Really bad timing for a server downtime

Hello ESO guys
this was really a bad timing for putting the servers down
I imagine the reason is that the dev team is now up and running but from a EU player's perspective it's really bad user experience
Fine if there was some communication before but the only post on the forum (already an info kind of hard to find. Much better some in-game info a few times/days in advance, or a mail) was posted half an hour before the server was shutdown
I could have personally done something else this evening rather than coming back home to play and now I am stuck
I just hope this won't happen again and again (I understand your dev team is in US but I hope you see your EU players as valuable as our US friends)
Thanks

I wonder if you EU people also realize that your servers were up all day yesterday while US was down for about 14 hours. Please stop crying about a 3-4 hour downtime.

MrSalty, where you happy about that?
Sorry you had a bad time yesterday. That doesn't mean what happened today was good
Btw, didn't know things were this bad in the US! Any message or just servers down?
Maybe they are just struggling from a tech perspective :s

The downtime for the US server yesterday was due to a data base issue that was causing people to log in to other peoples accounts. So it wasn't so much an issue with the game itself, but the server and the database messing up. That is why the EU didn't get effected by it, because their database didn't freak out.

    Wow, that's pretty serious!
I guess it's normal to expect issues at launch. I imagine this downtime is kind of the same thing. They did not expect to have to take the servers down
At least I really hope that's the case! Otherwise hope they'll fix the communication issues. I just wish I did not come back home to play now :(

So, because the US players has a crappy time yesterday it's OK for the EU players to have a crappy time today?

And of course nobody was complaining about the US downtime. Oh, no, they all took it on the chin and held their tongues...

As someone from the US, I have to agree. The US downtime was due to an issue that could not be prevented. The prime time EU downtime was planned; that's a serious oversight on the developers' part.

Not to mention that I thought EU and NA servers were separate? So why then do they need to be shut down at the same times?

Cause like Star Trek Online they are all on same server...

no, they are preparing both servers for the launch. In some countries its already 4/4.

No there was complaining, but you are acting like the US servers aren't down right now too. Both servers are down and those of us that work night shifts in the US can't play during our prime time either. I agree it was a mistake to do this middle of the last day of early access, but don't act make this a EU vs US thing. This is a Customers not happy with the Provider thing.

The servers came down in preparation for the official launch which is actually at 7 pm Eastern time this evening. They took down the account site, the game and the store to prepare. Since I can play anytime from here on out I don't have a major issue with it, plus I am at work anyway. I do question the timing of it as well though; unless there are known issues they want/need to resolve, I don't see why this "preparation" wasn't done pre-early access?

And so what? US had an emergency maintenance that will most likely be reimbursed by giving 12-24h free game time in the next month.

This is a PLANNED maintenance. Stop mixing emergencies and plans.
