So you think only rich people should be allowed to buy items in ESO? These houses are expensive as it is. Shame on you.

But if a lot of people have it, how will he be able to show how cool he is?! [snip]

    [Edit for bait.]

That is the whole reason for expensive limited time offers. Cool factor.

Personally, I find the in-game stuff that I got for free to be more valuable for boosting my ego. Stuff that either required a ton of work (that money cannot buy), or is no longer available in the game. The beta monkey. The striped senche mount. These things have more value to me than all of the Crown properties combined. Since ZOS has basically stopped making stand-out exclusive in-game rewards so that they can monetize them, they are hard to come by.

You keep your gat darned hands off my beta monkey!

Now that that has been said, I really think that horses are intended to just look like a horse, not be anatomically accurate. I doubt that they will ever go back and make it any more accurate. The approximation they have is 'good enough'. They would never recover the expense of doing it, and they have other projects that will.

Well... I love the old horse model. I would like new high-quality colors but with the old mesh.

    The "house" translates to £80

That's more than the game and it's chapters

I was only able to check on my laptop, so graphics are lower than my main pc, but the horse's coloring seems to remind me of the decayed flesh one, but with fur texture instead of exposed muscle.

Also, is it just me, or do the costumes make the arm look skinnier? My medium buff character seems to have normal arms, my tall thin character looks like cloth over wire.

That horse looks normal. And is reasonably priced.

Except the normal horses used to cost 900 crowns. Only one of those left in the CS. Guess we know why they've been clearing those out, so people think that 1800 crowns is a reasonable price.

ETA: I figured the grotto would cost at least as much as the island, so no surprises there. In fact, I would have been surprised if they had charged less. Not that I care one way or the other, since I had decided in the mist of my preview on PTS that I had no interest in getting it. Just a ship house, yes...but the stupid Ayled ruin tacked on...no.

I purchased the Aldmeri Colossal Grotto and have been working on decorating it which has been completely exciting. So far I am happy with the place, and even a friend of mine has spent time with me there while I turn the place upside down. I’ve created a full story for the area which fits my character’s background completely.
I wasn’t a big fan of the coral so I did away with all of it. I was also not a big fan of the sea grape trees but they were helpful in creating a screening to hide some of the unfortunate shortcomings. The ship wrecks are in my opinion an eye sore but I did manage to hide or cover up spots which I deemed unsightly. The only two issues that I really have are of course the limited decorating slots for such a vast expanse of property. 700 doesn’t do the place justice or even fill the hold of the ship. I am hopeful though that someday we will see an increase or even a removal of the decorating cap. Secondly, the whole area for the most part is in a cavern with only real access to the sky being where the waterfalls enter and of course the minimal space just outside the cave. So how is it then that rain still falls everywhere, even under the roof of the entire ruin? Perhaps that could be looked into so that our belongings might stay dry?? I love the openness of the place and used Aylied grates for places I wanted added privacy. The ship is only a secondary place for me. I am happy with the size of it and unlike some critics I don’t think it needs to be any larger. The ruin is lovely and I am pleased with its design and layout. Many other houses are uniform and a bit cookie cutter or seemingly horizontal. The fact that this is vertical doesn’t phase me a bit. Those that complained about taking forever to get to a spot are not immersive enough and are too in a rush to get to the next thing on their agenda. So what this one has height! It’s a high elf estate after all. ;)
So in my summary...I should like to see a slot increase for these Notable properties and rain free environments under the roof of the ruin.
I hope everyone else is having fun creating their own homes and stories for the place. And thank you again to all the creators who make such things possible...this is a real treat!

About elven costumes. I agree - they are too shiny in a bad way. Almost all colors make this outfits plastic and unnatural, ugly. In addition, almost all colors look too dark, faded. Completely no option for you to find any bright color like those we can see on NPC. Drastic.

Colors should be reworked on these outfits, I believe.
Warning - there is a bug with pants if your character walks:

It is a ride, and a milk machine! What could be more convenient?

I will say, however, that I spend very little time looking at cow butts. Or horse butts, for that matter. Still, does seem a bit short and wide for a horse.

I agree, new outfits are way too shiny, all dyes, even the common ones, make it look like a latex. Strangely, it still looks fine on some of the NPC, so I really hope it's a bug that will be fixed in the future, since specular map or material fixes shouldn't take long.

Costumes also clip a little while riding, especially the 500 crowns one, and the 700 crowns one is not fully duable, somehow - ornaments and pants will stay white and grey.
Seriously, tint map fixes like this would take like 5 min max, so why even... *sigh*, guess quality problems shouldn't be a surprise by now, literally at least 1/2 released outfits have problems with either specular (too shiny), normal (neck seam visible with lighting changes) or tint map (poorly or not fully dyeable), sometimes even several.

One of the things that I have learned about ZOS and the costume art team is that they very rarely look back. I think the number of costumes that they have fixed after release can be counted on one hand. All of the rest of them are either deemed to be "good enough" or exactly they way they want them to be.

I think that if these were bugs, they would resolve to fix these problems with subsequent costumes. Since that has not happened, I figure that they just want the costumes to look that way.

I know a lot of people consider these to be premium paid content, but when you really get down to it, these costumes are offered up for free. They can be considered rewards for either subscribing to ESO Plus or buying Crowns. The Crowns are just a means to prevent players from claiming all of the rewards right away. The whole Crown Store can be thought of as a rudimentary shopping game.

Edit: (last line got clipped) It is best to consider that the costumes are "what you get is what you get", and to not expect anything else.

I am fully aware that the old school horses used to be 900 crowns. But the last normal looking new horse (no sparkles, no ridiculously over the top decorations) we had was the Witch Knight Charger and that was 2500 - which is sort of what I was expecting for this one. Hence my surprise at a "reasonable" price.

I got the horse and I regret it. The booty is ugly as sin while you are running along. Looks like a Rorschach test blob.

I was literally getting ready to push the buy button, and I thought I'd better read the forums one more time. So glad I did after reading this. Can you tell me if rain also falls in the covered parts of the ruins? The parts that have an actual roof? This will be a deal breaker for me. :-(

I can understand Role playing groups would like the Grotto but as a standard house not really.. Too large cannot be used as a guild base as not enough stuff and customers can visit at once..

Well, I was finally able to answer my own question and find it raining inside the Aldmeri Colossal Grotto during preview.I can say it doesn't rain everywhere inside the ruins. There is plenty of dry space for a home like atmosphere.

After buying, I can say it's nearly perfect for me. If you are looking for a place to fill up every square inch, naturally this isn't for you. I was looking for a nice mix of home (boat and ruins) and open space. I figure I should be able to buy any crazy achievement furnishing and statue I might find, and I should be able to find a spot somewhere in the Grotto without tarting up my home space. I envision a strolling museum of accomplishments. Rowboat from fishing? No problem!

My only complaint is the excessive amount of shipwreck, but even that was able to be toned down. All in all, I'm very happy with the house.
