Proof of no honor in PVP

First of, I manly PVE, have only ever stepped into Cyrodiil to get vigor and caltrops for my Stam characters. So I decide to go into Cyrodiil to work on the fishing achievement. I go way out to a remote fishing spot in some far corner of the map, no where near any battle or anything, and proceed to start fishing. After about the 4th cast, I get ganked and killed before I can even blink. So why, way out in the middle of nowhere, did someone find it necessary to kill me? Just goes to prove that PVP'ers are the lowest and they have no honor.

Chances you got undone by a NB are high. Cyro-NBs have no honor, so - surprise, surprise. B)

People came to Cyrodiil to kill other people. You can't blame them for not giving you a free pass.

    My advice?

Either leave that achievement alone for a couple of months or years until you can make a nice PvP build OR put extra effort into that achievement and only fish in Cyrodiil in early (or extra late) hours.

Fishing in a PVP zone? Expect to have PVP happen.

My first PVP kill was when I got ganked while fishing. I was fishing by Lake Rumare when a vampire attacked me. On my Dunmer MagDK. I'm pretty sure my extra fire damage was the only reason I won because my PVE only self sure didn't know what I was doing!

Ive since been ganked while fishing and had 2 AD players chasing me in IC stop and leave me alone once I pulled out a fishing rod. I've had similar reactions in delves hunting for skyshards. Some people fight, others leave me alone if I leave them alone.

Honor has nothing to do with it. Its a PVP zone. Expect PVP.

We've all been there OP. It's the same even when Mayhem is off and you just want to something like collect skyshards or clear all the "quests" in Cyrodiil. You can be in some backwater end of the map and if you see another opposing player you can kiss your sweet behind goodbye.

IMO it wouldn't be nearly as bad if it didn't take 560 hours to move from one end of Cyrodiil to the other on a maxed horse, and if the respawn points weren't 50082 km apart.

What I tend to do is if I see them first, I won't attack, but I'll do an emote or something to try and show peacefulness. This has actually worked out well a few times as the players then just moved on to do their own thing as well, but it won't always be like that.

Because people suck. The good thing is that with the event going on, there are a couple of campaigns that are fairly empty much of the time, so you might be able to use those for fishing until the event ends. (Good for collecting skyshards in Cyrodiil, too.)

good advice. i finished up master angler in cyrodil the week prior to this 'event,' and was never attacked by an enemy player.

granted, i did a lot of stealthing and fished on the sly as much as possible, but i was never ganked. learn the spots and how to get into them while hidden. take your time and look around, get a feel for where those places are in relation to the map, objectives, enemy traffic, etc.

    good luck.

Well doesn't fishing in a conflict zone instead of fighting for your side's banner feel a bit like a lapse in honor? I guess it all depends on someone's definition of honor. Traditionally, a king defines his honor as his right to take anything he wants, maybe the guy felt like he was a king and deserved your AP. It was dishonorable for you to not put up a fight.

During the Anniversary Event there were a lot of players in every faction who did not attack anyone doing the quests in the towns. Some players would hold block indicating that they had no intention of fighting. You could even kill guards that prevented you from entering a house with a quest giver and as long as you did not attempt to flip the flag other players would often ignore you.

However, there were also players who took advantage of this event in order to get easy kills on pvers. This is to be expected in a PvP zone. Even when I knew that there were enemy players not attacking others I still stealthily accepted/turned in quests rather than simply being out in the open. I played even more cautiously the further away I was from a keep I could respawn to. I also made sure to do the quests on a relatively empty campaign. By the time the event was over I was able to get the Cyrodiil Champion achievement.

    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

or maybe it was just a jerk.....best to reverse it continue fishing out in the open...but have 23 friends remain hidden nearby...this way you become the bait and its real cyro fishin!

But when fishing in PvP land set your gear and skills correctly...there are ways to go unseen.

''Cyrodiil is a PvP zone, expect PvP!'' comments...

Oh wait, they're already here, a shame people seem to have forgotten that Cyrodiil is also a PvE zone, yet PvE is made practically impossible because of PvP, even in locations where there are no Alliance War elements implemented, save for literally killing someone.

I'm honestly surprised it took you this long to figure out that the PvP players in this game are, generally speaking, the lowest of the low. Been two years since I first figured that out, kept going to Cyrodiil anyway, only to be proven right pretty much every time.

I love how you attack PvP players as a whole because you wandered into a PvP zone and let your guard down. You can fish while stealthed you know, and there will only be minùte pockets of time where you're visible.

I usually leave people alone that clearly aren’t trying to fight , I don’t care if it’s a pvp zone people only use that logic when it’s convenient. If cyrodiil being a pvp zone meant we should kill everyone just because then why don’t good players attack each other most of the time and friends leave each other be.

Unfortunately some people act like they never gotten a kill before. Usually these people are prone to chasing one person down, being thirsty and seeing someone getting xv1ed and jumping in it.

I know how to leave people be the same way I know there’s others who do too. Plenty of times where people see me between two alliances by myself and leave me be it all depends on who you come across.

You probably got killed by a PvEer who's good for feck all else. It's them all ganking in the towns right now on their OP blades.

    totally agree.

otoh, there are some players you really need to chase down, b/c the instant you break off pursuit, they will turn, maybe throw down a camp, rez their friends, and come after you, straightaway.

Situational awareness is really important. Were you near a bridge? Near a path to an outpost or fort?

If you're going to fish in PVP you should really invest in some Impen armor, for your risky fishing expedition. Good luck!
