Is ESO the MMO with the most rude players?

Maybe it's just me... but I've had some pretty negative times in this game. A lot of it criticizing my bow usage and maybe not dealing extremely high DPS numbers. I've been kicked for some pretty stupid reasons. It's very intimidating to play in group content anymore for me. Shoot, I still haven't done DSA and I've played (console wise) from it's release. (I know it's a game, but man, personality wise for me, I take criticism seriously, it's just very disheartening *shrug*)

I try to be nice though. I've crafted for quite a few people, and try to be fair in price. I've given new players money for horses (before the leveling reward system) and crafted them training sets, given away holiday items for free.

If they are dueling in Cyrodiil they deserve what they get.

I've always thought so. I remember groups of people hanging out in the Arena District in Imp City and they would "duel". Players in my alliance would emote "no" as I'm sniping people. The area is PvP. Free for all. Of course this was before the dueling system was implemented. But seriously there are some less visited places in Cyrodiil, go there.

Here you can get banned for a number of things that Asian mmo’s often don’t care about.

I would say overall Eso is pretty “Towned down/chill” in comparison.

I highly disagree I came back to game after 4-5 month break due to personal problems and first thing I saw was hey mate how you doing we saved all motifs from events for you. And not just that they also send me missing motifs which I typed to them 4-5 months ago... Our community is good, sure there are rude players but I always see a newbie in chat saying can somebody help me pls with X ? And they get fast replies. As for the chest ye thats rude, as for the WB/Special mob - they might not look your way temember that they could also be afk and I see no reason why not help kill WB when u are seeing somebody near it. Also if you would type help me with WB X pls I bet you would get help in few minutes time max, I never had to wait longer than 2-3 minutes.

This is the friendliest game I’ve ever played and I own like 60 games. There are jerks everywhere in life but certainly no more in ESO than other places.

Side note ... I’ve noticed when posts like this come up you’ll get 90+% people saying what I just did and then someone will post 3 to 5 exact instances of people being awful to them. While there is no excuse for it, it does remind me of a meme I recently saw which basically said, “if you encounter one jerk in your day then you just happened to run into a jerk, but if everyone you encounter in a day is a jerk ... the jerk is actually you.”

This right here 100% people running around in game being nice, rude in every shade of color, even lost 2 guild members 3 years ago to people harassment and they took there own lives because of what happened in this game but that's just how all online MMO game go, you deal with trolls and every type of person you can imagine

For the jumping in while soloing a world Boss....

Its a world boss out in the open you don't own solo rights to that...but

i was soloing a world boss the other day, Summerset Sload. Now this guy is not a fast solo, i'm built to survive and outlast..so there i am and you know im doing fine and i notice that there are a few people watching......like they didnt want to interrupt.....and im thinking man i wish they would join in and speed this up!! Luckily i whittled him down to 75% when a group showed up and joined in.....man that went so much quicker!

Another instance was the big summerset crab, same thing, though that one isn't as annoying with the shields and stuff, but it has a few breaks in the action, so i was able to actually invite the spectator to a team..he joined in and we duo'd the boss

So if you ever see me soloing a world boss...please join me!

LOL most rude players pls, you have not played many mmos. Ever play an mmo with kill stealing and not shared loot with bosses with timed spawns? Waiting all week for a boss to spawn then having some high lvl port in at the same time and one shot it for loot.

Eso imo has an amazing player base with just a few bad apples.

if you are not up to par, learn from it. If people are being crude for no reason block them, report them. If they start harassing you, report it every time. Not all groups are bad, and not everyone is an a-hole. Group content needs the full group, if people are not up to par it can domino effect to everyone loosing.

You can't always know whether someone really needs help or not; maybe they are practising and want to see if they can solo whatever it is you see them fighting. I can recall a few times when I was testing a build against a world boss, and possibly looking like I needed help because I'm not the greatest player, and someone decided to steam in and "save" me.

or... they saw you were doing well enough and needed that boss kill themselves so they joined it to get the loot and achievement?

<-- have been known to do that.

as far as rudeness... no idea about EU, but in my experience, ESO players are no more rude than most other MMO's I have played. people are people everywhere.

It's funny, because I've had the opposite experience you have for #1-- that used to happen to me constantly in SWTOR. I've only had node races a couple of times here. Even in that case, I've never had anyone node swipe as I was killing mobs in this game. Then again, I'm on PC-NA here, and I started on the worst of the NA SWTOR servers (Harbinger). I've never noticed #2 or #3-- but they both could have happened to me.

That said, the worst community I've ever experienced was in Path of Exile. The jerks in chat there make even the SWTOR trolls look like Playskool.

I almost never group so I've never dealt with the dungeon or trials crowd. I can't say anything about what they're like unless they're griping about n00bs in zone chat. Competitive types and I don't get along well, so I avoid them at all costs.

Ah, I may have made a bit of a faux-pas there then, I've sometimes tended to dash about closing them on the basis that "it needs doing". I didn't realise there was some etiquette involved. So I offer my apologies to anyone who witnessed my impoliteness and will be more considerate in future!

No its not rude to hit the pins, by all means they gotta get hit..though there used to be rumors that not hitting pins until end could help summon one of the Bosses to show up....I think that rumor finally died.

i was just saying I have seen folks that just let others get them, i know once i got the achievement i stopped hitting pins unless i was solo, or the other folks are ignoring them.

Yesterday I inadvertently farmed a plant which a player was probably going to take - but because he was behind a tree I only spotted him at the last minute.

After that he followed me around and took every opportunity to farm a plant etc before me also trying to harass me !

In the end I just walked around doing nothing specific, ignoring him and they got fed up and went on their way!

If I did that for the many times gamers deliberately farmed or opened chests as the OP pointed out the game would not be good to play.

Yes it is annoying - but you have to learn to ignore rude players and just carry on playing they way you want to .

Also some players don't actually mean to be rude and may have not spotted you like I did yesterday !

Incorrect. Far from the worst Ruffians thou shalt witness, but do not be fooled. Nobody can guarantee thee anything. You will find Evil fiends in any game , be that Elder Scrolls Online, World of Wacraft even which has very strict rules when it comes to severe abuse and Real life Threats. You are under false impression and based on the recollection of your personal history you were nothing more but lucky to cross the path with less rude and reasonable players.

Far from it, I have been playing Elder Scrolls Online for long to judge and present my opinion on regards community both in game and forums,A shadow only. The points you've stated are nothing basically

    1. I would not get upset, it is a bit lame, but he/she used the chance and took the loot. Do it again.

2.Yes he/she is not required to help thee. There are no rules of helping other players, Quite contrary you should enjoy the challenge.

    3. Wow, And you find that point annoying? Honestly I believe you are overly sensitive for MMO genre. If these aspects drive you nuts, how would you deal with constant abuse, death /hack /Real Life threats, flaming, bashing, severe performance issues, constant crashing and so on. The road goes on. I've been though everything you can possibly visualise.

it does not matter , once more. Be that EU or US. Wow has far worse community which is odd because their Gamemasters are quick and furious on hammer time. You have to be truly insane to threaten someone within imaginary magical world of Azeroth.

No ultimately, I can speak honestly once again, ESO is quite relaxing, what strikes me your history, Thou art ancient player. You should know well the nature of humanity and rudeness as I spoke, ESO cannot be the sole exception.

if i see CP300+ player fighting worldboss, i won't help him due to probability that he want to solo this boss. I maybe cast Mutagen to give him major courage and maybe throw one shard. If player is lower CP, then i certainly help.
