For me it's the same as the crates they sometimes offer during weekend events, but now it's (almost) everyday, and still free, that's fine.

There is a difference, though. Crate trash can be converted to gems.

Yeah, more free crates within any particular cycle means more chances for dupes turned into gems on top of the consumables turned into gems. And with gems, you can eventually grab something you want.

I don't understand the complaints at all. I like the system. The filler isn't bad and the crates are great. There WILL be filler on any system like this. The key is to use the consumables immediately.

AP, Gold, Tel Var - no inventory slots used - not helpful, but no problem

XP Scrolls - Alts and skill lines make these useful to the vast majority of players. Even those over the cap.

3 Soul gems - I charge my weapons the second I get them. useful and gone instantly

Crown repair kits- ffs these are great. It takes 2 seconds to repair everything and it's free.

Tri pots - They are better than the trash drops. They are useless if you ONLY use crafted potions, but who does that? Just make them your next 25 non crafted potions.

Meals - leveling alts or trash -10 second inconvenience at worst - potentially useful.

Pets - I really like them. So does a ton of the player base. They are harmless if you don't.

Crates - over time, costumes, pets, cosmetics, motifs - I have crate items I like and 150 gems, but I've never bought a crate. How on earth is this bad?

Poisons - Okay, this one might be bad. You might be better off using the weapon enchantment. But at least that weapon is charged. : )

Did I miss something? What's with the grumpy fest on the free stuff?

The crates are nice. Currency is completely useless (amounts are too low) and consumables are so-so I guess.

I played the game for four years without it.

AP, Gold, Tel Var - Gold, I can use, but don't need. The other two just go into the bank and sit.

XP Scrolls - Part of the problem that I have with ESO is that character progression happens too quickly. Bonus XP events are usually good enough for me.

Soul gems - I've never had a problem keeping fully stocked with the in-game soul gems

Crown repair kits- I concede that these are probably the most useful thing in the crown store, not for the cost, but the convenience. Now, I never need to buy one!

Tri-pots, Food, Drinks- I have been using crafted food, drink, and potions all this time and have in-game characters that do this. I really don't need the Crown versions. I still have leftovers I didn't eat from Starter Packs. These things don't stack, well, by the way.

Pets - I really like them. I like the pets, and this is the main reason I play "daily rewards" here at ESO. Once I get them, I tend to lose interest.

Crates - I never even claimed the last crates from June. I have a hundred unopened Crown Crates. I don't need any more.

Poisons - These are destroyed almost immediately.

This is just ZOS trying to tell people that they cannot play the game without the helpful Crown Store stuff. They give me all this stuff that I have done just fine without for all these years, which I have discovered does not stack well, and it just takes up inventory space. On my non-ESO Plus accounts, it is too much to store and it is best to just delete anything that takes up inventory space. I wish they had gold value so I could vendor them. I don't need the gold, but it can get annoying typing "DESTROY" all the time.

It's interesting. I like prezzies, so even if I don't appreciate every single little thing, I find them mostly fun.

Hate the oversized advert screen though.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Well, judging by this look into your thinking, I'm thinking the system isn't targeted at you. Honestly, I can't think of anything they could give for a daily reward system that would be for you. (And that's fine, not everything works for every person. Different interests & all that. Kind of like every mention they make of pvp or trials just flies right by me.)

(curious, though - any particular reason you don't open the 'free' crates? Protest of principle against lootcrates?)
This is just ZOS trying to tell people that they cannot play the game without the helpful Crown Store stuff.

Hmm. While I would say that it's at least partially an advertisement for the Wonderful Things You Could Buy, I don't see it as 'telling people they can't play without it".

Honestly, seeing how minor the Crown Store things are is a wonderful demonstration that they're a waste of Crowns. But, then, I see most "try this free crate! get hooked!" offers that way - "Thanks for the free Crown Crate/Fallout Shelter lunchbox/whatever.... opening it showed me how disappointing they are, so I'll be sure not to bother buying any. But I'll happily take any more free ones you send my way! ;) "

I got a frost mount with the free scale caller crate and a free psijic horse with my free psijic crates. Both are Ugly as can be and I wish I could have deconstructed for gems. All the mounts in this game besides the Elks (I have both) are ugly to me so I really dont care about crown crates.

    Free junk is still junk.

I believe its another way to promote crown crate purchases which is enabling gambling.

To my mind, if you have reached the stage in the game whereby the only thing left to do is the daily rewards, you've effectively "completed" the game and if I reach that stage, I will put the game down and start playing something new. I don't see the point in continuing to play a game for the sake of a daily grind, once you have completed it

Most of the rewards are trash I'm either using just to get rid of them or trash I'm deleting because using them is more hassle than it's worth. Some items are ok like the random amounts of gold and the odd one is good - the alliance points are good for me at the moment because I want the Akavari motif but don't enjoy PvP so that's saving me some time.

I kind of understand the mentality of "it's free therefore it's good", but free stuff you have so little interest in that you're just trying to get rid of it ASAP isn't good to me. It's like being given a flyer for an event I don't care about - sure it's free, but all it means to me is I have to dig it out my bag and throw it away later, so I'd rather not get handed it to begin with.

The first month I actually went out of my way to make sure I logged in enough to get all the rewards, but I feel like I already burned myself out on doing that and I don't think I'll do it again. Even though I got the Psychic Horse from the crates, which is one of the few apex mounts I actually like it wasn't really worth the effort with how much I was away. (Some days I had to get out of bed, turn the PC on immediately, keep coming back while trying to get ready to do various steps of the login process and then shut it down just as I was going out the door because that was the only time I had.)

The crafting hirelings are actually more effective at getting me to log in every day. Crafting materials are something I can always use or sell, so I feel like I'm missing something if I don't get them.

(curious, though - any particular reason you don't open the 'free' crates? Protest of principle against lootcrates?)

No, the daily rewards are not or me. All I want is the pet. However, if I decide I don't want the pet, I can't opt-out. I have to either take the items, or they want to remind me every time I log into the game. As I have noted elsewhere, they have some sort of fear that someone is going to play the game and not take the reward. It is almost like they lose sleep over the idea.

The crates mostly give more of the above, but with unpredictable results. Why bother taking all that time to either throw stuff out or collect Gems? I'd rather just buy the stuff in the game. That includes the daily reward pet. Yes. I'd rather PAY THEM a reasonable amount of Crowns to get that stuff directly than get it for free by playing random crate games, or threading my way through daily rewards to get to it.

This is just ZOS trying to tell people that they cannot play the game without the helpful Crown Store stuff.

I find that free stuff is generally worth exactly, or slightly less, than what you pay for it.

The poll is one of the wort worded in recent memory as it seems opposite of what it should be.

    Think about it.

Daily rewards worth it? yes, but I think it is bad.

Daily rewards worth it? No, it is good.

Not that it matters since we all know forum polls are entertainment value anyhow but at least make the answers seem somewhat appropriate.

if I had been designing this give away I’d have been much meaner. I’d have given 1 or 2 free crown crates on 1 random day per week, you wouldn’t know which day it would appear so logging in each day just incase you miss it. I’m concerned that as they stand now the rewards affect sales from guild stores.
Everything will be alright in the end, if its not alright its not the end.

The only reason I accept the rewards is that if I don't take them, the notification sound will chime every single time I change zones, which gets annoying real quick.

Why can't this idiotic system have an option to allow us to dismiss the notification.

I'm an ESO+ member. Giving me a daily reward is like giving a hooker herpes.

Just because it's free doesn't mean it's welcome.
