My message would be... "do your research, and do -not- split your craftings over two characters, there are more then enough skill points to have it all on one if you are careful... and you would regret splitting things once motiv knowledge becomes more important..."
My message would be: "pay for subscription and play, there would be nice loyality rewards, you'll always regret not having them".
I played 1,5 months after release and then forgot about game until Thieves Guild was announced...
PC EU, @Enemoriana. Ru.
Houses: Erstwhile Sanctuary as actual Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, Hunter's Glade as werewolf tavern (downstairs), Strident Springs Demesne as adventurer's house.
Wishlist: character slots, attunable stations (have 36/80 sets collected), molten war torte and white gold war torte recipes, Willowpond Haven, Kor and Hildegard houseguests, crown crates.
At the end of the mages guild questline take the Folium Discognitum, you will really thank yourself later. Valaste and the frost staff she rewards you with are not worth it, you idiot.
1. Put all your riding lessons first in inventory, silly, not in speed, because it increases your much needed inventory up 60 slots! More valuable than speed anyway. Even if you have craft bag. Unfortunatly I wasted a month and a half on speed.
2. Put fire staff on your FRONT (single-target) bar and lightning staff on your BACK bar (AOE) on the sorc, not vice versa!
Horde gold and do so quickly cause they will remove Prosperous from the game.
Furthermore, although it seems beneficial, do not gold out all your Prosperous gear for reasons stated above.
Continue to horde gold cause ZoS will introduce housing to ESO.
Don't worry about Cadwell's quest until much later, lest miss the chance to run into some of your greatest friends of all time.
Some time in the future ZoS will introduce housing furniture building blocks under the Alinor title, DO NOT build any of them until they eventually reduce the building cost from 2 Culanda Lacquers to 1.
Don't start building grand arena constructs in your house since ZoS doesn't have attack/spell collision on any of their housing building blocks.
Learn about the Jubilee Event, and farm it in Cyrodiil.

"What's the cross roads of Alessia Castle? I am trying to get pizza delivered."
but in this game I have done pretty good thanks to mistakes I made in other MMO's, probably little things like being more patient about motifs, or not buying a lot of the early store stuff like costumes or mounts that I never ended up using.
now if it was DDO it would have to be, make only one character, and duplicate more dragon scales and imperial globes of blood back in the day for the plat XD
ESO player since beta.
previously full time subscriber, beta-2024, now off and on, game got too disappointing.

Just keep casually playing (aka just doing what the mood hits me with and not worrying about min-maxing). Don't feel obligated to rush to max level, read/listen to the quests as you will only do most once. Look around every once in a while, do not farm stuff when you don't feel like it. Don't feel worried about doing everything on your magsorc crafting included. You will keep him as main, like him the most and never look back. You won't regret it and won't play the rest anyway. Keep playing as you do without worrying you will gimp yourself. In a year and a half time it will still be what you like doing most anyway.
Luckily 1,5 year younger me kinda figured this out from the get go (due to over 10 years of MMO experience prior and knowing i won't have nowhere near as much playtime as when i started out mmo-ing).
All right unfortunately it means I still haven't seen all group content at least once (normal difficulty is fine). I guess about half by now. But hey... not going anywhere anytime soon, so I still have time ^^
