That is the whole reason for expensive limited time offers. Cool factor.
Personally, I find the in-game stuff that I got for free to be more valuable for boosting my ego. Stuff that either required a ton of work (that money cannot buy), or is no longer available in the game. The beta monkey. The striped senche mount. These things have more value to me than all of the Crown properties combined. Since ZOS has basically stopped making stand-out exclusive in-game rewards so that they can monetize them, they are hard to come by.
