PSA: You're not the only player in this MMO

I'm sick and tired of pugging dungeons only to have 1337NB420 over there be an absolute rear-end of a baboon. That's right, I'm talking to you Jimmy, who pulled every single mob in Blackheart Haven, ran from the group, died, and then started cursing in chat and rage quit because no one was doing the dungeon "how it was supposed to be done". I'm also talking to you, Greta, who wanted a lorebook in Tempest Island and instead of asking nicely for the group to kill the mobs next to it, just started raging and telling everyone in the group how stupid they are.

It's an MMO people. That means, PREPARE YOURSELVES, I KNOW, IT'S A SHOCKER: a massive amount of people who all have different ideas and want different things.

For the new player or character:
If you need something, speak up. No one will be able to wait for your quest/help with mechanics/give you gear if no one knows. Ask nicely. If you start off shouting obscenities at the group no one will stop to help you. If you're new and someone offers you a few tips or explains something, try to take the advice graciously. Most players who take the time to explain things are only trying to help you, even if you disagree with the advice or didn't want it.

For the advanced player:
If someone needs the quest and they say so, give them the 5 seconds to talk to the NPC. If someone needs gear, don't run ahead and start soloing the boss so they can't get through the door or get their loot. If someone says it's their first time in the dungeon or they don't understand mechanics, take five seconds to type a few brief directions so they know what to do on their next run. If you see someone hard-casting crystal frags with a bow, take five seconds to ask them nicely if they want help with their build so they do more damage. If you don't have time to do any of these things, you should not be PUGing. Form your own group.

It's really super simple. An inch of patience and kindness will make the game miles nicer for everyone to play in.

Hi there. I'm Jimmy, aka 1337NB420. I chose to roleplay as a monkeybutt, and you have no right to tell me I can't play as I like.

Same applies in overland grind areas. I was doing my 10 minute zombie grind in Coldharbor and had someone get angry that my max level character was "in a level 30 zone" and "ruining the xp" for their two person group. I finished the 400k inspiration grind quickly then let them know:

    1) Everything scales and there are no area levels
    2) No one owns any area of an MMO
    3) The change in xp for a third isn't "ruining" Xp. Slows it down but not like having 7 people there.

A lot of people apparently have no idea how the game works. I am polite, but if they unleash a constant stream of attacks, I point out all the fallacies in their arguement.

PSA: Don't expect that *other* people a) are prepared b) know anything about what they are doing and/or c) are nice. Instead *you* should avoid situations where others can ruin your day. This means finding people that do things similar to how you like to do things. This is even a pretty good skill to have in real life. You are welcome.

You cracked me up with Jimmy and Greta, I've pugged with those two before... A little patience and kindness goes a long way, I agree. I generally stay out of pugs unless there's no-one else around and it's a dungeon I can't solo.

When I was playing at the EU server, I saw so many hard casting Crystal Frags. I was like "Oh, so this is a thing in this sever."

When I decide to tank I get DPS players who also pull out the Sword and shield spamming taunt. You taunt it you tank it. He died a few times, but that taunt button never stopped.
