Free 30 day confusion.

I'm really confused, getting kind of mixed replies on the subject. I pre-purchased the game on the 30th, and it informed me that I would essentially have a free 30 day trial, I don't recall it mentioning that in order to get my 30 days free, I had to pay a subscription.

On my account page, it says my subscription status is still early access, but to add to my confusion, below it in the details tab, it says that I do indeed have 30 days of game time. Though it's still saying I need to set up a subscription... so are my 30 free days active?

I don't understand this either. are you going to charge my card right now even though I paid $80.00 for the imperial digital edition?

it's just a subscription plan, when you chose it, prepaid 30day period will be activated. Just did this.

It actually is mentioned that you have to sub to gain the 30 days. BUT it is supposed to be free when you use your preferred payment method to setup the sub options. In this case they have a pre-authorization charge (like many companies do, usually a temporary hold of a dollar in your bank) for the entire sub fee. It will go away eventually, but it will probably charge you first. As lame as the full sub price of the temporary pre-auth charge is, it isn't the worst thing. The worst is as soon as you put in your codes and your sub option info, you lose access to the free 2 days they added for those with early access.

so when you did choose your subscription plan, did you actually pay for it right now or not? that's the biggest question that's bothering me. I don't want to pay for 30 days right now, I just want to activate my free 30 days, but I'm afraid that the payment will be charged.

Read the first sticky in this forum. It answers your exact question.

Yes, and no. They will charge you a pre-authorization charge equal to whatever your sub fee normally would be. A pre-auth charge (better described as a hold) is used to verify the authenticity of an account and is generally as low as an amount as they can get away with, usually $.01 or $1. In this case they charge the entire amount. BUT it should be, eventually, returned to you. Usually these are just temporary holds and whether it actually takes it out of your bank account is unclear and dependent on your bank.

For instance, the standard $14.99/month option will put a hold (or straight up charge you) $14.99 BUT after some (dependent on your bank) time it will be released (or refunded). These times can be a few minutes, a few hours, or even a few days, and that isn't counting the fact that this weekend will probably mean it will take until Tuesday to release/refund the charge.

If you can't afford whatever amount you are planning on subbing for, it might be safer to wait until we get clear word on how this is handled or until you know you can afford a temporary loss of cash.
