I highly doubt a core part of gameplay for magicka will become utterly useless. They said they are working on counterplay. People will need to adjust builds and playstyle. In the end shields will still be a defensive option and save lives in the hands of good players.
Big IF it gets to that point, Zenimax will need to do something for all magicka builds not just sorc. Right now everything is speculative. We should probably wait to have in-depth discutions on mechanics changes until we actually know what is happening.
Some brief information about balance changes were posted and people already losing their minds...Finally, we have made a series of broad changes to ESO’s combat that are designed to help balance sustain across all Classes, provide counterplay opportunities for Damage Shield Abilities, and improve the effectiveness of Light and Medium Armor Passives.

No, shields are still strong, will in all likelihood still be strong after counterplay, and sorcs absolutely do not need a boost.
I´ve at least dabbled in all classes, and it kind of amazes me how people think sorcs are weak (absolute minmax endgame voicechat groups nonewithstanding).
Sorcs have a spammable escape that doubles as a gap closer and a stun. And you want this to be improved!?! Great, now I am stunned and can´t hit back because of immunity..They have great passives. They basically have 2 passive excutes (!). They have a skill that gives major expedition, major brutality, self heal and detection in one package.
If you play sorc and think it is weak or is going to be 'destroyed' by any change, you need to play other classes and get some perspective. And not nightblades, please.
