Was just talking with a friend about dealing with all the Aedra and Daedra through quests. We both thought the depth of the idea has been pretty neat to experience. That being said, we both thought of an idea. What about being able to swear allegiance to your favorite god(ess) and have each one include their own skill line? Only useable with sworn allegiance. Like a class skill line but only available after starting the game and traveling to said shrine? You could have Stendarr followers battling Mephala followers as an example. With the added ability to collect hero sets as apposed to monster sets. An Aedra follower wouldn't be wearing a skeleton head after all. Let's get this noticed and see some really cool growth!!

What if your character doesn't want to worship any of the gods? I mean, you've kicks Molag Bal, Barbas, and Nocturnal's asses, not to mention a plethora or lesser daedra. Why should I worship them? The dwemer didn't worship any gods.

Lore aside, this would be insanely hard to balance as it would add a million new skills to the game. Adding just one skill line requires hundreds of hours of testing and balancing, let alone adding a dozen or more skill lines.

Hahaha Great ideas but ZoS will rather add a new boring zone with a new minitrial +25

I could see this idea as a post-game concept.
The book left by Darien outlines the possibility of meridia being the next protagonising villain.

You have a point. Maybe just a few passives that correlate with following one that you can choose (or not choose) when creating a character then? I just think it would be cool to further seperate from cookie cutter characters.

You mean, something like... https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/231126/worship-in-tamriel-an-eso-religion-concept/p1 ;)
Yeah, we have been brainstorming about that idea before.

Personally from that discussion, I really liked both the idea of a minor faith-specific passive bonus (but no new skills) and the idea of a "blessing of..." buff you can gain by daily prayer at a shrine... some shrines might be easy (the divines are venerated in many cities) some shrines harder to find (daedric cults are often hidden - but there should be shrines for your home as well to get around that in the end)

With the faith thing being optional for everyone... those who pick a faith get the skill line and increased blessings from "their" diety, but become unable to recieve blessings from "strange gods" (aka, those not allied to their dity, so if you follow Mara for example, you might get +50% to her blessing, be able to recieve blessings from other divines, but not from dadra and such... if you follow Azura, you might get +50% to her blessing, recieve blessings from the other "Good Daedra", but no blessings from divines or other daedric princes: and if you declare for the tribunal, you might gain some socuial advantages in dunmer lands, but cannot recieve blessings from divines or daedra, etc. Yes, that means faiths are not equal. Deal with it.); those who don't pick any one can get increased flexibility by being able to pick blessings as befitting the situation...

And any faith would have daily questings to do for the glory of their diety that will increase ones standing within the faith, and allow to purchase special stuff... like, maybe faith-related crafting pages (like ebonshadow, order of the hour, malacath and trinimac style - it would be a second way to get them in addition to the usual, or to pick up that elusive final chapter you haven't been able to track down yet), possibly even faith-related adornments (tatoos, facepaint, jewelry, whatever) and special outfit pieces (like clerical helmets/headpieces and such) and faith-related set pieces (another "second way" to get those instead of farming the regions where they might drop). Obviously the prices would be such that it would be far more effort to earn the faith tokens to spend there then just farm for drops, to balance the ability to pick what you get...

And faiths also would have "sacriledges", things you must not do or you will loose some faith experience. Like if you follow Stendarr, divine of Justice, any criminal activity would be a sacriledge, and cost you points with your diety. On the other hand, following Nocturnal would be the opposite, there you would loose points only if you foolishly let yourself be caught stealing... well, or oppose her plots during CWC and Summerset.

In any case, it would be -great- to have some sort of take on faith in ESO, allowing our characters to declare if it fits their backstory and such...
