Why have a Pve event During the PVP event time slot?

We have a whole month to get the style pages, so I don't think it will negatively impact PvP event participation. I totes understand the concern, but as a long-time PvPer this didn't strike me as a big concern.

It’s just principles I guess. We have to wait a year for a non DLC event for pvpers. Just for them to throw n a pve event. It just bothers me that the ONE thing we actually get and look forward too is being watered down. Most Pvers will grind those out for the first week and never set foot in pvp. We only have 1 real campaign on our server and would have loved some population. But they just get to go farm their stuff.

Wtb pvp event during every pve event.

I just don't get Pvper's like you. The whole point of pvping, at least for most I'd assume is for the competition. Why so eager to slaughter a bunch of pve folks who stand little chance against you? How is that even remotely rewarding? Just wow.

And I confess that I don't understand PVEers who come to Cyrodiil and expect PVPers not to engage them in PVP. Its a PVP zone, please come prepared for PVP.

In a little different light, some of us really enjoy the PVEers who come to PVP for Midyear Mayhem. Last year, I got to lead a PUG raid of early morning players on Shor by virtue of being the only person with an idea of where to go and what to do.

Halfway around the emp ring, a few PVEers in my group who'd been wandering around before started to say "Wow, PVP is fun when you have an army!"

Let me tell you, as a player who'd been the most "PVE-only-I'm-never-ever-gonna-PVP" player before I actually started to PVP, that warmed my heart. I was thrilled to show fellow PVE players what I had come to love about PVP. For many of us, this is a chance to share what we love with people who might never otherwise touch PVP.

But there's the flip side as well. PVP is all about the thrill of the competition and the kill. And there's a huge thrill to taking your group of PVPers into a huge mass of enemy players and just slaughtering the opposition. There's something great about wiping large groups of the enemy (even if some were probably in PVE gear), something satisfying about farming squishy players who don't know any better than to keep throwing themselves at you (probably PVEers who can't recognize a trap), and defending/capturing keeps against the hordes. And don't underestimate the thrill of seeing that AP tick go by on your screen, knowing you contributed to that fight with siege, heals, and kills.

So for the experienced PVPer, Midyear Mayhem isn't just about helping out the new players on your team. Its also a chance to dominate the other teams and experienced PVPers will cut through masses of inexperienced players on the other team like a hot knife through butter. Sure, good PVPers make our reputations fighting other experienced PVPers during the rest of the year. but don't underestimate the thrill of, in the words of Conan, what is best in life: "To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women." Bombers, gankers, small scale, tower farmers, guild raids - all of them are ready to turn their PVP-honed skills loose, and its hard not to enjoy at least a little bit seeing just how horribly effective those tactics we've honed on more experienced opponents are on people who simply aren't prepared to counter them.

for experienced PVPers, Midyear Mayhem offers everything that's fun about PVP, turned up to 11. New names, new faces, new competition all mixed up with the same old, same old rivals, with double AP and double the enemies (and double the lag and double the queue). For many PVPers, Midyear Mayhem is everything we wish Cyrodiil was like every day of the year with fighting covering the whole map, new players coming and learning and leaving, amazing ticks, and amazing fights. Some of that is the chance to work with new players on our faction and help them have a positive experience with PVP. Some of that is the chance to kill the new players on the other faction and get some sweet, sweet double AP. Both things are plenty rewarding.

I get that my post implies I'm a pver, but I'm really not. I truly enjoy all facets of the game. I enjoy fishing in Summerset as much as I enjoy scrummaging thru the sewers in IC! I know all too well the joys of pvp, but I pvp for competition and stomping on newbies was never my cup of tea.

But clearly there are tons of players who do and are salivating over the chance to slaughter a bunch of players who are going to be experiencing pvp for the first time, not a great way to convince them to join an already small group. Who knows, I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time!

What will probably be an ignored-mostly-PVEr perspective...

I'm not inexperienced at PVP, inasmuch as I have gotten Empress (the hard, 4 hours' sleep for 4 days, way, not the "keep flippers" easy way), which was brutal enough that I'd never ever do it again, not even just for the achievement/title on my main. I've been in recently just to earn enough AP for the Transmute reward at campaign end, on 3 toons.
I like PVP but I have to be in the mood for it. Due to a sh***y internet connection and my timezone, and multiple disconnections during large scale fights, I tend to have to PVP during EU "offpeak" time. Some days it's great, there's a lot of players on, in my faction. Other days, such as Sunday just been, there's quite a number of us but what appears to be a swarm of enemy players. Yes, it's fun, to a point - which I passed well before I quit on Sunday afternoon, because I wanted to get the bounty quests finished. Apparently we're not good at coordinating...

But none of my 10 toons are kitted out for PVP, not even my former Empress. I see a build, I think, "oh that looks like it would be fun" but then before that toon has whatever's required, be it specific sets, skill points or skils unlocked, I lose interest. I've never learned to PVP properly - in fact, only recently managed to kill a person 1v1, which was quite unexpected. I'm certainly not going to bother with changing up CP or anything like that. Because that's the thing - I'm only a filthy PVP casual, as I've said, and I haven't the time or inclination to do more than that.
So while I will probably participate in the event, if I do, I will be one of those scrubs you kill over and over.

Pvp for life! It is very rewarding.

You can get that monster set later You have only few days in year with double AP. If someone will be standing between those choices logic says he should take part in PvP event and drop motif later or buy it when prices will drop.

I strongly doubt those motifs will have any noticable influence on population of people taking part in PvP event.

You really categorize the Ilambris stuff as "Event"? In a week the things will already be worthless and it's running for an entire month which is way past midyear. I won't even bother going out of my way to run CoH1 unless it's pledge since it will be so easy to acquire the stuff.

I was really hoping for a great double AP event. With the influx of new players who might stick around. But now they will just stay doing the same dungeon over and over. Once again the pvp community kinda gets sidelined.

Because it's not a PvE event? This is going to be on-going for the entire year. The only time-limited is the fact that the monster set rotates on a monthly basis.

By that definition nothing is a PvE event.

It amuses me that PvPers are afraid that the PvE community would find it more enjoyable to play the exact same dungeon over and over again all month long rather than dip their toes into Cyro for a brief event.

AvA is in a sorry state.

Again ANOTHER Pve event During the pvp event time slot. Wth Zos. Quit sidelining PVP players.

You can’t even give us 1 Event.

Personally, I'm a little more annoyed that I'll have less time to get the outfit styles from the PVE event, because I'm planning on PVPing as much as I can for that sweet double AP.

The goal is to split up the population some for the servers sake. The style page stuff was clearly put together quickly (judging from the quality of them) once they realized too much focus on PVP would be a crash fest

But we need the population as high as possible to retain at least a percentage of those players. Patch after patch of bugs and no changes already have the population low.
