So, a couple weeks ago I opened my storage coffer holding all of my Maelstrom weapons (besides my staves which were in my characters inventory) and they were gone. 30 weapons all with good traits. Then I opened my coffer holding my monster sets and they were all gone too. 60 pieces. Freaking out, I got on here and looked it up to see if it has happened to anyone else. I found a thread from February addressing the problem which ended in a Dev saying the bug was fixed and the thread was closed. Apparently, bound items that were stored in chests were sometimes being deleted when you deleted a character. I contacted ZOS. It took them two weeks but they finally got back to me today and told me I'm screwed, basically.

I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I've been playing for a year and have never heard of this bug. Although I'm sure many of you have, there are no doubt others that haven't. DO NOT delete a character without first removing your bound items from your storage chests. The bug has NOT been fixed, even though ZOS says it has.

Did you make sure to check all your characters' inventories also?
On the Summerset PTS, there was a bug where storage chest contents were being sent to character inventory.

I'm unsure of when this would happen, on login or logout or house load, but this was what a bug on PTS was doing. It just emptied the chests into character inventories.

Yes, unfortunately they're not in any of my alts inventories or in the bank. Also, forgot to mention I'm on PS4.

    Oh crap
I will need to check my items in chests NOW since I deleted a character after they say they've fixed it

And thankfully we have transmutation to avoid needing to farm the right traits anymore.

Reply to the email. They absolutely can restore the items (it's just time consuming). If they don't want to take the time to do it, ask for alternative compensation (like gold or crowns/crates).

They said they weren't allowed to restore the items. I didn't ask about alternative compensation..

They lied to you lol (it might have even been an automated response). It's just a time consuming process so they avoid it whenever they can.

Since you lost a large number of items, I'm sure they would rather compensate you than restore each item manually. Since these are bound items without a gold value, just ask for something you need (gold, crowns, etc.) as compensation. They are acommodating when it comes to bugs deleting your items, you just need to be persistent.

    Ok thanks for the advice.

Use the term that you escalating your issue and you want to talk to a Supervisor. While they may not be able to recover your exact item. An easy alternative would be one of each weapon you were holding on to and then something like some gold or crown crates as compensation for the loss of the others, especially as seeing VMA is not easy content and very, very stressful to run, especially when you are first learning it.
Far too many characters to list any more.

iirc this was well documented in the forums awhile back. Not OP in particular but a number of players did post here in the forums.

It seems to be an issue that has been resolved. I have a number of chests laden mostly with bound gear and as of last night they were all still there.

Just an FYI, if you switch to a character that you are not deleting and then log out and delete the character you want to delete, you won't lose items. The item deletion only seems to happen if the last character you logged in on is the one you are deleting.

This is just stupid. I thought ZOS fixed this bug months ago! Guess its another failure to add to the many that's are in the game that ZOS refuses to fix.

There was a thread back in February that was closed regarding this issue because it was solved, it's true. The point of this post was to show that it is in fact not solved and still happening. It can happen when you delete a character.

I did exactly this and they said they would be sending it up to management. Thanks for the tip.
