Yeah. As long I knew ahead of time where that was going to be so I could avoid it entirely for the week.

Me too 100%, but for the very reasons why a lot of the PvE'ers here refuse to PvP. Odd right? Consider that, consider y'all might not know what ya want from Cyrodiil -- PvP and PvE are sequestered in games for a good reason, & that the PvE in the PvP zone was designed with PvP in mind & ain't what floats your boat & ain't much to be missed. I mean if completion was really your jam how you gonna get ZoS to award you the Grand Overlord achievement since you're not going to actually complete it? Buying AP in the Crown store?! Consider that many PvP'ers are the type that might trigger you when they talk but still have valid points & the purpose is the discussion.

Cuz if you think this is about PvP'er types vs. PvE types (both salty) & not what it is - basic game design (there is PvP in this game, that PvP is in Cyrodiil) - & even entertain spilling PvP in to PvEland to ignore what is a very simple issue (don't PvP if you don't want to), well then..

@Drakkdjinn: truthfully, I don't want or need anything from Cyrodiil. The only interest I have in that oddball triangle of the map is - nostalgia. I loved Cyrodiil in Oblivion, and I would have loved to revisit it in ESO. Well.... seems as if ZOS thought that sort of nostalgia would prompt people like me to do their pvp stuff just to see.

Nope. Not going there. But I'm all for having a fair trade-off. If they make Cyrodiil pvp-not for a week, and some zone in the rest of the game world pvp-yes for the same week, that works.

As long as I know beforehand WHERE that pvp zone is going to be. Because if I don't I'm not going to set foot out of where I log my girls in every day to do writs that entire week, otherwise. And that entire week, if I don't know where the pvp zone is, I'm not going to spend real money for crowns.... which I do at a pretty decent rate on a normal basis.

Lol. Am I reading this right. There are no intermissions, no. That is not a part of it.

Pausing the game so you can do your little PVE stuff is not an option.

Entering Cyrodiil on ur PVE spec is a dangerous proposition. Enter at your own risk

The easiest thing to do would be to create a PvE instance of Cyrodiil that takes place after the events of the Three Banners War. This war doesn't last forever and the Daedric Invasion of the Imperial City even ends after you complete the White Gold Tower Dungeon. So logically after the Daedric threat to the Empire is finished, the Empire would restore itself as the dominant power and the three Alliances would cease their hostilities eventually, leading to a Cyrodiil without the War.

The EASIEST thing would be to learn to PvP. It’s really not that hard lol.

No I get that nostalgia factor, I'm a Tribes player (T1/T2 PEOPLE WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN), and was a TES4 junkie too, but ya know man when I miss Oblivion, I play Oblivion.

I actually played on a pvp server in WoW, in a friend's guild - mostly to join the guild raids. The raids weren't fun either - and getting ganked out in the world sucked boulders through straws. By the time I could holler for help from whatever guildies were online, I was dead. My lag sucks, so dead is dead usually in a couple of seconds. I got one kill on my own in 6 months - and it was actually an even-level toon. I actually HATED it - I don't believe in killing other players' characters, and it shouldn't be classed as "fun".

So I gritted it out for those 6 months and then I deleted my toons on that server, and returned to my regular servers, where I had to actively CHOOSE to pvp by flagging, the which I did NOT (unless I absent-mindedly walked into the wrong area - but that's on me.... happened a few times....) Ditto RIFT though I never did pvp there at all.

So nope, ain't hap'nin. Just - yuck. Oh. And as for ZOS? They can suck rocks too because I don't CARE about what they envision - I only care about paying them to play the game MY WAY. Selfish? Yeah. *shrug*

you take things to seriously. being killed by a player is no different then getting killed by a mob.

    Lol, no.

A mob doesn't teabag your body. A mob doesn't taunt you with emotes. A mob doesn't send you hate tells. When a mob is done with you they just go back to their idle position. When a person does it, they make it personal.

I get hate tells all the time...from DEAD people lol.

Eh.... some have said exactly that - they don't want a pve quiet place to do the quests. They want fodder. Maybe wasn't this thread.... but yeah....

And I actually can't remember a pve player saying anything about getting the "rewards" either. It's very late here, so I'm not going to dig back through threads tonight. I'll try to get some stuff up tomorrow.

    No, just stahp

The other maps are not set up for PvP AT ALL. It would make absolutely no freaking sense to do this.

There are 30 PvE zones in the game and 2 .....TWO PVP zones.... and you want to take those away too?
    NO, NO, NO

I started this game as primarily a PvE player. I also said I was not going to PvP in this game.....much
Heh.....turns out I enjoy Cyrodiil and IC quite a bit

    I have 15 characters
14 of them have the skyshards behind the gates of the enemy factions
8 have every single delve, dolmen, POI, and the non repeatable quests in main Cyrodiil done
9 have Alliance skill lines to 10 which is about Alliance Rank 13
I have three that are above that and my highest ranked character is 24 IIRC
All 15 have done the story in IC
I have a character that is a former emperor

Its not that freaking hard to figure out.
Make sure your horse is max speed and stam (this will help ALOT)
Go to a less populated campaign, preferably one that is dominated by your faction
Stay off the main lines between keeps, especially if they are different colors
Run along the edges of the map or around the lake to get to places
Get a group of 2-3 other people to do it with.
Expect to die once in a while......BUT its not the freaking end of the world if you do, just go to a different area then go back to where you were.

It takes patience and perserverance to get it done
    Its NOT impossible...AT ALL

Ic went downhill when PvP and PvE were mixed in one DLC which was done poorly. It caters more to PvP than PvE players.

There’s a war going on? Ok then let’s ignore the fact that a Daedric Prince and his army are in the sewers to fight amongst ourselves!

Seriously IC itself and the sewers should be neutral ground instead of this PvP crap.

that's the point, if you look at the dialog most people don'y know or care about molag bal (talking npc) he is not seen as a threat, which is what you saw happen in morrowind, oblivion and skyrim. Most ppl in Morrowind were more into the housing wars then the rise of dagoth ur. Most people talked about the emperor being assassinated, rather then he was assassinated by a cult following M.D

And skyrim was neck deep in a civil war to pay too much attention to dragons popping out of the snow like daisies.

Its always up to the hero to make people care.

The issue is the two camps hate each other.. and will never in a million years work together.. Why a company puts pve content into a pvp zone is totally to help pvp customer gank.. there is no other way around it..

Zos wanted to promote ganking pvp play styles.. 100%

Pve customers would be far better off avoiding the content completely and let it die, let it fade into the sunset like The Divisions Dark Zone content did..

Just stay away pvers, you will be less frustrated and hopefully the content will get removed over time.

I always wondered what someone must have done to deserve such hatred. Then I recieved a few rage whispers and it dawned on me: some people are just idiots. Their ego must take an immensive hit when they lose to someone in a video game that they go all nuts and start insulting.

Only thing I can advice you and others is to use report and ignore functions and make yourself clear that those players are some weird idiots. [E: setting your status to "offline" works as well]

Always funny when people go crazy about dying in a game. Be it a dead serious PvP'er or a whimpering PvE'er.

there is a block and report feature, and as I said I've played games that had npc enemies do that.

heck MGS had a enemy that read your save stick, and poked fun by fake deleting everything on it, another game has a enemy player do a fake blue screen on pc. Most mobs taunt you as they fight.

I'm not seeing the differences. Heck ff14 has a mob that has an attack that a straight up insult, and gives your character a "misery" debuff that can only be cured with /comfort or /rally.

Also old school mmo did chase you zone line to zone line.

    not seeing any differences.

No because deshaan wasn't set up for PvP. There are no real choke points nor objectives that create a field of battle. It would simply be a bunch of gankers lurking around hoping beyond hope that they eventually stumble across a player to do battle with. And again having PvE content in a PvP zone and having gear gained through PvE be desirable in PvP is good for the game. That type of cross play helps keep the game going over the long haul.

Actually there are several of us saying exactly that. Cyrodiil is a unique zone. Having a PvE only version would take that away. That aside it is good for the game when players are enticed to participate in areas of the game they might otherwise avoid. Many players found they liked PvP while doing the quests in Cyrodiil. They may have never ventured there were it not for those quests. PvP depends on those new players to survive just like PvE depends on new content.

"Mobs don't continually hunt you and call you names in the chat.. mobs do not tea bag you while threatening your family and life style, mobs do not have pet names for you and look down on you in forums..."

I split my time fairly even between PvP and PvE. The group chat and whispers I see during trial runs is much more nasty and mean spirited than what I have seen in Cyrodiil. Both can get really harsh though. I just figure they aren't having fun in the game and I am so I don't give em a moments thought.

there is a block and report feature, and as I said I've played games that had npc enemies do that.

heck MGS had a enemy that read your save stick, and poked fun by fake deleting everything on it, another game has a enemy player do a fake blue screen on pc. Most mobs taunt you as they fight.

I'm not seeing the differences. Heck ff14 has a mob that has an attack that a straight up insult, and gives your character a "misery" debuff that can only be cured with /comfort or /rally.

Also old school mmo did chase you zone line to zone line.

    I have 15 characters
14 of them have the skyshards behind the gates of the enemy factions
8 have every single delve, dolmen, POI, and the non repeatable quests in main Cyrodiil done
    9 have Alliance Rank 10
All 15 have done the story in IC
Many of them were done solo or with one other person

Its not that freaking hard to figure out.

Yea but I wanna PvP people on the streets of Summerset sometimes, wouldn’t that be absolutely magical?

No. As a PVPer who loves playing the map in Cyrodiil and fighting large groups for objectives to,win the campaign, this doesn't appeal to me at all. ZOS would have to add PVP objectives that work for group play for me to be interested, and they aren't going to put the effort in for that.

I'm sure there are PVPers who would love this idea. For myself, a week where Cyrodiil PVP is turned off is a week where I wouldn't PVP.

Saying learn to play is not going to help me as I fully admit that I suck and will never be good enough to complete these essentially PVE achievements as I just am not capable of learning to PVP competently.

I don't like that every global achievement - exploring, skyshards, fishing etc. is unobtainable to me because of this. But I guess that's how it is and I've resigned myself to never being able to do this. I think it's very unlikely that Cyrodil will ever be PVE friendly, and so I take what I can in PVE which is mainly solo questing (which I do enjoy) and trying to scrape together gold to buy and furnish houses for fun.

    @Sassparella501

I am 69 and also don't have the reflexes or skill for PVP. And, yet, I have Master Angler on 6 character, have all skyshards in the game, have done all Cyrodiil delves, dolmens, etc. Trust me, it can be done without much PVP. Go to a quiet campaign in the early morning Eastern time and you can travel the map without hardly ever running into other players.

If you play on PC/NA, I would love to take you to Cyrodiil with me and show you how I do it.

Thank you, but I'm on Xbox. Well done on getting all those :) You have more determination than I do. I've had not so good experiences with PvP in other games and it has coloured my view, I guess.

What I'm saying is that any PvE player complaining about PvP in a PvP zone should take thier own advice. If you want the reward, you have to do the content.

    Cyrodiil's also a PvE zone.

Is that why you're here complaining about getting killed by players?

I mean, you can keep telling yourself that while you're getting killed, I guess. Good luck with all that..

You and your fellow carebears are crying over pointless things; plenty of skyshards on the rest of the map you can grab (only way you'd need more is if you have no clue what you're doing and waste of ton of them in useless things), achievements are beyond useless (couldn't tell you how to get a single one of them since they don't matter at all), fishing (you're only doing it for yet another worthless achievement), PoIs (people actually care about these?) etc. The only thing in Cyro you need is AP which can be easily and quickly gained without having to ever engage in combat (hell you're almost to level 3 by doing the goofy quest as soon as you enter Cyro), please tell me how I can do the same for Undaunted.

Do you seriously not see the problem here?

You're forcing someone to do something that they don't want to do.

You mean like how I'm forced to do boring af dungeons and trials (maybe killing predictable AI that takes no real skill to beat is a blast for you but to me it's the equivalent of listening to Michael Buble) in order to get the gear I need to pvp (and that's just the gear, then comes the grind for Undaunted 9)? Just recently we had a thread about how dungeon gear should become BoE again and the carebears came out opposing the hell out of it (clowns don't realize they'd be able to make more gold selling gear but we all know that pve-only players have never been lauded for their mental prowess), so you don't want to make any concessions for PvPers yet think all concessions should be made for you which is the mentality of a small child.

Using PvP rewards for PvE is not a problem. Nor is using PvE rewards in PvP, don't know where you read anything else from my comment. If you're not going to work for it, than you're not going to get it. We don't want PvP rewards, we want the PvE rewards, we care for the lore of the franchise, we care for the quests, and the PvE element. That's why we go to Cyrodiil. That's why you don;t see us rushing for Keeps.

And you see, here is the difference. Why on earth would you want AP? ''To buy keep...'' oh wait, you can only buy PvP-related items with it?

Some folk, unlike yourself, care for the Elder Scrolls franchise, and those that do are the ones who care for its lore, achievements, and all that stuff. You consider them useless because you're a PvP ganker, who can't put himself in another man's shoes.

Undaunted is not a PvP element, it's a PvE element, you have no right to complain over that.
Cyrodiil is both a PvE and PvP zone. PvE players getting a severe disadvantage because of the PvP.

''how I'm forced to hur dur dur''
No. You're not forced to do that at all if you want to do PvP, you do not need those things, those attributes. Go to Cyrodiil without them. If you require people to do PvP while they despise it, you're a very sad person indeed.

    Yours is the mentality of a small child;
''I want you to do what I want you to do! So do it!''

    Grow up.

imagine wanting the game reworked specifically for you because you're too lazy to learn how to pvp. amazing.

What I find the most hilarious about it is that they continually try to blame the PvPers (aka the group of players ZoS gave the short end of the stick) instead of just manning up and learning to defend themselves. That's what haoppens when yous pend all your time playing against easymode AI, you pretty much become a bot yourself and get farmed by actual players (thanks for the AP silly pixelfarmers).
Unless you are willing to be a mindless sycophant and/or coddle others due to their insecurities prepare to be harrased by the Orwellian enforcers on these forums. You should also try to refrain from using any words more complex than those used by a small child due to the fact that said enforcers have made it clear that their vocabulary pool is aenemic.

Face it, there is no justified reason for you PvP players to complain about a seperate PvE suggestion.

I PvE in Vivec Lol. I do quests there. I even FARM there. I ALSO kill players and took the time to learn to do so. I entered Vivec at level 10.

There are plenty of places to ONLY PvE if you want to. ZOS wants you to play their WHOLE game so there are inventives for people to do both PvE and PvP.

You should really just l2p or l2pvp because once you do, PvEing in Cyrodiil won’t really be an issue.

Everyone dies. Everyone gets ganked. Everyone gets Zerged down. But once you l2p you’ll KILL those pesky nighblades. You’ll wreck Zergs. You won’t think to much of it.

ESO is a good game. Don’t shy away from a challenge. Step up and kill some people WHILE doing some quests.

No justified reason, hmmm? (I can't believe this necro'd thread is going strong)

Like it or not, ZOS balances PVP and PVE together. That means the whole player base benefits when players understand how both PVE and PVP work. The only way to make that happen is to force PVP players into PVE and PVE players into PVP.

And that's why ZOS designed PVP and PVE content so that everyone has to deal everything if they want all the rewards and the best gear. Removing the incentives for PVEers to go into PVP and at the very least get their toes wet for anniversary boxes, AP, tel var, caltrops, vigor, warhorn, etc. (Or allowing PVP players to skip undaunted, get dungeon gear, etc) means that players struggle when ZOS makes balance changes due to either PVP, PVE, or both. Instead, ZOS works hard to give players reasons to try out different playstyles and parts of the game.

We see the proof of this in the class representatice program, where the
representatives were chosen for expertise in both PVP and PVE.

So if you want a justified reason, maybe consider what benefit ZOS gets from the status quo and indeed from designing this game this way in the first place.

Mind you, this dastardly scheme of ZOS to get PVE players into PVP works in some cases. I used to be a PVE only player. I hated the idea of PVP, but I wanted those Master Angler fish. That's what got me started and now I PVP regularly.

Balances, eh? Tell me, what exactly is balanced about fishing and suddenly getting ganked? PvE players play PvE for a reason, as a prime example, Runescape did an excellent job of seperating this. It has (or had) seperate PvP servers, and it had the wilderness, a PvP zone. Mixing PvE and PvP always ends up with PvP players getting the better side of the bargain.

Oh, you almost killed this world boss? Well, too bad, because xXIganknoobsXx saw you lose quite a lot of health and decided to kill you just as you were about to kill the boss.

IC got completely ruined by the PvP/PvE mixed zone, it's a dead area because neither side can get any positives. The ones who want to beat the bosses get screwed over by PvP players, while there are too many PvE enemies for PvP players to really get into their element. Leaving both sides screwed.

The way they ''incite'' PvP playing is utterly disgusting. It's based on people with a lack of skill making PvE players so annoyed that they stop doing what they want and like to do, because they can't do those things with other players running around.

Give one good reason why PvE players should suffer at the expense of PvP players. PvE players aren't in the way of PvP players, the opposite is true.

Balanced? You are using that in a different sense than ZOS uses it. ZOS wants to have PVP and PVE work on similar principles as opposed to completely separating PVE and PVP. So until ZOS changes their mind (which they keep doubling down on it, so good luck), they will continue to encourage PVE players to go into PVP zones to give it a try. I already explained the benefits ZOS gets from doing that, including how they've emphasized that in the class representative program.

ZOS is well aware that many PVE only players hate having to PVP for skyshards, achievements, skills, and other rewards for doing the whole of the base game. They haven't changed the current system, and indeed keep adding rewards to PVP modes like Battlegrounds. (Insert the same speech about PVP players hating to PVE for stuff, and ZOS continuing to add PVE rewards.)

That's because this design benefits ZOS. It lets them continue to balance skills/classes for PVE and PVP together instead of separately. It lets them encourage people to play multiple game modes, not just the ones you happen to love. Whether that's PVP or PVE.

You don't like having to PVP, along with many other PVE players. We get that. ZOS hasnt managed to somehow miss that.

Unfortunately for you, the benefits ZOS derives from balancing PVE and PVP together rather than desperately, and also from encouraging players to play ALL of the game rather than conpletely segregating themselves into seperate communities outweighs the suffering of PVE only players "forced" to PVP or PVP players "forced" to PVE.

The problem is that you'll have a hard time finding PvE players demanding PvP rewards, because that's not what we're complaining about.

We're complaining about not being able to do part of the PvE element because of PvP players deciding to gank PvE players.

Mixing PvP and PvE only encourages the former while completely disrupting the latter. Barely anyone does PvE in Cyrodiil because of PvP players that gank 24/7, thinking they are ''pro's'', and that the others just have to ''get gud''.

Mixing a zone does not encourage trying out different game modes. Changing rewards does. And that change already exists. If people want PvP rewards, they have to do PvP, that's already a thing that exists. And that's not what we're complaining about.

Exactly! If you want the rewards that ZOS deliberately put in a PVP zone like Cyrodiil or Imperial City, you might have to PVP!

Is that intended by ZOS? Absolutely.

You want the achievement for all of the skyshards in the base game? ZOS didnt stick 4 skyshard behind enemy gates by accident.

You want Master Angler which means fishing in all base game zones? ZOS didn't forget that Cyrodiil was a PVP zone where PVP happens.

You want the reward boxes from doing dailies in Cyrodiil? Again, ZOS didn't forget that Cyrodiil is a PVP zone.

ZOS deliberately designed Imperial City to mash PVP into PVE activities. Its a ganker's paradise. That didnt happen by accident - its designed that way!

I'm 90% certain you and me have had this conversation before and we're not going to convince each other. Fair enough.

I'm pointing out that ZOS deliberately stuck PVE activities in a PVP zone, intending that PVE players would have to risk PVP in order to get the rewards for experiencing the whole game. I've pointed out the benefits ZOS gets for doing that.

This didnt happen by accident. ESO didn't get designed this way because PVPers want you to suffer. ZOS designed it this way, deliberately, and isn't going to change it because the benefits they get outweigh your suffering when you feel "forced" into PVP where ZOS knows full well that gankers lurk.

Except that PvE players are not out for the PvP rewards... Hence why they do PvE... And if those rewards were PvP rewards they wouldn't be obtainable by doing PvE, now would they? But yet they are, they're not PvP rewards.

And sure. You really think they ''planned'' it like that? Just like how they planned the mixed PvE/PvP zone in IC? Oh wait. IC was planned to have a toggle for PvP, but when the PvP fanboys couldn't stand not being allowed to gank PvE players, ZOS quickly removed it.
    '
    Childish, very childish.

So, you think that ZOS put rewards like questing achievements, fish, skyshards etc into a PVP zone like Cyrodiil by complete accident?

That ZOS somehow forgot that players might possibly be exposed to PVP while trying for those rewards? That ZOS didn't realize that "Huh, players can fight inside delves or while doing quests in the towns?" Or, "Wait, you have to capture at minimum 2 keeps in order to get to skyshard that can be defended by players." when they made some of those rewards?

Pull the other one, its got bells on it.

Putting generally PVE oriented awards into Cyrodiil was a deliberate choice by ZOS and its one that I've pointed out how it benefits the way ZOS has chosen to balance PVE and PVP together going forward. Not everyone like it, but overall it works out better for ZOS and the developers than the alternative of letting the PVP and PVE community develop into segregated communities with completely different interests and little understanding of each other. In the end, this has nothing to do with what you or I want, and everything to do with what works best for ZOS. "Forcing" PVE players into Cyrodiil, IC, and Battlegrounds if they want skyshard, quests, tel var, and style pages works really well for ZOS for all the aforementioned reasons I brought up in previous posts.

But since you've decided to resort to calling me childish, I think we've passed the point of having a sensible discussion. Have a great day.

As said before, Cyrodiil is also a PvE zone, so stop with the whole ''why would they put it in a PvP zone?'' argument, because it
    falls flat.

ZOS didn't plan on gankers camping around sites, looking for PvE players. Hence why so many PvE sites are on the other sides of the map when compared to the PvP sites. Also, two skyshards, woohoo! You know that you'll hardly ever find any PvE player really caring for those? Sure, if the gates are open they'd take their chances, but those two Skyshards are put there for PvP players more than PvE.

PvE players rarely set foot in Cyrodiil, IC, and Battlegrounds because they despise PvP. You clearly haven't been paying attention.

No one forces you to get all the achievements. No one forces you to get all the skyshards. No one forces you into cyrodiil. You do it because you want stuff that is locked behind a specific content. And that lock is manifold. I don't want to PvE either yet I have to do it because I want items that come from that. Sets, guild skills, etc. No need to cry about that either.

That lock is there to expose you to content you would never touch otherwise. Because maybe, just maybe, you assumed wrong and actual start to like that content.

If you want your safe space in a PvE cyro campaign, so be it. But keep it fair and give us access to open world pvp outside of cyro as well.

No one forces you to kill PvE players either. Yet here you guys are, doing it anyway.
He is not trying to get PvP content, he's trying to get the PvE content of Cyrodiil's PvE elements, and PvP players rob him of that.

Forcing something down someone's throat will more often than not result in them disliking what is forced even more.
