Dearest ESO,

Let me start off by saying thank you, you are trying really hard and are doing your best in the midst of chaos. The game is fun, borderline addicting. However, there are some things you should address.
We did not get what we payed for. Your marketing team advertised 3-5 days Early Access. Deliver on your words, don't break them. That is lesson one. Lesson two, when you cannot deliver on your word, fix it, encourage people to stay by first apologizing and then compensate them. ESO is a beautiful concept, a wonderful game, but there are also some bugs that have taken far too long to address. Instead of taking long maintenances, take shorter maintenance to fix the problems you can while working on the solutions for others. Lesson three, no one likes long server down time. Your customer service I've noticed can be really good or really poor depending on who you get and what you need help with, all your customer service should know about the field they are in and you have some on your team who are.. confused and don't know what to do. Understandably, early release is the hardest part of any MMO and it is a chaotic experience. (Lesson four would be to revisit some of your team and make sure they know how to handle real situations but I'm not too dissatisfied after all) I do hope you will continue to improve this game and work hard to become a number one MMO. It is a nice game and I will support it as long as you hold your end of the bargain and deliver. But do keep up the good work, I love the game. Oh, and DO fix Matron's Clutch, it seems to be the last thing on my beautiful map that is incomplete..
Much love, carry on. ~Ixi

You didn't pay for early access. How many threads need creating and how many replies need submitting before people realise this. It was a free gift. Much like the air you get when you walk into a supermarket. They don't charge for that do they? Nor do they promise it'll be the best quality 24 hours a day.

I want what was marketed. If they couldn't deliver than they shouldn't have marketed that tidbit. :P

We did in fact get 3-5 days of early access. The problem you have is that the maintenance periods during those days robbed you of game time. However, in any newly released game you are going to have more than a few unscheduled maintenance times, and the developers never promised these downtimes wouldn't occur.

Then again, I was told ESO developers and their marketing team have been butting heads since day one.

This. Every MMO has downtime, and you can honestly expect nothing less from a new MMO at launch.

You did get it though. At some point during those 5 days the servers were ONLINE. Might not have been for the entire day but they were online. You should also check the ToS. It says they can take the servers offline whenever they want for maintenance.

Again, you didn't pay for early access. Early access was a bonus. You paid for the game.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. You get free early access, they need to do maintenance to make sure the game works properly, but you whine they broke their "promise" - so then what is your expectation, that the game be perfect and no maintenance required? Or would you rather they just left it to crash on launch day? I got my 3 days, and the server will be up soon enough, so get over it.

It's Good that they are taking the time to fix the problems. If you recall World of Warcraft in its Prime started with a ton of down time, now blizzard althought did rectify this by giving us more game time and thats what they have done here .... if you bought the Big Box on amazon or a site like that you will have untell Sunday to enter your activation code (witch helps me out becuse My game isn't going to be here [supose to be tomarrow but amazon is having problems] untell Monday) witch will leaves me with about 14+ hours with out the game

Early access was included with your preorder of the game, it wasn't handed out freely... You had to make a purchase(Or in some cases just a pledge), to obtain it. Hence: It was purchased.

They have extended the early access, say what you want about Zenithesda but that's awesome.

Most games have this to provide people ample times to get their physical copies before interrupting their services.... It's not to "payback" people.

This is why all of the whining is so irritating. Yeah, I'd like to be playing right now. Who wouldn't? But they're not taking the game offline just to screw with us. They're doing it to FIX THINGS. And if they didn't fix them, then people would complain about how something was broken. If I was Zenimax I'd close these forums during maintenance so people could do things other than indulge in their pointless nerd rage over a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" problem.

Repeating that over and over won't make it true.

Sometimes you have to take your car in for maintenance. Do you think the car manufacturer screwed you?

Cable goes out, internet goes down, this is all part of life. Relax! =D

You do realise buying from another site that you didn't get the early access with was in-fact cheaper? The reason I bought it from the official store was for the early access.

They technically didn't have to give anyone anything, basically everyone was given the 4 out of 5 days back.

Again say what you want that is a help for anyone 4 days is 4 days, it quite easily could have been no days.

Which store was this, and how much cheaper was it? Cheapest I saw was GMG and it did come with EA.

Can't take posts like these seriously which i'm sure ESO does the same. No matter what they do, if a change is made there will always be someone to complain about it. Every MMO i've played had this problem and the ones in future will also.

Guess the only thing you can do as a gaming company is to ignore the minority's complaints and try to cater to the majority.

Yeah. Whenever my cable internet goes down (which is far more often than it ought to) Comcast sure as hell doesn't apologize or take anything off of my bill when I call to report an outage. Zenimax, on the other hand, gave us extended time that they did not have to do. So why is the complaining still going on?

Technically they gave you this grace period before any of the outcry about downtime started... So it has nothing to do with "getting days back"
