Depends...If you want my honest opinion its hard to justify it over other sets. I have 67+ crit rate (most of my hits crit) and briarheart is still sometimes hard to activate in PvP. However, it becomes increasingly useful the more targets there are. I would not bother wasting gold on weapons, and instead use medium armor pieces because you will swap that set in some situations. Medium body pieces are also probably way cheaper.
@Checkmath right though, you not gonna have any way to sustain or survive unless you can block + roll well and heavy attack often or spam potions. The alternative is to only attack when you need to, but who can actually predict when an opponent will dodge or block? You would need to encounter the same people often and notice their habits...

If you are using rendering slashes along with biting jabs, and possibly even blade cloak, you have a lot of outgoing dmg for a crit to occur and proc it. You could even run double health poisons which are procing every sec. So you would have the dmg tic from slash, 2 poison dmg, possible bleed, dmg from cloak and spamming jabs.
The same "rule" applies for ravager. The reason why it is a good fit for stamplar is biting jabs frequency gives it a higher uptime and you can also put on rendering slashes.
Yet if you are not using abilities that do frequent damage, in favor of burst, the set looses value right away and it may be better to go off of a set that boosts max stats or guarenteed dmg.
Both sets loose their value is used on a 2h build or S/B as the uptime is less.
