Display character names instead of @Handles? (Specifically in guild chat)

Is it possible to create an add-on that would display your currently logged in character name instead of your global @ handle? Especially in guild chat. As a roleplayer, knowing people as their characters that are actually in the RP guild instead of their OOC username is really important.
It's a silly little thing but it would improve my (and most RPers I think) enjoyment of the game so much.
