This forum is a cesspool of trolls. BEWARE! The game itself can be quite fun. I played throughout beta and for the last year or so after launch until an injured shoulder caused me to give it up. I came back a few months ago and have been very pleasantly surprised at the game's development.

Yeah not that bad as long as you don't mind restarting the game every few minutes.
But of course there are those that have a magic version of the game and have never had any problems standing around.

It just seems the game is the same lackluster broken mess I left four years ago. I read reviews that it has gotten better. The issue is what I read in the forums are not promising. Between bad connection, lag, invisible walls and still has rampant bots has me deeply concerned.

Don't pay too much attention to us. While all the things do exist to some degree, it really depends on the platform, the mega-server, the time of day you play, where you are in game and how you play.

I can honestly say that, as someone who has played on the PS4 for 4 years now (or thereabouts), I have actually experienced a bare-minimum of issues.

Sure, once in while there will be a server issue, but disconnects are all but non-existent for me.
FPS lags and freezing? Not really a problem for me, although they do get worse when something new is released.
Invisible walls, I have no idea about, never experienced them, and, apparently they're more prevalent in PvP areas and high-level end game content, but I'm sure they'll get them resolved.
As for bots - I can honestly say, in all this time, I've actually only seen 2 incidences. One was long ago in Glenumbria and recently there was one on Auridon. They're pretty easy to avoid and don't really interfere with your game unless you're an obsessive farmer.

I can say, however, that, if you're a PvPer and love Cyrodil, the IC and some of the other high-traffic PvP areas, there are issues that have not yet been resolved, particularly in high-population times. I don't ever go to PvP areas during busy times so I don't usually have the same problems, but, I would heed the advice of those that do.

It sounds like you've been away a long time though so I'm assuming you'll be coming in on a fresh character (or 2 or 8) so you shouldn't have too many issues outside of a little bit of FPS lag (depending on your platform of course).

Give it a shot. You have the game already and you don't have to pay anything to play for a bit. Then make your decision.

We love to get fresh blood coming in . A lot has changed though and the classes really don't function the same way as they used to. Just enjoy. That's all that matters.

I played in the original alpha and beta tests. After the final beta I decided not to continue and started playing the game again with the free week this past spring. I think the game has improved from what it was back then but still don't like the long loading screens and somewhat frequent rubber banding in cities. I haven't had too many disconnects that intrude into my game enjoyment and overall I have a decent frame rate. My biggest complaint is the lack of response from ZOS as to fixing and resolving problems but as it hasn't improved in all of these years I don't expect to ever. It isn't all that much different than much of the game industry. So from where I'm currently sitting I think it is a good game for B2P but am still on the fence about a monthly subscription. I've decided I will make that decision once I run out of new to me content and when what I have access to starts feeling like a grind. So my take is B2P is inexpensive enough to give the game a try and see if it is improved enough for you to continue to play.

    1. It's just a game that allows you to manipulate a bunch of 1's and 0's on some remote data server, if it doesn't go the way you'd like it's ok, the forums are here to express such issues.

or 2. Just go to the local trailer park, listen to the children crying because they didn't get their favorite toy in the happy meal they just got, then you will be able to understand how the forums work. Problem solved.
If you are angry about anything in this game you are only punishing yourself.

The bot trains are nothing like they were that first summer. There are a few, but in out of the way spots, not in delves or interrupting quest goals. The game has come a long way since beta IMO, much of it a mixed bag. Crafting has improved, housing is fun to decorate, but then not much to do with it unless you roleplay. Quite a few new zones/expansions to give you more stories/content. I really liked the Wrothgar expansion and the Morrowind and Clockwork City expansions, at least for me, were a nice reminiscence of the original Morrowind. You'll find some of the classes play quite a bit differently than they did that first year. You can group with people of different levels now with no issues, and can take zones in any order you like or not even do them.

Give it a try, but make sure you try out the different aspects of the game (questing, dungeons, trials, pvp, battlegrounds, crafting, outfitting your character, housing, etc.). If you do decide to stay, ESO+ membership is worth it just for the inventory management alone.

Try it and see for yourself. I still love eso even with all its problems.

It’s true that ESO has lots of issues and the bug list is pretty overwhelming by now im sure.
But i guess its part of the eso experience :D

Ps. I honestly dont think i have ever seen a bot in my 3 years on the game.

I’ve left several times, and I after months each time, I talk myself into playing again and how great and fun it’s going to be.

Then I quit after 2 months because many of the same things that were broken at LAUNCH are still... broken. Still. Broken.

    Still...

    Broken.

I might be mistaken but I thought occasional mass "freezing" people experience in PVP are Psijic skills (don't know yet for certain, didn't get them myself).

Why didn’t I think of this...

When the psijic skills are utilized by NB’s, and Sorcs, they bestow additional properties, because balance.

Lol, very true. If I had 500 million dollars. I would make this the most epic games of all time. I would make the pvp feel like an actual war. Have many npcs fight along side real players. I would change the story just slightly to fit it more into an mmo. Instead of being basically the chosen one, the story would be about 12 soul shriven nobodys escaping the prison going out into the world trying to defeat Molag Bal and the events thereafter. Most of the npcs will acknowledge you as one of the 12 and treat you as a nobody at first but you gain notoriety as you complete quests and whatnot

@geekboy09 Don't pay too much attention to the forums. People generally only come on here to make grievances. It's rare that a thread is a compliment or praise for ZOS.

The game is MILES better than it was 4 years ago. Don't just take my word for it - play it and see for yourself.

Didn't play 4 years ago, but the game in its current state is poor. There are an overwhelming number of bugs. PvP is especially bad. Lots of fan bois who think they will get free crates if they lie for Z0$.

Thanks can anyone tell me how bad are the bots these days?
its bots a few places but its not the swarm of goldfarmers you had back on launch now its mostly players doing afk grinding.

As other say game is way better than it was at launch.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

The game is in a very comfortable crown store offering place.

Balance, stability, lag, performance all of these things are in a terrible place. Zos is spinning in circles at this point.

I have not stability, lag or performance issues. From my point of view, they're doing a good job.

Invisible walls are trivial. Bots aren't a problem. The game is MUCH better than it was four years ago. No comment about the lag.

The game has issues, some which have persisted since launch.

However they generally don't outweigh the positives. The game is in a much better place now than it's been before, they big issues are as always being worked on.

Pick it up and play, if you find the issues on these forums are too much for you to enjoy the game then walk away, if not keep playing and enjoy the game for what it is.

    ESO has its problems.

Lag is annoying. Bot trains are everywhere. Support is nowhere. Balancing is schizophrenic. PVP is the same as it's always been. PVE is meh.

There is room for improvement, but it has gotten better over the years.

Lets say 1 million people are playing ESO actively - 2500 of those have game breaking issues. Its 0,25% of playerbase. When people are happy, they rarely complain :)

ESO is in TOP 4 healthiest MMORPGS, along with WoW, FF and GW2. Damn, I when I was playing SWTOR (best game ever), I was constantly reading in forums - "Please, devs of swtor, look at ESO and how much new content and improvements they dish yearly - you will never be like them and thats why your game is dead dead dead..." So ESO is a paragon of development in the eyes of players of smaller mmos..

If you prefer pve over pvp then it’s great, but if you prefer pvp I’d wait until they fix it..unfortunately despite all the issues i enjoy it too much
so i deal with the lag/dc‘s/freezes/abundance of cc/no walls so people can waltz into your keep

It’s absolutely a great game and everyone should at least try it, i only play shooters and tried this a few months ago..it’s a great experience even with some issues

The game is what you make of it.

People cry all the time on every single MMO's forum. Seriously go look at the forums for WoW or TOR or FFXIV or any other major MMO, it's just "omg the game's broken, OMG the devs suck, omg it's so bad" all the time.

I have fun in ESO every single day and nothing feels any more "broken" than any other MMO. Honestly there isn't one on the market that doesn't have lag or bugs you have to deal with.

Just give it a try and have fun and don't expect perfection cause nothing in life is perfect. But ESO is pretty darn close to me

Does wow have freezes ever 5 mins or buildings and entire zones that disappear under your feet? cuz when i played it, it didnt
