What is "I'm looking for..." from others for you in the dungeons?

SilverWF
SilverWF
✭✭✭✭✭
At the start of the dungeon or trial some randoms always post some requests in the party chat, like "I'm looking for the Lich chest, legs and sash, divines"
What are your behavior for this? How you would react later on loot?
Basically: what is this messages for you?

Attention!
This thread is not about "would you spare your loot or not?"
This thread is about "HOW you would spare your loot?"

Just nothing, like a white noise, and if someone need something from my loot - let he would ask me kindly and be faster or more generous than others, if I don't need it, sure

helping and getting help from others is super good and relieves stress, so im all for it!

last time i did crypt of hearts this person was looking for a lich shield...i was like "good luck! haahahahaha 1 in 100 runs maybe."

i got the shield and gladly handed it over because grinding sucks and dont want people to go through that if i can help.

I don't get what you're trying to say in 2 of the options, so i'll just pick "Other" and explain myself.

If I do a normal trial and someone says "Ye, I need a moondancer restoration staff" - if I don't need it myself, I'll give it away to the guy that asked. But if I need it myself,I'll keep it. (Unless the guy that needs it is a close friend, that deserves it / needs it more than me).

I usually give my loot away, given that i don't need it myself. I usually try to get at least 1 of each weapon type of each set. For "in case" - reasons. I once gave away a resto staff of lich to a friend. Took me ages to get another one for myself a few months later. That was kinda the eye-opener for me that, huh... I should try to get what I need before I give it away. :#

I'd prefer someone ask me if I happen to pull something they need. It doesn't mean I'll give it to them, but kindly asking is fine by me. I usually don't look at most of the loot I pull so if they just say at the start "I need X gear", I'll probably either ignore it or forget about it. My memory isn't what it used to be.

On the flipside, I have some friends that get so offended that someone is "spying" on their drops with addons that they will deny a player any loot they ask for, even if they do it politely, simply on principle.

I guess you can't please everyone.

If ppl ask nicely after the run, i might share some of the parts i dont need. incase the run was somewhat good.

If ppl ask before the run or even have that lootspy addon thing, i wont even bother replying. cant stand beggars. ill prolly remember what part they wanted and decon it with a evil smile xD

If they ask nicely and don’t demand it, I will say “okay!” and genuinely intend to give them whatever it is they are after —odds are, I’m not looking for it.

But then I will inevitably forget about it by the time we finish and I’ll ask if anyone needs anything before leaving the group and going about my business.

As for the addon displaying my loot, I 100% do not care if people see my loot. If someone sees something they want and I can spare it, I do not care how they found out I had it; they can have the drop(s).

I don't run with pugs. I only do the dungeons/trials with guildies or friends. We always ask at the beginning of the run if anybody needs anything from that dungeon. If they do, I will give it to them as long as it's not something that I need.

The problem with asking only after he run is that half of the group is already gone while you're typing.

    Pretty strange behavior.
Personally I think, that ppl with that behavior are ignorant. What if that guy didn't know english well? Until he would find a proper words to you - you'll be disappeared.
Also, there is no 'spy' - all of that are provided by official ingame API, like it or not.

Generally, I give whatever I don't need myself away UNLESS that person was an a**hole/didn't perform their role (Fake Tank, etc.).

On rare occasions, when I particularly feel like someone went above and beyond for the group and requests an item I needed but they want, I'll give away that item despite my own need of it, such as Master Weapons in vDSA.

If I do a specific dungeon run because a guild member is wanting to farm for specific gear, I'll offer them anything I have in that set. Why? I knew going in that it was a farming run for them.

If I do a random or pledge dungeon, I usually just hang on to those items for myself (or deconstruct them). Unless I happened to be with a guild member who again asked the group as a whole about certain pieces.

If no one asks, no one gets. It really is as simple as that.

I always link my unwanted loot in group chat and give it away if it’s wanted.

But if someone whispers me asking for loot that I didn’t link because the use the add on to see what I looted, then they don’t get anything based on principle.

I usually link everything I don't need when the final boss is slayed and give them away based on who called the dibs first. If I don't link an item I got, it is because I need it myself and if somebody asks for that spesific item I'll tell them I need it politely. Of course if somebody says at the beginning for a spesific item and I happen to get it and I don't need it, I'll reserve it for that player when I mass-link the items.

I use a group loot tool and bribe the ppl for their loot. Most of them are happy to earn extra money. Some refuse it because they need that parts for themselves, which is perfectly fine.

The only real pest when it comes to farming is people who do not respond or tell me lies.

If ppl ask me for loot, I tell them the truth, whether I need it or not. I give it away for free or for another part. I accept money if they offer it, but never request it. I rarely post my loot in chat, if I do so, only the final boss loot or if ppl ask for a set. I think it's pointless to list all drops by hand on PC, we got tools to see it.

People ask at the start of a run because there are a lot of players who do not even bother picking loot up. In that case you need to ask at the beginning so those people might bother picking up the drops. When the run is completed a lot of players leave the group straight away, often there is no time to chat anymore.

Remembering what people need is too much effort. I just make a mental note "somebody needed something", and at the end of the dungeon I ask "so what was it you needed?". They repeat their list and I check my bags if I have any of that.

RNG hates me ... best example? I ran Direfrost for more then 6 month. I got enough boots to dress a small army as well as other loot - before I got 1 pants. Up to now (~ 12 month after starting to farm hulking draugr) I got several bows, 2H, maces and even Healingstaffs ... but not a single sword or axe.

If it wasn't for nice ppl I would still miss a necklace, too. So, yeah I gladly give what i don't need ... and ask for things i am looking for. That's what the trading option is for, after all.

I give away any gear someone else needs if I don't need it myself. No charge, I don't expect anything back, just take it and enjoy.

I never understand people who charge gold for dungeon/trial gear. It will be bound in 2 hours. If you aren't going to use it then let someone else have it. You didn't "earn" it any more than they did, you are on the same team.

Well, somehow I agree with you, for most parts of the loot. But, we all know, there is some specific items that costs a lot, because a lot wants them.

Like AY daggers. Personally me sold one for 200k and another for 500k - they offered this money to me, I agreed (like someone here might to say "hey, no, take it for free!" :D ) and then bought 2 for myself (for 100k and 200k). Also I've bought 2 AY rings per 100k (gold ones).
Also I've seen like some guy offered 1mil for VO daggers at the start of trial.
I don't see anything bad here.

This works for another direction, right? You'll pay money for desired item or would be forced to make another XX runs until loot it by yourself or get it for free from someone.

Well, it comes in handy when too many ppl lie to you.

Not to mention that many users of such a tool might ask in the first place and use it just as some sort of backup. You would share your loot for free with a spy without even knowing it.

Besides - if someone accepts your price, what's next? You sold your moral standards because the price is right?

This but to be fair I don't remember everything. I usually open my text chat at the END of the dungeon and pm the person in question if I do have set pieces they're after.

Problem is they tell you at the beginning but there'a lot of thinking between "then and now" so I usually don't retain what specific set they want without checking. I don't check my loot till the end, I just grab everything.
