How much are your heals ticking for? My heals just seem so weak. I'm pretty sure a good bit of the problem is my Champion Points but I have no idea how to spec them.

A big part of the idea is to have multiple heals going at once, so you're not just having to spam Breath of Life over and over. You want to be using Mutagen, and potentially a few other DOTs like Combat Prayer, Extended Ritual, or even Healing Springs depending on the situation. If you're being very mobile, then really it's only going to be Mutagen and Breath of Life, and maybe throw in a Combat Prayer occasionally to give your allies the damage buff and a little extra healing. If you're posted up defending or sieging, then DOTs are going to be a big part of how you heal on top of Breath of Life.

My 3 Defensive Set build functions very well when I assume the Healer/Support role in groups:

    Mighty Chudan x2:

    1) simplified rotations as you no longer have to cast and maintain Major Ward/Resolve...

    2) frees a slot for a different ability...

    3) 100% maintenance free uptime on 8255 Spell/Physical Resist with 1206 Max Health as a nice bonus...

    Spectre's Eye x5:

    1) passive dodge chance while Healing (In other words, you can focus on Healing your group opposed to maintaining your own defenses as you are able to passively negate damage and heal simultaneously; synergizes well with Mighty Chudan in this regard)...

    2) gives a 1206 Max Health bonus which passively adds to your ability to survive...

    3) 2975 Physical Resist (which is helpful because if all the Poison Damage [which is a Physical Attack] in the current game...

    Combat Physical x5:

    1) provides a 0 power cost 4.1k damage shield every 6 seconds on any Critical Heal...

    2) provides 2 Spell Crit bonus's which add a noticeable boost to your Healing capability...

    3) can negate 41k damage per minute with zero risk to your character...

This works very well for me...

Edit: Bonus points if you go Swift x3 inaddition to the above...

I usually have Springs and Rapid Regen up at all times. I did some research and it seems that with the Ritual mundus stone and some new weapon traits I should be good to go.

Powered resto is a good way to go. You can do ritual mundus as an option if you want to go full heals, or if you want to do some damage while healing then mage is a nice balance as the extra magicka gives you bigger heals as well as bigger damage.

For Champ points, don't forget to pile at least 56 CP (19% i think?) into roll dodge and block cost mitigation in the green tree. You should be using those a LOT. Not taking damage is always more valuable than having to heal that damage. That being said, throw a tri-stat glyph or two onto a big piece of armor with the Infused trait. That stam will save you time and time again, even as a healer.

My personal advice: Unless you already have a solid, large group to hide in the middle of, never ever go full heals. Give yourself one or two dmg abilities that fit your play style to get you out of trouble if you find yourself alone and without the protection of your DDs, and learn how to maximize the crap out of them. One healing ulti and one dmg ulti should work for you. I run Shooting Star, Toppling Charge, and Puncturing sweeps, and even my wet noodle hitting healer self can kill a fair percentage of players 1v1, if I stay sharp and watch my rotation (except those obnoxious stamdens).

After that, you just need to find a HoT, a purge, a buff, and a spam heal that fits your particular playstyle, and you'll be golden.

And don't forget, spamming mutagen is an AP goldmine. You get AP when you heal someone who is getting AP.

So get the HOTs rollin'! B)

Thanks for all the advice guys! I trait changed my heal staff to Powered, reallocated my Champion Points, and switched to Ritual and now my heals are pretty big. Now I just have to find a group for an Earthgore helm and I should be all set.
