Should you be able to exchange radiant apex mounts?

    Yet another conditional, tailored-to-the-poster poll.

No. The whole concept of crates is that you don't get a choice.

If you want a choice, buy a horse from the stable.

Yes, as long as they are the radiant apex mounts from the same season
I'm a big fan of "user choice" over RNG hell.
imho crates should contain tokens, then let the player decide which mount/pet/whatever he'll get for the token.

There'd be a lot more happy customers.. and a happy customer is likely to return and buy more crates in other seasons.
But I'm afraid ZOS has too many whalers in marketing!?

Very glad department stores aren't like this. Imagine getting a box of random clothes you bought and it could be male, it could be female, it could be for a baby, it could be for an adult, could be a swimming suit, could be winter boots. Who knows! But no returns!

    What a terrible thought.

I hate the gambling aspect of crown crates, and think the entire system should be scrapped for an outright purchase. But at the minimum, because I realise that's unlikely, I think everything you get from a crown crate should be exchangeable for gems.

So I been salty since November . .. I really just don't care about Radiant Apex mounts anymore. I shouldn't have in the first place but oh well.

Yes, it's easy to see how little you care now. You obviously learned your lesson about investing too much 'care' into a virtual mount out of a random virtual crate of items, as 7+ months later you're making polls about it.
since heck, I know people who make fake excuses as to why they weren't able to buy a previous mount for sale no longer available and they let them have it.

      nope.
It's my one and only Radiant Apex mount and I hate it. :(

      What a terrible thought.

You call that a terrible thing but it's because you're applying it to wrong analogies. This idea is applied to other forms of consumer goods irl already.

If you go out and buy a mixed bag of candy, it' the exact same. You don't pick what candies are inside, you get what you get. Maybe you'll get Sweedish Berries, maybe you'll just get 70% Sour Patch Kids in your bag. Regarless every bag is $2 and has x grams of candy in it.

Maybe for clothing the system makes no sense - as clothing is 'uniquely' tailored to individuals - but when you consider 'assorted goods' as a category, yeah it kinda makes sense....

If you didn't have Kinder Eggs or Goodie Bags (grab bags) for sweets and toys growing up, then I pity your childhood - and I pity how the lack of these things translated into your views in adult life. Those things, as kids, we used to love the "RNG" - the mystery of having no choice whether what you get is crap or good.... that was the intended thrill of it....

Doing this would be a step in the right direction for crates. IMO, to fix crates one would want to:
      • Eliminate the ability to draw duplicates of non-consumable items
      • Eliminate randomness from high tier rewards and let the player choose what they want

Of course we should be able to trade them. If Zenimax was smart enough this would have been done on day one. After all then these "crown crates" would be more like hockey/baseball cards instead of gambling. Since we can't trade them it is basically gambling.

Now if we can trade them it would be more like "collecting" Magic/Baseball/Hockey cards.

I would like to see better "exchange rates" for the turning in stuff for gems, and an option to "turn in" something you don't already have.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
      ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

These mounts EXIST solely to get people to buy crown crates.

This is how a F2P game works.

Whatever technicalities you want to try to leverage, the point remains - it's a cosmetic item sold in random boxes that are entirely optional to purchase to offset the cost of those who use the servers but do not wish to subscribe. You are not owed a an easy path to rare drops from boxes that are sold with disclaimers of their RNG nature that are completely at your discretion to purchase or not.

These demands and requests are just weird.

Should be able to turn any apex mount into gems. Radiant apex mounts shouldn't exist unless they're buy-able with gems.

To answer OPs question, the answer is clearly no. He said that in his OP.

Does he want to be able to exchange mounts is a different story and for that it would vary from person to person.

If someone has an issue with the design of these crown crates they really should not purchase them. Complaining after spending tones of money supporting the crates and how they work seems backwards.

Of course they should facilitate exchanging a disliked mount for a preferred mount.

If someone gets the radiant apex camel but they are fans of the senche, then of course zeni should facilitate an exchange if a polite request is placed. It's not about gambling or cash shop or gems or any of that. It's about customer service. If the customer comes out of the transaction deflated or dismayed, the chance of that person continuing to be a customer drops.

      Example: Me.

The first set of crown crates, it was poorly explained how the mechanism for exchanging things for gems functioned. I thought any item could be turned into gems, not only the duplicates or tangible items, so I got the large crate pack. Then I got a bunch of costume items I had absolutely no desire for, including a hat that sparked a solid dislike on sight. So I converted the few consumables for gems, took a look at the things I did not like at all including the hated hat, and turned my back on buying crates. I can deal with a cruddy exchange rate because even then it means that it's not an infinite grind to an apex mount. But by making the crate system function as a hill to climb that grows in size every time they add new mementos / appearance doodads / etc, they lost me as a crate customer.

Kinder eggs have only recently being added to the United States stores. They were illegal in America because we apparently would choke on them. :D But the Kinder Eggs we have now are separated when you crack it open. one side has the candy and other other half the toy. But when I am with my boyfriend in Canada I would buy the Kinder eggs and I even got the toy I wanted! I got the cute little black cat with the raincoat! I keep him in my car. The Kinder bars though......soo much better than the eggs.

But, there's a big difference between a $2 bag of candy and $40+ of a digital skin which, when ESO shuts down it's servers, will never be able to be accessed again. Such is life.

Luck of the draw and all that, I am guessing so people who really, really want something keep gambling their money away...

But it -would- be neat if they allowed something at least. Like a voluntary exchange of gambling wins at a 2:1 basis... get a mount you don't like, exchange it for a "flawless crown gem" instead, and be able to buy the one you do like for two of those... apex mounts might give you 2 flawless gems, but buying one might cost five...
