30 Day Free Trial Question, regarding using 30 day trial after launch

So in all likelihood I will not have the ability nor the time to play TESO for the upcoming month, however, I did pre-order the game.

What I am confused by is the wording of the free 30 day offer, can it only be redeemed if you purchase a subscription immediately after launch(or sometime around then), or can I begin my free 30 days in May? Thanks for any help!

You begin your 30 day trial on launch day.

So I have no way of delaying that to a time when I can actually play the game? I'm currently stuck dealing with a college internet that for some reason this game's servers are not compatible with(although I could play GW2 and WoW if I so desired).

If this is truly the case I am extremely disappointed. I pre-orderd on the assumption, firstly that I would actually be able to play the game when it launched (and not be greeted with a "login timeout" error every time I try to log into the servers[can't even get to character select]), and secondly, that I would be allowed to use my free 30 days whenever I liked.

Well, don't you begin your trial once you register your code? as we don't now have to register till Sunday morning, therefore actually getting a couple more days access...so from that, I'd say it *can* wait until May, rather than starting today. That's how I understood it, anyway...

@natev215‌ I guess you will find out on Sunday. Just wonder have you attempted to contact your college network admins and have them open ports to ZOS servers?

Okay, lets hope that is the case. Admittedly their wording for the trial was a bit confusing. It'd be interesting to hear from someone from Zenimax, just to know what my options are.

I have tried to have them open ports before, it's not something they are willing to do for "security" reasons.

Lol, bad network admins at your college then.

So what's confusing me is... do I have to subscribe in order to get my free month? I don't recall it mentioning anything like that on the pre-purchase page. When I checked my account, it said that I have 30 days remaining.

I like the game and I want to continue playing, but I just won't be able to set up an actual subscription until later in the month. So do I get the free days by default, or do I have to sub first?

I agree, I've attempted to have them open ports but they just say for security reasons they cannot. Regardless we have moderate NAT and I can play other MMOs like GW2 and WoW, so I don't know what the deal is and why ESO is any different (besides the megaserver structure).

Mine does not say anything like that. Did you pre-order the digitial copy? I bought the physical copy so I'm assuming I'll get a physical 30 day trial code when pick up the game.

Mine says I have 30 days left, but would not let me even log into the game until I paid more $$

A lot of free-30 day trial things I've done have you input your info and pretend like you are going to continue paying (so in case you forget to remove your info, they can charge you another month). You can usually opt to remove your info immediately after activating the free trial though, so this might be the case with this game's 30 day trial.

With physical copy one I would definitely say your trial will begin when you activate your code.

Where does it give you this information? In game? Or at account.elderscrollsonline.com/users/account?

Okay, hopefully it will work out this way in my case so I will be able to hold off on the free 30 days until I can actually play the darn game haha.

I Have the digital copy by the way, if that matters.

Is it true our early release characters get deleted on Sunday or do we continue with them?

@natev215 I was actually wondering the exact thing myself. It'd be better if I could activate my 30 free days at a later date.

Unfortunately, it seems even with the physical copy, there is no way of redeeming the 30 days at a later date, it also will not allow you to register your game without subscribing...kinda pisses me off cause I don't want to spend 15 bucks when I won't be able to play the game for the 1st month I'd be paying for because my college internet won't let me...

I got the digital copy and 30 day sub, it mentioned the 30 day free trial but it hasn't been added. And unless I'm blind, I see no prompts what-so-ever to get the 30 day free trial.

I'm sure you start the 30 days only when you redeem the code, but then it asks you for payment info for next month and seems to be taking the whole amount out as a test payment which is then returned, but might take a while depending on your bank. Other threads abound just for that part. I haven't tried it yet myself.

Early access characters should still be there just fine, only beta characters were wiped.
If at first you don't succeed, keep trying. And again. Eat a cookie, read a wiki, I dunno, just try to relax, the frustration will only give you a headache.

I'm afraid I can't find the thread right now, but a few hours ago someone with the same question said they got confirmation from cs that the 30 free days activate whenever you choose to set up a payment plan. However, I still went ahead and bought 30 days because, well, even CS people may get their info wrong sometimes and I didn't want to risk losing the free month.
Have you contacted them about this?
