Are we going to have to zone out to receive mail forever?

Why can't I receive mail after already receiving mail? It's really annoying having to switch zones all the time and it's been like this for years, and I know they're aware of it.

Obviously it's not the biggest issue in the game, but that's why it irks me. What's the deal? Is it really that complicated of a fix? Or is this one of those "we don't want to fix it" situations

Honestly, it's most of the times I recieve mails instantly. Only rarely I do have to port around.

Out of all things i.e invisible party members, disappearing walls and (sic) the ground, exploitable trials and bugged guild banks where your items and gold just disappear into oblivion, i would say having to switch zones to receive mail is the LEAST of my troubles.

I don't think you will get a lot of votes on this one.
You left out the option 'I don't have to zone to receive mail'. I usually receive mail in about 5 minutes.

@Ragebull a pro tip: when having a friend send you mail, ask them to cod 1 gold. Watch that boi come instantly. Boom. Done.

If it is not broken, dont touch it.

Tinkering around in a running system is as likely to improve it as to break it.

If u cant sell it as a "new" feature. DONT effin touch it!!

i send a piece of junk to a guildie and that usually triggers it

They don't feel like fixing it

Honestly I was torn between the options.... I really wanted to vote that they don't know how to fix it but I think they're more lazy than incompetent so I voted they don't want to.

They've proven they can fix crown store issues in a timely and professional fashion. However their overwhelming number of bugs and performance issues that go on for years says they just don't feel like fixing these things.

They may eventually get around to it even, but doubtful. They seem to be a "do the minimal to get by" type company.

I for one would love a DLC with no addiotnal content. Just pay for a DLC that says in its description;

"We will fix our game if you purchase this!"

I can say the same thing IRL. I check the mail when I get home from work, I have mail. If I check it again when I go out that night, no mail. See? Working as intended.

TBH, opening your mail should perform a "refresh" and download any new mail that's waiting.

It was added in to prevent a duping bug from back in the day.

If this is true I don't think it's a very good "feature" and is really just a poorly implemented fix for something they surely could have solved another way.

It's like using duct tape to patch your pool. Sure it might work for a bit, but you really should fix it properly.

Believe me, you don't want to test ZOS ability to screwup even simplest things.
Change this ancient feature anyhow, and you'll start getting new Steam login issues, new disappearing walls, your IRL car will burn and your wife will ask divorce.

Trust me, I've been here since the beginning and know full well how superb of a job ZOS does at screwing up the simplest of things. Doesn't mean we shouldn't expect better of them and they shouldn't strive to be better.

I take pride in my work though but unfortunately not everyone does. I would be ashamed if my name were attached to this game tbh...

Honestly, this game should have mail sent by courier to make it more in line with the medieval setting. Mail should take a few months to arrive.

I thought they fixed this in one of their last patches. I get about 95% of my mail instantly. If I take something down from my vendor or I buy something off a gold trader, that's about only time I have to change zones, and even then..its only sometimes.

anyway, not bothered by it i know when i zone i'll get the mail. if i hang around long enough (about 3 minutes.... such a grind) i'll get it anyway.

For the first item yeah it usually just involves a wait. But if you wait and then get another sent you'll have to travel

In Vanilla WoW, mail used to take an HOUR to be delivered. Buy something off the AH, you'll get it in an hour. Friend sending you mats/gold for your newbie. Gotta wait an hour.

Looking at their developers. I'm sure they just tag these reported bugs as "non-recreatable" and move on. I used to think it's that they don't feel like fixing it, but lately I'm leaning more towards sheer incompetence.

It's been a "feature" from day 1. I imagine the fix is too much work so we'll never get one. One of the drawbacks to using a crappy game engine.

I remember back in the day when both IRL and in Games you had to go to the post box to get your mail.

I miss those days fewer people feeling every little thing has to be automated and handed to them.

Depends. Last night I bought stuff off guild traders. I had guildies send me messages. I got everything in a short while without zoning/logging. A couple of days ago I did the same thing, and didn't get mail until I moved to another zone. It isn't consistent. I just go with the idea that mail is delivered by scribs, and they get distracted/killed along the way sometimes.
