How do you handle fake tanks

I usually queue as an actual tank.

But if Im on my healer or DPS in a random normal and keep getting boss aggro and its obvious the tank isn't taunting, I handle it by asking the tank to please slot a taunt. Im not going to pretend that they are doing their job properly,

They usually dont, so I proceed to have to deal with the boss in my face, which I can handle but is nonetheless annoying. If I wanted to tank, I would have queued on my tank.

I’m a dedicated Templar healer. I first attempt to vote them out. If that fails I switch to my dps bars and stop healing them. If they complain I say to the group that it certainly sucks when someone queues as something they aren’t and not do their job doesn’t it?

"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

I queue as actual tank, so it’s no issue to me
Once I was a healer in CoA, can’t remember if vet and the one of the people had queued as healer/dps . The other two queued as tank/dps.

Well the healer/dps was really a hybrid (low damage) with a restoration staff. The other two were really just dps. So we had in actuality 2 dps, 2 healers. I sighed and continued. Then the other “healer” got attacked and ran away, resetting the boss when he was under 5% health. We asked what was wrong and they complained that we had a fake tank. The other two asked why does it matter we are clearing the dungeon pretty fast. I sighed. On the one hand we were clearing the dungeon fast but on the other hand I understand the principle of expecting not to get attacked and then getting pounded by the boss. They said they refused to heal if there wasn’t a real tank but it was hardly a threat because I was the real healer, they were a hybrid.

In the end the group fell a part and my time was wasted.

Choose one role and do your role. If you want a custom group (3 dps 1 healer no tank or 3dps 1 tank or Whatever) then make it manually outside of group finder.

I typically see how the "Tank" is going to play, if they are not attempting to fill the role then I just leave. I typically run a tank in GF so it is normally not an issue has I am a true tank.

When I run DPS however I see this 60% of the time and have to leave and find another group..I will sometimes ask for the person to taunt and if they do not or say they are not a tank I again just leave. No reason to argue as you will never prove your point to these types of people.

See if they actually taunt, if not chat then kick
Wanted to chime in again --

Most of the time, for non-DLC vet dungeons, I personally prefer 3-4 dps blazing our way through. It's faster, a little more chaotic, and almost always more fun this way. BUT, I do that with my friends, who are aware they're going in for a no-tank (and/or no-healer) run ahead of time. Or if we queue to pick up a fourth, or get a random from zone/guild chat, we extend the courtesy to let them know what they're in for, so they can decide if they wanna stick around. Sometimes we just 3-man or even duo a vet, if it's doable.

"Tanks" who are just dps trying to skip the queue (and have no intention of performing even minimal tanking in the run) aren't an issue because the dungeon is too difficult to complete without a real tank... I'm not sure why people even use that argument. They seem to be missing or avoiding the entire point. The entitlement of the "I deserve a shorter queue than everyone else" mentality is what chuffs most of us about the "fake tanks" more than anything.

If you want to get short wait times for vet (and I assume, normal) dungeons as a dps, simply get in the chat and organize a group. I've never failed to get three randoms together in less than 2 minutes for non-DLC dungeons with a simple "Looking to quickly storm through Direfrost Keep [or whatever it is that day] with four DPS. It's today's non-DLC pledge." Then the four of you can join the queue as whatever roles you like without disrespecting anyone.

If you do it this way, you're likely to make friends; if you do it the other way, you're likely to annoy people.

Im going to suggest something that should be worked into basic dungeon etiquette when Pugging because there are 4 players and their goals/time are equally important.

If you queue into a dungeon under a different role than the one you intend to perform, you need to tell the group. Thats it. Complications can be worked out, but step up and tell the damn group. A friendly hello doesn't seem to be common anymore. You can successfully Veteran Speedrun a Dungeon with no one in the group communicating other than action, but you should still memtion that you intend to perform role ф even though you queued for role 紧 because lack of communication shouldn't be the dungeon run killer. It's childish and ignorant to expect ZoS to have to hold our hands just to form a damn group because we're not capable of working together on our own.

Edit: This is not a stab at OP or anyone who has posted in this thread at all.

I usually do pledges with a friend and either he will tank or I will. We used to queue as tank and healer but learned quickly it was a really bad idea. One crappy dps isn't too bad but when you get 2 that can't fight their way out of a paper bag forget it.

When I fake tank I have been thanked at the end. Generally my dps was highest in the group and the dungeon went well.

I queue as a tank, a proper tank, so I dont have to deal with this crap.

If anything I like to think that makes me more valued, even if the few times I have played DPS I've had players agressively shout at me that a tank wasn't needed and that I was bad for needing one. Ahh, the ESO community at it's finest.
