I have tried all in my possibilities. The client attempts to connect to the EU server, but does not receive a reply. Similarly, https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/home remains stuck. The file http://launcher.bethesda.net/Bethesda.net_Launcher/Bethesda.net_Launcher.patchmanifest starts to download, but does not go beyond the headers (receives the size and stops).

The 4.5 MB beacon = intro image of the client is however received at the habitual speed. BTW I would suggest to make it a lot smaller ... it makes seem the computer much slower that it really is ;)

Due to the huge download, I really do not want to attempt a fresh install.

Everything worked well until yesterday evening +/- same time as this post. I have not made any software updates or changes on my system either.

I have checked the cables, connection, routers, up and download speed. I can ping all servers. netstat shows me nothing suspicious.

I'll go to sleep now. Tomorrow is another day. It must be just me :)

Having similar issue today. Launcher stuck on 'verifying'. When I attempt to close the launcher it freezes/crashes.

I'm still having this issue. In netstat I have a connection waiting to close forever. Also there are some stalling udp connections which I assume are for the game

The Game Consultant is stuck, too, and frozen. However the rainbow hourglass activates when passing over with the mouse ... so, something is happening, but I'm unable to tell, what.

At this point, on Windows I would install Wireshark ... should I, must I, on the Mac? :p

Please see the attachment for the results after 10 minutes waiting ;)

I have the same problem after PC/Mac Patch v4.0.8! I solved temporary the problem opening a VPN connection. Please fix it!

    This might help:

    (see thread: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/414104/instant-crash-on-my-mac-workaround#latest)

Just to confirm, the solution from @smacx250 works perfectly.

If you're running on 12 cores:

Locate and click on the UserSettings.txt document (Documents > The Elder Scroll Online > Live)

Scroll down to SET MaxCoresToUse.4 "-1" and change to: SET MaxCoresToUse.4 "6"

If you're running on 16 cores then change to: SET MaxCoresToUse.4 "8"

The game will now launch and play normally with performance and stability as it should be.

Just to verify, this workaround seems to have fixed the insta-crash for me on a 6-core, 4,1 Mac Pro:
    1.Edit ~/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/UserSettings.txt
    2. Find SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1" AND SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "-1"
3 Replace -1 with 1 in both lines
