PTS not loading my Regular game toons

Aloha, hello and good day to you.

So, prior to the new werewolf stuff in Public test server, there was scale caller mountain dungeon. I was able to get into all that stuff using characters from my normal side PC , NA windows game. Now, I try to load in pts to use my already maxed out champion point character and all I get is a new, level 4, die as soon as you walk thru a door toon.

What gives? Why is this happening and when is it going to be fixed?

I'm sorry I will not be spending half my life in PTS just to test out a dungeon soon to be released to give feed back if everything in tamreil including mudcrabs and skeevers can kill me in one snip.

How is that fair, and how is that proper testing?

Please fix this issue.

This is not a bug but normal behaviour on the PTS. For half the test cycle, the NA characters are copied over, for the other half it's the EU characters. If your normal characters are not there and you want to test endgame contents, create a new character as a template (there is a dropdown box in the upper left corner of the character creation window - select Wolfhunter first, then start creating your character). As a template character, this one will have access to all skills, have a lot of skill points, mats, most set gear and so on. Plus max CP.
There is absolutely no problem testing anything just because you don't have your normal characters available at the time.

Btw. you can also see before logging in which characters are on PTS right now. The info box under the username and password fields usually states the current copies and the date from when the copies are.

You characters are not shared, but they are copied. Nothing done on a character on PTS is ever seen on live. Right now I am pretty sure EU server characters were copied to PTS. So, if your characters are on NA server then they will not be on PTS. Use a template character to test.

Good morning, (is for me) so I realize and hear you say they EU is currently copied right now, but I don't play on that server. I went there once or twice and have one low level, level 4 character. Why and when did this change? And if it makes a copy, wouldn't the copy of my NA toons still be there from when scalecaller PTS was running?

I have a video someone posted of those dungeons that I happened to have been in using my NA toon with full access to cp and gear. I'm trying to figure out the process here, meaning, and if I understand you, you and or everyone is going to speculate that Zenimax switches the server in which they will allow "A" copy of that servers players accounts, and when they periodically switch, the previous server is over written with the new server account copies.

Is that what you are saying?

So right now you said it's EU.

So if ZOS decided to make it / switch to NA, I'll have my copies again, and also then will not see my low level 4 from the EU server?

Do I have that right? It's superseded in priority?

Since people can play on both servers, there are.characters with the same names. So, they blow out all NA characters during the time the Euro characters are copied, and vice versa.

Bottom line, when your tirn is up, you will have your characters, if not, then you use the template

It's been this way since the beginning. It's a test environment, so for part of the time, they copy NA characters from live to PTS, where those with NA characters can use them to test things. Then, after a couple weeks, they copy the EU characters from live to the PTS. This overwrites the copy of the NA characters.

So, while NA characters are copied over, EU players can only test with template characters (or copies of any characters they might have on the NA server). Then, when EU characters are copied to the PTS, EU players can test with their own characters and NA players have to use template characters (or any EU characters they might have on the EU server).

At all times, players can either create a new character or use a template character. But, only when their characters are copied over from live can they use their own characters. The PTS is ONE server, so it cannot handle characters from both live servers at once. I'm guessing there might be more reasons why, but Nestor mentioned the fact that there may be characters on both live servers with the same name, which works on live because they are different servers. But, since PTS is only one server, you cannot have the possibility of two characters with the same name on the same server.

ETA: When you tested Scalecaller on the PTS, you happened to be testing at a time when the NA characters were copied over.

This person was live streaming PTS scale caller and I happened to have joined his session in dungeon finder, as you can see I'm playing with my NA server stamplar. I know I was lazy that day and should have streamed as well, but I didn't. I only assumed I knew what I knew, now that I know better and how it works, I'm fine with that.
