@ Long serving Destro/resto Magblades - Breton/Helf/Delf - how do they compare?

Finding it very very difficult to settle on a race for my main Magblade.
Dunmer was excellent fun using Burning Spell Weave, Elf Bane jools and sticks.
High Elf made me play better (i think lol) due to having that crazy high magicka pool (and that's usuing HW as the only shield - the potential for shield stacking is there for sure, but not much of a fan of that defensive style of play)
I haven't tried Breton yet and am completely unfamiliar with the race - I know its viable as I see lots of vids featuring Breton. But what do they bring to the table that could make them better than H'Elf and D'Elf? Also - do they perform better as a vamp or best as pure Breton?

High elf = well rounded <- Small group
Breton = Best defence <- 1vX

✭I run Breton right now, good for the extra reduction, especially to reduce your main spam. I never run out of resources in bgs nor do I actually need to pop a pot for resources. Resistance comes in handy for when your shields drop; a lot of mag builds running around.
Argonian would be my next choice, good healing and sustain.0 -

✭Well as Breton you can go Vamp.
It's not too safe still, but better than DE or HE
Bigger Spell resists would give you maybe extra 4-5% damage reduction from mag attacks, that is not bad in PVP and nothing in PVE
For PVP I can also recommend go Lizard: that extra resourses on the pot use and immune to poisoned and diseased status is amazing

SpiderCultist✭✭✭✭✭I've had the four races you guys mentioned (breton, altmer, dunmer and argonian) and the only remaining are an argonian and a dunmer. Dunmer for pve and ganking/bombing and lizzard for everything else. With dunmer I go light armor and stack max magicka or proc sets and with argonian I run HA.PC | EU

✭I played a melee Argonian Magblade - the sustain was delicious. But I dunno, its probably the best for someone new to magblade or a fan of lizards
I'm currently trying Breton. Very nice so far but I'm worried about how sustain works. My magicka recovery is 1895 (it was 2100-ish on my D'Elf) BUT the race has 3% magicka reduction cost of abilities would this be enough to offset the recovery loss so I can add another spell damage glyph?
I HATE the way there's no way to see the reduced cost and how this affects sustain.Joined January 2014

✭I main with a Breton. Here are the reasons why:
1. Reduce cost. Over the past few years Zos has made several mathematical calculations resulting in the Nerf of magicka recovery making cost reduction more valuable and useful in my opinion.
2. Increased spell defense cannot be ignored.
3. Character model feels better. You can get a shorter more proportionate character whereas with high elf I feel too tall even on its shortest slider during customization. While this may just be cosmetic and not have any bearing in gameplay the size just feels right to me.
4. Magcka pools are the same between high elf and Breton. Your only really trading 4% extra elemental damage for spell defense. I can tell you an extra 4% elemental isn't going to make or break you in killing a good pvp opponent, but that extra spell resistance could mean the difference between life or death in a clutch situation.o
I also have an alt dunmer. I only go dunmer when I am building a min max Fire mageblade. Using sets like grothdaar, bsw, elf bane, skoria, fire enchanted, torugs, infused, etc,
But for balance and versatility I main a Breton.Legacy of Kain

✭Breton passive was less appealing pre morrowind. I wouldn’t go argonian purely for the potion passive because magblade doesn’t even need that one. It just compliments magblade in conjunction with the extra heals.
At this point I’ve played everything besides sorc and stam dk at max. I don’t there’s any reason why you should run out of resources on a destro/resto magblade with alchemy up and good pots. Plus citrus fillet is amazing.Edited by CatchMeTrolling on August 18, 2018 6:22PM0 -

After reading your post, just will let you know that Breton is garbage bro. Breton is red-headed step child of magicka races.
Go Dunmer for a purely offensively oriented role or Argonian for a balance between offense and defensive capabilities.0
