PvP Healer?

Hey all.

I'm thinking of finally playing a support role in PvP. The problem is, I have no idea where to start. Would anyone be able to point me in a direction for a Magplar Healer (gear and skill-wise)? I was thinking of running 2 Troll King, 5 Transmutation, and either 5 heavy Kag's or 5 heavy Seducer, with Resto staff and sword and board. Does that sound decent so far? What skills would I run?

I would recommend going a hybrid damage/healer and slotting skills that aid your group (that also do damage, mostly).

Kags, Transmutation, TK...pretty solid right there. If someone else has TK already then Blood spawn and Pirate skeleton are good options. I would suggest 5-1-1 heavy, but you could go 5-1-1 light if you wanted to wear 1 pirate skelly and 1 chudan to stack resistances. Since penetration isn't really important for healing heavy is not a bad choice.

Lightning staff: can proc off balance, channeled attacks useful against speedy opponents.
Resto staff: good passives for healing, also channeled attack, best magicka return on heavy attacks (sword and board is an option here)

Destro bar: Crushing shock, elemental drain (if you have magic dps in group, maybe explosive charge for stam dps), reflective light (snare, major crit bonus), purifying light, and luminous shard, with either soul assault, meteor, or dawnbreaker for damage. Meteor is good because it will buff your stats on this bar with degen on second bar due to mage guild passives.

Resto/S&b bar: Elusive mist, degeneration, channeled focus, extended ritual, and breath of life, with either light's champion (resto) or remembrance (s&b) ulti.

    just my 2g

edit: atro mundus w/ tri food and immov pots (or speed pots if with stam dps)

If you wanna be a full healer, I suggest also finding a stable group(pug-group, friends, guild, whatever) as life as a healer is tough if you have no one around you. Stable LFG-zone groups could always use a healer, but it won't work if they don't stay in the same area(Think sieging same wall etc.)

But if you just wanna be a full-out healbot go for: Lightspeaker/Kagrenac's/Trans + Lich/Seducer. Either double resto or snb/Resto.

Resto bar: Springs, Breath of life/HtD, rapidreg/entropy/repentance/radiant aura/whatever, inner light
s/b bar: Ritual, Channeled Focus(Or other morph), Time stop, Siege shield, Mist Form/Accelerate/Something that lets you move.

Run either healing ultimate or Panacea.

Edit: If you go with transmutation, you can go for an additional spell dmg enchant on your jewellery, making your heals stronger.

For the sake of it, because you'll be useless for anything that's not healing: 100% in Blessed(altho 25 points for 1% is useless, you won't be doing anything that's not healing anyway).

High Recovery and Ult Gen on a PvP healer is the most effective things you’d be after, IMO. Two Ult Spamming healers can keep a small group alive for ages.

Nice! A lot of great tips here! If it's not too much, how should I spec my Champion Points? I have no idea how to do them. I tried looking on YouTube for a current build to go off of and couldn't really find anything.

Transmutation + reactive has been a good combo for like 2 years now. Earthgore for large groups, chokethorn for smaller groups. You could even throw in a master or maelstrom resto as well.

I've been thinking about that all day. Does anyone know if Troll King, Transmutation, and Reactive would be a good combo for a healer? I was going to run heavy Kag's, but Reactive has piqued my interest.

Yes but Troll King won't help you one bit if you decide to go Vampire.

I really enjoy light fort brass, with trans jewels and snb front bar with vma or master resto back, either bloodspawn or earthgore as monster set. This is like my full group healer setup I enjoy.

Wearing TK will still benefit the non-vampires in the group you're with even if it doesn't affect you much. OP is looking for something for healing support, not soloing.

True. That's why I'm conflicted between heavy Kag's and Reactive. Kagrenac's Hope would better benefit the group one way (faster rez speed, a bit of spell damage for bigger heals), while Reactive would help the group in another way (harder to kill, a dead healer is a useless healer).

It does! I hate using damage characters in PvP because I have to see my faction melt or get ran over by ball group. Plus some people really need the heals to get "experience" PvPing. I don't care if it gets me killed when an army coming, I'm still going to heal that guy that just entered PvP.

Earthgore is only useful if you’re in an organized group that sticks close enough together for it to hit a majority of the group for two ticks. Otherwise you’ll constantly be proccing it on a single person (who likely will run out from it and die) and waiting 35 secs to repeat. Chokethorn is better in that scenario because it only heals one but has just a 10 sec cool down.

I'm thinking of running Nirn on both weapons. Would it be better to run one Nirn/one Infused?

I would honestly say powered for the healing potential, unless you're trying to do more damage along the way.

I run Wizards Riposte and Seducers on my healer, S&B on main and Resto staff on back bar. Most of my gear has sturdy traits with tri-stat glyphs. Nightflame helm (I think thats what it is --- chance at increased ultimate gain on taking damage). Unless I'm getting complete overrrun by multiple people with no help, I can stay alive for quite a long time and heal very well. Damage is minimal, except Radiant Oppression for execute which is nice.

5/1/1 Heavy armor with pirate skeleton + shackle + wizard's ripostle, s&b+restro is what i like when playing support build. 17k stamina 30k health 33k magicka 2200 sp 1900 regen when buffed. You dont die at all.
With one gear swap, overwhelming instead of ripostle and destro staff instead of restro you are ready to do some real damage.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what to run anymore. There seems to be minimal information in regards to PvP healing this patch. I tried out 2 Troll King, 5 Transmutation, 5 Kagrenac's Hope last night but my heals were tiny.

Troll King, Shackle, Transmutation might just be my favorite setup for PvP healing/support roles.

So much that I'm running it now on my NB healer and my Sorc support healer.

How much are your heals ticking for? My heals just seem so weak. I'm pretty sure a good bit of the problem is my Champion Points but I have no idea how to spec them.
