The templar metta is to be a healplar in pve and even then its questionable if they are best.

In battlegrounds or non CP campaigns just wear cancer sets like sloads.

In CP cyrodil just enjoy some time off

The player makes the templar at this point. Or all depends on hope you define success.

Try those sets with any other character and you will perform better. No house needed for that :d

I play 5 different classes and do dueling/BGs/cyrodiil on all of them and main magplar. Buffs would always be nice (burst isn't great, so it's difficult to 1v1 shield stackers) but it's a strong well-rounded class that plays well in a variety of environments.

Please stop all this depressing doom-and-gloom nonsense.

So compared to other classes/specs where would you rate magplar?

    For me it goes

    Very Strong
    Stamden, stamblade

    Strong
    Magsorc, magblade, magdk

    Mediocre
    Stamplar, stamsorc

    Less than
    Magplar, stamdk

    Pityful
    Magden

1v1? They're on the low end, not everybody gets to be top dog. But the game is balanced pretty well between the classes to the point where skill and game knowledge is almost always the deciding factor. All of the "Game so unbalanced, magplar is unplayable" QQ is super exaggerated.

Its not that they are unplayable its just like the OP said if you take the same sets and use them on other classes you will perform better.

Yeah to a degree , for example an mag sorc or mag nb shouldn’t lose to a magden. And a stam nb shouldn’t lose to a stam Warden.

Yeah i gotcha. For me it seems like the armor sets are doing most the killing in pvp. As far as pve goes im far from L33T but i dont consider myself a chump either. I can definetly hold my own as a dd on my magplar but certain hardmodes with certain groups tests my limits on magplar and makes me switch to my magblade. The difference at times is very noticeable.

My magplar is a little bit over 30k dps on test dummy where my magblade is around 43k dps

A good approach for magplar now is to play support and heals while grouped with another damage dealer. You can do some dps but you also can help keep sloads off you and your friend, throw around some purifying lights, and annoy people with total dark and vamp drain, on top of heals. Also while wearing Durok's and Troll King. That's how I've been playing my magplar in small groups recently and it works.

Templar has no meta now. Basically Templar in pretty crap compared to any other class. Stamina or Magic. House is not working at all and plenty of bugged or underperforming skills.

The house works just fine if you build it correctly...

How would you build your house in endgame pvp, wvw or in pve?

My house is built with 3 Defensive Sets to make myself very difficult to kill (stacking HoT's [one of which applies a ground based AoE snare], Damage Shields, Major Evasion, and High Resists all rolled up into one)...

And once an opponent is in my house, I will attempt to win the "Resource Battle" against him until I think he's vulnerable to be burst down by a combo of:

    1) Purifying Light...
    2) Invigorating Drain/Cancel...
    3) Soul Assault...
Keyword is "attempt, not sure who is easier to kill magplar or magden, both turn in quests rack up faster than any other.

i want to believe this - but i just don't see how it could possibly be better. Not only do you have the advantages of reduced dmg while in mist form, the same expedition speed achieved in mist for as in race ability, but finally - you are able to break roots/snares with mist form and race does not offer that.

please enlighten me on how this could possibly be better?

ok..firstly you are much, much faster with race against time ( try it and tell me I'm wrong)
it has saved my ass more times than mist form ever has (mist just delays the inevitable most the time). I use race - clense and I'm gone running like the wind to my line of site while still recovering magika, and allowing me to heal or use other skills which you cannot do with mist. it also allows for much greater mobility around the battle field wether that be open world or BG as it also reduced cost of sprint by 50%. I always used to use mist form but would not got back now. race against time has been a great addition to my magplar that it desperately needed.

I prefer channeled acceleration for the aggressive boost. With line of sight it's very easy to cast, and 9 seconds of fast sweeps is crazy fun

first statement is actually wrong. both skills provide major expedition, which actually makes one not faster than the other. maybe you refer to the sprinting, which is affected by snares (mistform is not) and by cc's (mistform is not). so you either give up stamina or magicka (also regen) to reposition. mist form has additional benefits like a huge damage reduction and also magicka recovery only partly is disabled (especially with channeled focus and sets like desert rose mist form sustaining is no problem at all). if you sprin with race against time you are locked out of skills the same as mist form. in conclusion i wouldnt just state, that one is far superior than the other.

I agree with some of the above , like I say I used to use mist for all the reasons you gave , but I wouldn't go back now after using race against time, imo it's just better for 'my playstyle' which when all said and done I suppose is most important.

You can't cast any other abilities while in mist form. That's the big one.

Also you can't sprint. So yeah it is slower.

Most of all it's a feasible alternative for those of us who don't want to succumb to the vampire magplar meta.

I'm being a filthy templar and running Sloads + Skoria + Lich. #NoShame

Although I did enjoy Shacklebreaker + willpower + master's destro/vma resto with rapid reg for the extra rec. And then Skoria / Pirate Skelly, depending on my aim with the build.

Although I enjoy running destro/resto on it. Resto ult is invincibility for the uptime and lets you go offensive. And then just give the middle finger to templar abilities(They suck) and run Shock Clench + Walls.
Then add Blazing Spear + Reflective Light as more dots.
(Your Shock Clench is your spammable) - it has a weakness against reflect, but you should have enough ground DoTs to keep some pressure up anyway. If you place your DoTs while you play defensive and use Shock Clench to relieve some pressure from yourself, you have a chance at proc'ing skoria and catching someone off-guard.

Ultimate for offence? Big joke. Templar doesn't have one :') Although Meteor is decent. Or the Synergy-morph of Nova if enemies are stacked and you have a friend. Instant 10k dmg, pew pew pew.
