I think they were pretty much contemporary, but y'know, it's 35 years and my memory is fuzzy at the best of times. I do remember being jealous of my neighbour's CPC464 (the one with the cassette) which was certainly rather more impressive than my Dragon: might've had a creaky old Z80, but aside from that, the graphics and sound were awesome and its Locomotive Basic was much better than the crappity MS Basic I was lumbered with.
