They are not the same thing. Now you want to compare Expansion and Chapters you have something to argue possibly. Also remember though WoW expansions take roughly 2 years. ZoS is pushing out a major update every 3 months and one chapter a year.
This is another reason to just sub. You get the crafting bag which is more than worth the sub price. Then you get the DLC content for "free". Yes you could figure out an exact amount but it would be so low it wouldn't really matter.
noob in denial wrote: »I don't know about you guys, but i am so dissapointed about the price/content ratio we get with these DLCs. The wolfhunter DLC brings 2 new dungeons at the price of roughly ~25 euros. Like seriously, we don't get 5% of the content WoW players get for the same amount of money paid when a new expansion is released. Keep in mind that expansions there are so big that not even all ESO's DLCs combined bring as much content as one WoW expansion. And their subscription is even cheaper, 11euros a month and can be paid with in game gold, compared to 13euros here ( 11 euro only if you buy 6 months at once ).
Yes, i am aware that subscription gives a free acces to DLCs as long as it lasts and the DLC price is high so it forces buying the subscription, but in the end we get very low value for our money. Not to mention we do not have end game lore/content that could go hand in hand with eachother, just random stuff threw around to keep the game "somewhat" fresh. WoW's lore/story goes hand in hand with the expansions and it was continued since the first release. And that makes it so interesting, seeing/playing a story and complete some content that evolved with a well thought out story, not just random dlcs threw around with some random quests / *** stories. Why can't we have high quality here ?
First of all it’s a joke to compare this game to WoW.
Honestly. You speak of WoW as being so fabulous why are you here? Oh yes, because this is a better game.
Second, it’s laughable to say one is getting more from WoW for the same dollar. Not only cartoonish graphics but also their zones are noticeably smaller in the area one can actually travel within. They need to make each instance fairly small.
Go play WoW and their cartoonish characters and combat system. Enjoy.
Edit: I noticed OP incorrectly stated the DLC price is high to force players to subscribe. His math is way off as the cost of the three DLCs annually is less than a 12 month sub.

What a useless response which does nothing to advance the discussion.
Whether you personally like WoW is entirely meaningless to this discussion. The point is that for a comparable price, WoW (and most AAA MMOs) offer far more content. ESO is slacking because they know people like you will defend them no matter what.
Of course we love ESO. Thats why we're here. But don't you think we deserve more bang for our buck? I just feel like we forget how abnormal this all is. We're paying so much for relatively little.
Wouldn't you rather Summerset be a more diverse, dense place? Wouldn't you welcome new, lore-friendly character customization options? Improvements to PvP? Entirely new game-modes? Wouldn't you welcome more frequent updates to the current expansion as the year(s) go on? That's not asking for much. That is the standard for an "expansion" of this cost. ESO can do so much more, but they don't. Why do you think that is?

To be fair, the content disparity between Summerset (an “expansion”) and battle for azeroth is jarring to say the least.
We got one zone that looks more or less the same.
They got several zones (each larger and more environmentally diverse than the one we got), several new game modes, half a dozen alternate forms for existing races, each with their own lore, a total re-vamp for open world pvp, dozens of mounts to unlock, and that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head.
Sure we love ESO’s expansions because we love ESO. But are we really getting as much value as we could be?
Zenimax isn’t some tiny indie company. According to them, ESO is one of the most popular MMOs in the world. They’re making more than enough money to match WoW’s level of value, whether you personally like WoW or not.

I'd rather have a new DLC every 3 months than a big expansion every 2 years.
I'm not interested in dungeon DLC so I haven't bought a DLC from a loooong time.
