Significantly worse FPS after Wolfhunter patch

nordic_two
After Wolfhunter I've been seeing significantly worse FPS. In some locations it still gets to 60-100 FPS but in towns it is way worse than before. I am seeing anywhere from 15 to 30 FPS in some towns now whereas before it was 40+ in those same towns.

I tried renaming the usersettings file then redoing my options but that doesnt appear to have helped.

I was on the same Nvidia driver before and after the patch, but I also tried updating and that did not help either.

Nothing changed on my PC before/after the patch so it is likely an ESO issue not local to my computer. I also tried updating drivers and resetting the usersettings file and repairing the game. None of that helped.

Fps has decreased and delay in pvp has increased after the patch, please fix , I' m not the only one that has experienced that, my pvp mates too.. I sent a feedback yesterday directly from the game. I hope you can improve the performance ! Thanks.

Just to take note, perhaps it will help others:

I got the performance hit too and credited it to Wolfhunter; I tried everything from removing addons (one by one), deleting Usersettings and Shadercache, reparing, reinstalling, updating drivers, to no avail. The game was virtually unplayable; I got one digit FPS in Rawlkah, and it was generally impossible to travel safely because of choppy movements. I could keep playing without problems on my Mac, though.

Then I remembered that the day after Wolfhunter release, it was Windows Patch day, including one of the rare instances Windows 7 got updated. In a last desperate attempt, I deleted the last two updates from Microsoft (those that came out around 15/08), rebooted - and everything is smooth as it ever was. I could recreate the same scenario on an old laptop and my sons' desktop (yeah, we're no Windows 10 family), so it was definitely the update. So if you happen to run Windows 7, give this solution a try!

I'm having the same problem and I, too, followed the suggestions of lowering shadow, reflection, and renaming the usersettings file. I have terrible FPS in Stros M'Kai with hardly any players around. This is worse than anything I've experienced in the game since beta. My graphics card drivers are up to date and I run on Windows 8.1.

My FPS is terrible in towns, but it also suffers in the field with no one around or hardly anyone around. It is constantly bouncing around from 20-50, sometimes going as low as the teens. I used to get a smooth 50-60 outside of towns. I only have the map pin addon activated, but even when I deactivated it, it didn't change anything even after a reload ui. I don't think this is my computer as it was fine or better in the past. I'm not having this problem on any other games, either. I would greatly appreciate it if this could be fixed.

For me FPS are decreasing over time since patch. I start out for example with 70-100FPS, then after a while it goes down to around 50FPS and later it ends up around 30FPS. This happens while staying in the same area like Deshan or Khenarthis Roost. I can go back to the places where i started with high FPS but wont reach them anymore. Only Relog or switching areas changes this. I didnt experience this before. My temperatures are fine btw. I am on Windows 10.

    Glad it worked for you!!

I contacted Microsoft and had them walk me through how to delete updates that wouldn't install but unfortunately, ESO is still booting me to the Login screen after about 5-10 min of play ...many latency spikes. I ran ESO prior to Wolfhunter update on HIGH graphic settings without big issues. Had some trouble in dungeons with lag and occasional booting but nothing like this.

I don't know the temp however, I am getting latency and then booted to login screen. Prior to Wolfhunter, never or rarely was booted. Had my graphics settings previously on HIGH. After Wolfhunter, can't play more than 5-10 min without being kicked to login screen. I'm not necessarily doing anything...other than picking mats from resource nodes in Kenarthis. I ran the ESO min system requirement checker and it said I meet all min req. Bethesda told me since Wolfhunter, system req changed and I no longer meet those. Yet, their checker said otherwise.

    That sounds horrible...

Well i am on Msi 980gtx, i5 6600k, 16gb fast ram, gaming mb.. so i dont see why i am droppin on Khenartis to 19fps and stayin in the 20ies after a while... I dont even run highest settings... The game was always playable for me. But this isnt. And it has nothing to do with my System Specs. I hardly believe that for example a newer GPU would fix this.

A possible solution that worked for me since the latest patch is to uninstall GeForce experience (not the game driver), see if that makes a difference.

My fps was still ok after re-downloading and re-nstalling GeForce experience (just the program, not the game driver package).

I don´t use GeForce Experience. My system is rather streamlined. I try not to use anything that slows it down unnecessarily. But thank you for your advice anyway!! I also tried uninstalling Master Merchant, but it helps only marginally. I don´t use many Addons in general. There is almost nothing on my Gaming HD except ESO. It could & should run better... but it doesn´t ;)

Yep, i've been having the exact same issue. Before Wolfhunter 60fps no problem, after Wolfhunter 10-25 fps

From 8:00 this morning until 9:00 or so I was kicked three times. My frame rate went from 50+ just yesterday and today it was hanging around 20's in Stormhaven, glenumbra, and alikr. Then, I got spikes from 300-999+ and eventually got booted. My pc isn't running hot after I changed the graphics from low, like ZOS suggested, back to my previous high setting. It runs warm to moderately cool now. It also isn't revving up like when it was set on low. Now it doesn't seem to strain at all. It's just horrible, horrible fps and latency spikes.Nothing in particular causes it. I can be standing still in the middle of a field and the latency acts up. I can fighting ONE wolf and the latency acts up. But two days ago....I was on for hours in kenarthis and never got booted until late morning. I don't know. Makes no sense.

I'm having similar issues with LATENCY in the past couple of weeks, or so. I haven't changed anything about my setup, and it used to run very consistently in the 85 - 125 ms range at 50-60fps with all graphics maxed, even in congested areas in Reapers March. Never even had issues with Alik'r Desert Dark Anchors during the busiest times.

Now, I can't even play those Dolmens because the latency is so bad. The mobs appear and are killed even before they show up for me, so I never get a chance to get in a strike to engage combat. Ridiculous.

Other areas that aren't even heavily populated still consistently run 200ms (minimum) to over 400ms, making combat difficult if not impossible. Others in my guilds have complained about the same thing. ZOS, we don't think this is a player/machine issue. It's more than likely on your end. We're all wasting time tweaking this and that, but it's pretty obvious from our side that one of the last updates is responsible for this, so please take care of it. Meanwhile I've stopped playing for any stretches of time because of this, only logging on to get daily horse training or other mundane things.

OK. So I started to see in degrade in performance also. I did as @Chickenstein said and removed 1 windows update and I got a boost in FPS. The update is KB4344149 (installed on 15.08.2018). It's a .net framework update.

Same problem. After Wolf Hunter update, overall fps become lower, crazy fps drops while scrolling inventory, constant fps lose over time while staying in same zone=/ Need to be fixed.
And my pc overpowerfull for system requirements of this game, and i wasnt changed anything in it in this few weeks, so its clearly update fault....

Fixed my problem. I created a new discussion. My issue was "pending installs" from Windows 10 an HP and Intel update that was either corrupted or something. I used wushowhide program to hide these corrupted downloads and my system runs like a gem. No latency. Decent FPS. No booting. Here's a link to the discussion I created. I REALLY hope this helps someone.

Nice that this works for you! Sounds adventurous, though ;)

My problems aren´t related to this and occur only in ESO. I have no problems with booting/kicks. My FPS is just dropping after a while.

I've been having serious latency issues too. The weird thing is, it *says* I'm getting the same ping I used to, but it's obviously not. My sweeps won't connect. My spear will take a few seconds to hit the ground. I keep getting that thing where your character looks like they are holding their staff behind them winding it up, none of my abilities going off, and then they'll all go off all at once.

It's absolutely terrible. I have really good internet and a really good PC, and the game was working way better previously.

I'm sorry you're struggling with the same thing. I have not logged back into the game since I had the problems. I've mostly been keeping an eye out here to see if anyone had any suggestions I haven't tried or if ZOS fixed the issues. One of my favorite games is being shut down soon, so I've been focusing on it more. I promise to let you know as soon as I get back on again if anything has changed or if I have any success with anything else I try.
