Fix/improve pickpocketing!

I am becoming increasingly annoyed with pickpocketing. My skill line is maxed out so I don't know whether this is a bug or part of the gamebut when I pickpocket someone it will say 90% or something, then when I press F, the second I press it, it goes down to 50% or something and I get caught. Is this a bug or just a stupid mechanic? It needs to be fixed because It ruins the gameplay.

    It is total BS. Since writing this post I have been caught 3 times and now have a bounty of over 1000 gold because 2 of them started a fight with me and I had to kill them.

    The trick is to be close enough to the target so that the attempt does not require additional movement (being too close can sometimes force your character to readjust themselves before the attempt and being too far forces your character to move forward). Make sure that the NPC is truly stationary during the attempt, since a suddenly moving target can potentially cause you to fail.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    Any bit of lag will get you caught as the target has moved and in many cases might have been facing you, but the pick pocket attempt still goes through.

    That's why 100% chance still gets caught and why really high chance targets catch you. It doesn't happen on non-mobile targets for the most part, just the roamers.

    You don't need to kill anyone even when attacked. Just run and hide behind a high rock/wall and their agression status will decrease and they will loose interest in you very fast, the same with the guards.
    Invest in 2 special sets for effective thievery, which give range decrease for being seen.
    With them and on khajiit, stealing is poetry and easy :).

    Pickpocketing in eso is easy if you know what to do and do it correctly.

    In most cases it's lag. The green numbers pop on your screen a second or two late and the server registers your pick after the actual number has gone down. Also, if you're a NB, just hit your cloak (or drink invis potions) a few times after they aggro, and they will go back to whatever they were doing. No need to exacerbate your bounty by fighting them in front of others. And.... do the Covetous Countess quest repeatedly in the Thieves Guild, and you will have stacks of counterfeit pardon edicts to erase your bounty. Not to mention getting the occasional Abah's Watch motifs as well.

    Invis pots helps a lot when you are in danger of getting spotted both while pickpocket or open any container with stolen goods.

    At some stage of TG skill line you will also get reduced bounty when you go to a Fencer. It is another option to TP to Hew's Bane (TG hide out) (one of the easiest to avoid guards) and use Fencer to get rid of smaller bounty before they grow too large. Make sure you have a larger friend and or guild list and TP to anyone which isn't in a city (WS) with guards. Pop an invis pot while you are in sneak mode and before you start TP to avoid being interrupted/detected.

    Take your time to observe each NPC movement and placement (so they don't stand in a position where they might see you) before doing any stealing.

    If you had a khajiit or bosmer nightblade, you may find it extremely easier as they have the stealthy racial passive which reduces the radius which they can be detected by 3 meters, combine that with a full set of night Mother’s embrace and 3 pieces of night terror, and you can practically nearly stare at them face to face without being detected.
    If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

    If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

    It can be immersive with out being so tedious.
    Its my opinion that they have adjusted pickpocketing.

    The npc act differently. Kinda buggy from what they used to about 4 months or so ago.
    I spent enough time pickpocketing that i have almost 50 gold skulls so i think i have a bit of a feel for it.

    You can run away and u dont have to kill npc.

    If your going to spend much time pickpocketing
    Roll a second toon make it a khajitt.

    Like the other reply get two sets that reduce detection
    I have 3 sets on my toon. The 3rd set is on the back bar so i can run move with no sneak penalty. Then i switch to fron bar with both sneak reduction sets if needed.

    What should really be fixed is the not being hidden when literally no one is looking at you and then you have to run away like twelve feet and come back to the same exact position you were before to get the all-clear that you aren't detected anymore even though you shouldn't have been the first time.
    That open eye triggers me.

    they simply do not posses the thief type lifestyle qualities one needs to steal in a proper manner like the argonians and khajiit.

    Be faster. As soon as it turns green, pick the pocket. It only stays green a short while and the percentage spends most of its time at the lower number.
