Oh wait, they're already here, a shame people seem to have forgotten that Cyrodiil is also a PvE zone, yet PvE is made practically impossible because of PvP, even in locations where there are no Alliance War elements implemented, save for literally killing someone.

I'm honestly surprised it took you this long to figure out that the PvP players in this game are, generally speaking, the lowest of the low. Been two years since I first figured that out, kept going to Cyrodiil anyway, only to be proven right pretty much every time.

Because there's really no place in Cyrodiil that's solely a PVE zone. The PVE quests are simple because they are designed to be done with the threat of PVP. The entire zone is a PVP zone that happens to have some PVE elements. I used to be PVE only when I first went to Cyrodiil for fish and skyshards, but I understood that I was walking into a PVP zone.

OP steps into a PvP environment that he knows is a PvP environment and is surprised he found PvP? How is that dishonorable?

Of course that does not show a lack of honor on anyone's part.

First of, I manly PVE, have only ever stepped into Cyrodiil to get vigor and caltrops for my Stam characters. So I decide to go into Cyrodiil to work on the fishing achievement. I go way out to a remote fishing spot in some far corner of the map, no where near any battle or anything, and proceed to start fishing. After about the 4th cast, I get ganked and killed before I can even blink. So why, way out in the middle of nowhere, did someone find it necessary to kill me? Just goes to prove that PVP'ers are the lowest and they have no honor.

WoW id hate to see you in older mmo that allowed/had pk systems.

all is fair in love and war, just like real life no one is safe on the battle field. in most real life wars, civilians have high death rates then most armies.

I find people who complain about petty stuff have no honor and are the lowest. Tell me this, what difference is it between a player or a mob? mobs re-spawn and players can camp. In both cases you can die

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Cyrodiil myself. Largely because if you are trying to do something PvE related (quests, skyshard hunting, etc), and you get ganked, it's a ridiculously long horse ride to get back to where you were.

Some ideas off the top of my head (your mileage may vary with success rates):

1.) Create a perma-stealth outfit. In my case, I use Night's Silence (Crafted, ignore movement penalty of Sneak) and Darkstride (Rivenspire found set, reduces cost of Sprint and Sneak by 50%). Craft medium and put in a few stealth-related Medium Armor perks to help maximize it, but you don't need to go crazy with further Sneak cost reductions (like spending CP), as the above alone makes 20K worth of Stamina last a LONG time while in stealth. You can't mount, but if you have the resources, crafting Night's Silence jewelry or transmuting Darkstride (or other) jewelry with "Swift" traits can help your travel speed greatly while avoiding any casual ganking.

My stealth set has eliminated most of the stress of Cyrodiil, and I was able to explore in relative peace. Keep some invis potions handy as well, just in case. Also, there are sets that reduce detection radius, etc, but these I found weren't quite as useful around NPCs with ubervision.

2.) Create a high-health/defense outfit. In my testing, I could not remain stealthed while fishing, meaning you're an open target. Since gankers rely on dropping you to zero health instantly, PvE builds that have 15-20k health are susceptible. I haven't personally tried this in Cyrodiil, but I have a tank that uses Fortified Brass and Plauge Doctor. If there's a way to build around just surviving, maybe you can stretch the battle on long enough that they get the hint and leave. Heals and shields are half as effective, but might help also. Look over tank builds and see what works.

3.) Bring a buddy to play lookout/chaperone. Have them maintain a large AoE, strategically placed to break stealth of someone trying to get within combat range. Plus, they can help in combat if someone does try to kick up a fuss. On the flipside, though, some AoEs are flashy and may actually draw attention.

4.) Try not to let it get to you. The event is a good time to hop into one of the limited-time newly-added (and often low-population) campaigns, but as others have mentioned, everyone is out for blood because double AP. If it's really getting your goat, research PvP builds and take vengeance upon those who have wronged you with bloody, bloody murder.

Hope this helps a little! :)

Seriously.... it's why I won't be doing anything in Cyrodiil. Back when in WoW, I actually raided with a guild of friends on a PvP server. I got ganked a few times, and it was really hard to get even one kill of my own with my lag (which was actually worse back then than it is now, so probably around 2.5 seconds back then), but I did manage it - without help; MUCH more by good luck than good management though....

Truthfully, it wasn't the PvP that sent me off - it was the raiding. I don't play games to have a job!

The achievement exists to get you in Cyrodiil so that gankers can have someone to gank. You do realize this right? Same thing with the Skyshard achievement. This is an opportunity to get a bunch of friends together to all get the achievement together because there is safety in numbers.

Really, designed to be done with the threat of PvP? You sure about that?

What about the Fighter's Guild repeatable quests, for the Black Dagger bandits, Goblins, Gray Vipers, and Shadowed Path?

And that's only counting the quests that have little to do with the Alliance War; they were not designed at all to be done with the threat of PvP. The quests in Vlastarus, Cropsford, and Bruma, sure, those were, there's a reason why they aren't regular towns like Cheydinhal or Chorrol, but rather Alliance Settlements, for those that PvP threat is meant to be present, not for the rest.

Those are short, simple quests, including the dailies at Chorrol and Cheydinhal. Far less complex than most PVE quests. So yeah, designed to be done with the threat of PVP, especially considering that Cyrodiil was always designed as a PVP zone.

You want to complain about a PVE quest with actual content locked behind a PVP zone, take a look at Imperial City instead. There's actual substance in those quests, far more than anything you'll find in Cyrodiil.

I'll say to you the same thing I said during the anniversary event, another time when PVPers had reasons to be doing the dailies and fighting other players. "Cyrodiil is a PVP zone. Prepare for PVP or don't complain when you die after failing to prepare."

You went into PvP during an event for PvE reasons. Possibly denying a player seeking to take part in the event. And youre a victim becaue someone fairly targeted you in a PvP Zone?

It’s really amazing that you don’t realize how much danger is all over Cyrodiil until you to go ganking and realize how often you are not alone in an area watching for a slip up.

Ironically, you probably got killed by a panicky pve player who was also there to fish. Or was desparate for easy targets because it’s the only way he’ll get 50 kills.

Most pvpers don’t bother killing fishermen.

This ^ You need to grow some thicker skin OP. It’s pretty damn annoying and short-sighted when people like you assume that all of us pvp’ers are just evil monsters and call us the, “lowest of the low” just because you had one ”bad” experience.

I wouldn’t have killed you, nor would have many other fellow pvpers. But guess what, you walked into a pvp zone and got pvp’ed to death. Deal with it. If you can’t, then maybe you need to stay out of Cyrodiil.

Chances you got undone by a NB are high. Cyro-NBs have no honor, so - surprise, surprise. B)

I think most avoid me when they find out even when they try to stealth attack me that I can survive their assault and kill them... probably why they try and then when they get pissed they can't kill me they try to get a zerg to kill me...

The only time I got ganked doing the Cyro fishing was once when I was with a couple of friends. The rest of it I did solo, including IC.
I did discover a method whereby you can hide AFTER you cast your line. So if you were to do so, and you spotted another player, don't reel in the fish and you'll stay hidden. You only get Detected if you reel it in.

(Having said that, I never got anyone on a different faction to confirm it. Just that if you crouch then cast, the eye will close.)

Once my crafting guild organized a cross-faction fishing event in a slow campaign. We used Discord to coordinate. It was so fun :D Those of us with PVP experience helped protect those who weren't comfortable there. Yeah we had encounters, but it's a PVP focused zone, to which we knowingly went into, and I would totally do it again.

If you're going fishing in real life, you should come prepared for incidental hazards of the environment. It's the same fishing in a PVP zone, come prepared. You might be fishing, but to players, you are an enemy combatant. They have no way of knowing if you're fishing to pass the time while you wait for your zerg to arrive so you can attack the nearby objective.

You don't need to gear up to fight because if you're inexperienced you're probably just going to mash buttons and lose (and that's ok!), but you need to gear/skill up to survive and escape. That means: wear heavy armour (7 pieces if you can, and stack impenetrable traits), sword/board, resto staff, slot Radiant Magelight on both bars and have Rapid Maneuver and/or Purge on at least one; if you don't have the Shadowy Disguise skill, bring invisibility potions (the Roguish Stealth draughts that you get from Thieves Troves are great).

If you are wearing 5+ heavy armour pieces, most ganks will not hurt your health much, and radiant magelight on your bar will prevent you from getting stunned by a ganker's stealth attack and reduce the damage. Rapid Maneuver or Purge will remove any snares. Running Impen will significantly reduce attackers' critical damage done against you, and if you really want to survive, consider changing your CP for when you go fishing in PVP areas to max defense/escape - dump everything into reducing player damage to you and your own recovery and mobility (roll dodge cost reduction is great).

    But better yet, bring friends.

See how easy it is to switch that around? The whole stigma between “pve and pvp players” is just plain ignorant. You can’t lump a whole group of people into the “bad” bag simply because there are some bad examples here and there
