A) You didn't pay for early access. You didn't pay any extra for your early time into the game, you pay the same amount as other people will when they purchase the game withno early access - therefore you did not pay for any "early access."

B.) You were never guaranteed an amount of early access per se....you paid for the game and were granted early access starting at a certain date. Nowhere were you guaranteed "3 uninterrupted days of play time" (or 5) but instead: "We will grant you access 3-5 days early" - every single game with an online element allows for changes and updates during that time.....there is no denying this - its in the EULA that you agreed to.

B) As someone who has been playing MMOs since 1999, I can guarantee you this launch has been the smoothest, lowest downtime, least amount of bugs I've ever seen in an MMO launch. If you disagree with this, you haven't been present at very many MMO launches (like, none) or you just need to calm down for 4 hours and get some perspective on life and then everything will be fine when the servers open up again.

C) What would you have them do? Did you imagine a perfect game without bugs? So they have 2 options: take down the servers to patch them, or leave them up with bugs. If there were bugs, you would complain about the bugs, if there was fixing happening, you complain about that.

D) Every game like this has to have some mandatory downtime before the game goes live the next day to link up the online store (where you purchase account time etc.) with the game servers - this is ignorance on your part and not incompetence on theirs.

E) Just calm down, the game will be live again in a little while and life will be good again.

I know some will disagree with what I've said here - but I want to say that after playing MMOs for 15 years, this is the most I've ever enjoyed one, this is the place that I will be hanging my hat for decades to come and I hope you will to. The devs are hard at work doing what they do best, and trust me, they want this game to succeed as much as I and you do, they aren't doing anything that would intentionally or unintentionally make themselves "look bad."

Thank-you ESO devs, and my wife and I will send you flowers soon.

    Dear Lenny,

enjoy the game with your wife and have much fun in Tamriel. Unfortunately, many people cannot join you because they have to work during the day when the server is running and they cannot play at primetime when the server is offline. Do you understand that?

Agreed, anyone who is whining about the downtime during a free early access needs to get real. It's a brand new MMO, and clearly none of them have played anything else. This is one of the most polished and impressive launches I have seen in terms of server stability, bugs and so forth. Even Warcraft was down for days at launch and in almost each expansion that followed. Star Wars was virtually unplayable at launch and filled with bugs, many of which are still around today. So seriously, people need to chill out and get a life,

I understand that it's happening today, yes. Seems to be pretty irrational to me that you would write off a game like this because of 1 primetime being lost.

And I wouldn't call myself a fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, I was pretty pissed off about this game for a long time, but after having played it, I've found it to be quite nice.

Also, I've noticed that no one has addressed any of the points that I've made, just goes to show that people will be mad and cry first, and then decent human beings second.

Agreed with this. It seems like there's a lot of people on this forum who have never played an MMO before, or else they wouldn't be complaining about the downtime...

I have been happy with my experience so far. Compared to some other MMOs that I have played, this has really out done my expectations. Yes, it is unfortunate that some free time that I had placed aside to play the game is pointless now, but it was to be expected with the game going live in just a few hours.

You saw 1-2 people claiming that they will "quit the game" (ofc they won't) because ZOS decided to close the servers on eu prime time and suddenly a bunch of these threads come up, complaining about complainers, with no real point and with arguments that make my 5yo niece's ramblings look like rhetorical speeches.

Seriously... reading these posts, thinking that some of you are fellow consumers in the same society I live in, gives me goosebumps and explains much.

So in his first A) we didn't pay for early access. And then in his second A) he says we did pay for early access.

I don't even know what I paid for anymore!

On a side note I'll agree with his B) note: Was there for launch of Everquest / World of Warcraft / SWTOR / GW2..and so far this has been he best one I've experienced also.

I seem to have misplaced my intelligence. Therefore, I will continue to troll the forums for 3-4 hours until I can login once more and wander around looting every barrel, crate, and sack in sight.

I'm not fussed about the down time. I get it. I understand. I'm not cross about it.

I do see where people are coming from and people who say "it's free" QQ are a marketing departments dream.

Free? The prices including this "free" early access, especially directly off the site, were high.

Yet now you can go to online games retailers and buy it for half the price with no early access...so is it really "free"? It maybe labelled as so, but I think it's naive and bordering on trollish to not understand why people are cross and feel ripped off. I imagine if people who paid full price knew they may not have full early access, they'd have waited and paid less.

It's like the good old supermarkets in the UK when they do buy 1 get 2 free with a fluff reward voucher. You pay the full RRP of £5 but you've got 2 free right? Yet the next supermarket down the road has them on special offer for £1 each, no fluffy school vouchers etc.

People who paid full RRP as a pre order will have paid a premium for getting early access. I wouldn't say it was free at all.
