are monthly rewards the reason why crown prices skyrocket?

crown store just updated with 2 new limited time offer, 4 day only, queens eye leather costume 2k crowns

raz fanservice cub pet for 1.2k crowns lol

ZOS do you think because you give us monthly reward for free now you can just jack up price of everything in crown store?

we dont want 2k costumes and 1.2k + pets becoming the norm yet still you push the envelope further

If people pay the price, it will keep going up. I don't think it has much to do with the monthly reward system at all.

If foolish people keep buying it they are going to squeeze every last drop of blood that they can get away with.
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

As stated above the customers are partly to blame. Yeah they push the envelope at every chance they get to see what they could get away with but we as customers need to quit purchasing things that are overpriced. If everyone stopped purchasing crowns, prices would drop so fast it would make your head spin. But people dont get it. All they care about is shiny stuff.

Damn, Queen Ayrenn must have taken brand lessons from McDs. Pass on this.

Fan service. Love it, but yeah, you definitely know those who want it will throw any amount at the screen.

They're not jacking up the price.

Buyers are. If not a single person buys this, economics says price comes down.

But don't get your hopes up. People are really stupid with their wallet.

Basically, ZOS realized that most people only buy (non eso+) Crowns during the sales.

So since customers were getting discounted crowns, prices in the Crown Store had to rise to keep pace.

I know several ppl in my guilds (ppl who spend alot on crown with multiple houses etc) who saw the price on the new boat house and said....."it looks awesome but with no good crown sales etc, I am just not gonna buy it".

I think they are finding the price cap.

this game is mostly online shop for digital items now, that is why i just quite playing (months ago) , developers spend more time in crown store then fixing/improving their game , items in crow store cost more and more , limited time only offers , almost mandatory ESO plus if u want to play a game (crafting bag, storage space) and still u need to pay for chapters for full content and on top of that crow crates

and i am sure there will be more in future , but where is fun form playing a game in all of this

And then there are the people who talk about crowns they paid for through sub as "free" crowns. Stuff in crown store just become crown sinks.

One thing for sure. If they are still raising prices, people who tried to claim that they are losing money with their high prices were probably completely wrong.

Eh, "special" or "character" items have always cost more. See: Naryu's outfit & personality in Morrowind, the "hero" costumes earlier, etc.

So yeah. Raz outfit and Raz pet? Of course they were going to get premium prices. This isn't anything new, or a sign of increasing prices.

The regular costumes that just came out recently? They're the same old prices. 500/700. No increase.

So yeah. Just the usual "OMG Crown Store! Riot!" false panic.

What about the auroran knight and coral mudcrab pet then?

2k costume and 1.2k pet, just last month

But oh hey - they released the same freaking nord jerking for the 5th time for 700 crowns so everything is normal in your world lol

Limited items are always at a premium price. But if you don't need them right away, they will likely turn up in one of the next rounds of crown crates. So just save your gems from all the free trash they hand out and grab it later.

Zenimax knows how to milk the cash out of their whales.

Thought its kinda funny watching the game slowly become into a ''digital collection'' mini game. As people spend crazy amounts on virtual things, or gamble it on crown crates. Back in the day I thought people were really dumb for wasting money on CS:GO skins, but those people could at least sell their skins back into real money, or buy other games from steam.

Which is not the case for any of the crown store items. Or is it now? With the addition of gifting and stuff. Either way, I just feel like all the money that is spend on pixels could be spend in much better ways. Like buying a gift to a loved one, or eating a really nice dinner for once.
Or just.. buying other games that you might enjoy playing.

In a nutshell, I just can not understand why people are doing this. In the end, if you're happy with your decisions, who am I to judge you? (But I'll still label you as a typical mmo whale though)

Raz has his own licensing fee. Stop blaming the producers. Sometimes the stars are the ones driving up prices.

These have always been the prices for costumes/pets going all the way back to the hero costumes.
