I checked it out today, and what struck me is that the furnished version looks sparse and unused, even with all the Alinor furniture inside. I can't see how anybody can make it look homely with the current 700 item limit. It's probably twice the total square footage of the Princely Dawnlight Palace.... and I've yet to see one decorated that didn't look incomplete in some way.

This might make a nice temple for someone yes.

It is just too big for this one though. Too big and too tall and it will always feel too empty.

Khajiit already has a temple and has no plans to open any more of them.

More medium sized properties please yes - but all sized properties should have considerable outdoor space. It is the most important thing when this one considers how useful a building it may be to Khajiit. This is the main reason the Alinor house it does not appeal.

So this is basically just a smaller version of Alinor Palace, but with more rooms and an indoor pool. I need it, but fear the price. I'm guessing furnished this will cost $150 And will probably only be available for a limited amount of time. I'm guessing 8 days

I hate to be like this since I was SUPER hyped about getting a house in Artaeum but, I'm a little bummed to admit I'm not feeling it. It's really everything I didn't want it to be.

First off, It's HUGE which consequently means a couple things:
    • It's going to have another obscenely exorbitant price tag.
    • Due ESO's item limits, it's going to be a pain to furnish and not have it feel incomplete

Secondly, I'm just not really feeling the layout & style. I was REALLY hoping for that signature Psijic Order style. Not only from a thematic sense to the Psijic and it being on Artaeum but also just giving us a variety of different styles of homes. We already have a house in the Altmer Stone Brick style. Hell I honestly kinda believe the Alinor Townhouse in the same style is actually somewhat better (Townhouse: cheaper, 6 rooms and a foyer/Villa 5 rooms and the foyer). It's kinda like seeing the unique style of The Clockwork City, and then getting the house to find it's a regular Dunmer stone styled home. Nothing wrong with the style, but just wish it was more "Psijic" like the setting may suggest.

So while that was a little disappointing, the actual layout was really what stuck to me. Of course it's purely opinion, but I vastly prefer the Alinor Townhouse style, with lots of individual rooms, and more compact, neat, organized hallways as opposed to the HUGE open floor plan, church style this went for.

Plus big wide open floor plans with little hallway structure make working against an already low item limit even harder to make it feel properly decorated without large gaps or unloved areas. I will say though, the outdoor areas are GORGEOUS! The waterfalls, the little pools and decks overlooking the sea are really really awesome. My favorite parts of the place for sure!

All in all if they also had another medium sized home, like a true Psijic styled tower or something I wouldn't mind but what bums me out is knowing this will probably be the only Artaeum house we'll ever see.

It's def a pretty property though, and I've been so eager to get a house on Artaeum but idk I may pass. I was already coming to grips and accepting the fact I was gonna pay a lot for a home on Artaeum but I'm kinda having a hard time paying alot of money for a house I just am not really feeling just to say "I live on Artaeum!". Def a pretty cool one for those who do like it though! Will be interesting as always to see what others do with it!

Since the PTS updated Monday, I have been working on decorating this monster.
In many respects, Vehlir is correct. the layout does not make it easy. The only thing that has made it somewhat easier is my theme. I want this to be the ancestral home of my altmer Warden, reclaimed with Artaeum's reappearance. Wardens, of course, as masters of shaping nature to their will.
So I am working out ways of incorporating a lot of trees and greenery into the *interior* and leaving the exterior as the gorgeous statue garden it was so clearly meant to be. A few benches, some low tables with books and lanterns, but mainly leaving the exterior au nature.

The inside has been an interesting struggle. The suites are nicely laid out, and I am having fun just decorating them normally. Lots of clutter, wardrobes, comfy beds and fireplaces, etc etc.
The larger main hall, upstairs and down, are mainly an undaunted gallery. Ive spaced the trophies out and given each a bit of attention (trophies matched with busts, etc) The downstairs is the trial trophy display, on live I only have a very few, but on the PTS ive been able to place everything to see how it looks, and its all quite nice.
I set trees to growing around the pillars separating the side galleries from the center chamber, using those glowing mushrooms they added as a lovely source of illumination and some extra druidy flavor.
At the moment, I have the alinor royal fountain as a centerpiece to the large chamber, but I would prefer something more rustic, just havent thought of anything yet.
Plenty of ivy, moss, vines and flowers on the walls, and some potted cypress as well.

I have a fair amount of work left to make it look tighter aesthetically (its still a bit all over the place) but the general ambiance is great, and makes the hall feel a lot more liveable.

Anyway, just my own angle of attack on a place like this. The exterior alone is what will sell me on this house when its released, but I absolutely agree that the item limit is very frustrating in a house like the Villa. I did play around with using the tall alinor walls to create side chambers and segment it off somewhat, but I was not totally thrilled with my results. I may pursue it again with a bit more patience though.
I am happy, but definitely wishing for higher item limits. Would make decorating a palace like that a real joy, start to finish, instead of checking my item count every half hour or so.

Would love to see it, or watch a video tour of it!
Also, might I suggest the possiblity of using that glowing forest achievement furnishing from doing the Illumination Academy quest in Summerset? I think that would look cool and be fitting for your druid context.

I...haven't done Summerset content yet. Still on cadwells gold, even though I started playing years ago lol.

If I get it looking like I want it to, I might post screens. My goal is to get all the structural ambiance and large furnitures sorted and still have at least 300 empty slots for flavor and new achievement furnishings as I unlock them.
Took me a year to fill my Tel Galen, so my pts decorating is just to create a theme and define the overall aesthetic of the place.

If this house were half the square footage inside, while keeping the exterior areas the same size, it would be perfect.

It's not too late to remove 2/3 of the giant main room before releasing it on live! I'm sure you would sell more in that configuration. As it is now, it's a pass for me.

@Earrindo - I also have an Altmer Warden and my main is an Altmer sorc, so I was thinking of going with a druidy-Psijic magey sort of space with this (IF I get it, and I probably won't, sadly). I was thinking of a large flowery tree in the center of that great hall and then...working from there, I don't know, but it's pretty cool that someone else had the same sort of theme idea. Would love for you to post screens of your PTS work there.

@JJBoomer -- I watched that video in awe last night and was bouncing in my seat that making this place livable with a 700 item count could be possible. Then...I read the comments. They used 2000+ slots, decorating, filming, then disassembling each section. Incredible job and sad that it can't be done all at one go.

    @Wintergreen

I like your idea of putting a nice big tree in the great hall. And that back room, the one with the pool, would make a great mage's workshop type room. Yeah I found out how they did it too, was a little sad. But I was like in awe at seeing what could be done if we had more slots.

I guess people are saying to just ignore the outside and only furnish the inside.

IDK if I'm going to get this. Seeing as the Grotto was the limited house, and we do have a handful of permanent Notable homes, it's possible the Psijic Villa might be our next permanent Notable. If thats the case, I will save and get it later. But if it is limited, I'll have to sadly pass. As the house plus more furnishings to actually fill it would probably run me $150+ and I can't justify that at all.

So if it turns out this manor will be limited, I'll more than likely get the new furnishing packs that were datamined, and just redo my townhouse and make it more Regal.

But if this Villa does (hopefully) end up being a permanent addition to the Notable collection we have, then I will save up and get it eventually. This house fits so nicely with the story I've made up for my character. But we'll see I guess.

I'm disappointed we aren't getting a house like the Psijics base on Artaeum. That place is gorgeous. All the blue energy flowing up the walls and on the floors, the fountains, the travel pools. I want THAT not another dime a dozen stone house.

That's an interesting philosophy.... but the exact opposite of what I would do.

The potential garden areas and pools are the attraction for me. The falls are a bit overdone, and unrealistically quiet for water flows of that volume.... but believability could be suspended. I would probably do what some have done with the Princely Dawnlight Palace, and actually wall off some of the excess interior content to make it more comfortable. In fact, I recall one guy who actually walled off the entrances to it, and just used 700 items on the garden (which half of the courtyard was walled off with hedges as well) and it looked full and fabulous. But an expensive proposition to pay so much for something you would only actually use a fraction of.

I personally would do some stuff outside. A few sitting areas and some topiaries. But otherwise, the outside as it is, is good enough for me. But yeah, focus would be on the inside.

Lighting though. That's going to be an issue. I like my home bright, not dark and depressing.

I love how huge it is inside, I'm excited for that. That gives me enough space to really play around with building large indoor structures, reconfiguring subspaces, playing with lighting special effects and other stuff I've been wanting to try without outdoor lighting interference. I'm stoked.
