It clearly says "provide counterplay opportunities for Damage Shield Abilities."
Keyword: counterplay.
Counterplay occurs in PvP, not PvE. This suggests that whatever they're doing is a buff of some sort on the attacker side, not a nerf to shields themselves. They may add an ability that strips shields off a target. Or maybe they'll make weapon/spell penetration or crit (which PvE mobs don't have) increase damage against shields.
We don't know. So chill.
so you're going to nurf a class when its already in the worst position its ever been in this game, makes total sense!!! zos is a bunch of social justice warriors

Oh no! Now you might actually have to put a heal on your bar like everyone else!
I'm looking forward to see how they intend on improving everyone's sustain. I'm curious to see what kind of changes they're doing to light and medium armor as well.
you know - i´d be totally fine with that if i had a heal tied to one or multiple of my main damaging abilities like other classes have.
a dk, or nb does not have to put a heal besides healingward on their bar in light armor - because everything they do heals them.

Up until couple of weeks ago it was considered the most OP in PVP -- the newb go to class for POWERZ. Rune and 4-5 chainbursts via macros or ani-cancelling + shield stacking.

Yup,
The sad thing is damage shields already have plenty of counterplay, more counterplay then any other defensive mechanic and scales worse then any other mechanic as number of attackers increase (I know you know this)
Their basis for these changes puzzles me

Aw, you poor presumptuous person... believing that not giving a crap about the meta or min maxing equates to beign naive.
Yes because not wanting your class to be turned into a pile of steaming crap is giving a crap about the meta and min maxing lol
Do you PvP at all? Or do any kind of dungeon that is past the base-game vet dungeons?

That has never happened in the history of this game and there is little cause to suspect it will. Never have any changes been made that render a class unplayable, or a ‘steaming pile of crap’ ... unless one’s perspective revolves around meta and min maxing or being a competitive power gamer. That’s the only crowd that operates at the level where the changes are really noticeable. For the rest of us? Business as usual. Balance changes impact non-competitive, non meta chasing players very little, and this will be no different. The developers are not going to gut a class to the point is a ‘steaming pile of crap’ to this majority of the playerbase.

you cant define the class as being the most op due to one ability, my god. m8 i cant deal with your logic, i guarantee your pvp experience is near nothing. since this games life spam this most popular argument in this game is to be anti sorc regardless of the of the facts. its the most common mis conception in the game, i would love to see anybody that complains about the class to go have success on it in open world solo terms guarantee you wont lmao

Don’t QQ till you at least see the new system.

Or people like you can just L2P?
LOL because an ability that can be stacked, ignores penetration, ignores crits and is unaffected by defiles is completely balanced. I actually can't wait for all the bad magicka players to finally become irrelevant when they realise how much shields carried them.
I'd be happy for shields to finally be affected by either penetration OR crit (I might agree that introducing both would be too much of a nerf)...
"provide counterplay opportunities for Damage Shield Abilities" can mean a lot of different things. Hopefully the changes are not too bad because my squishy sorc needs his damage shields. Also says changes to light and medium passives so we shall see I guess.
