If you could buff an old set what would you do?

I would buff Essence Thief to add another viable sustainish damageish Stam set to the meta. On paper Essence Thief looks as if it could be very strong. But when you use it it is not strong at all from my experience. I would personally buff it in the sense that the essences spawn much closer to you so they are much easier to get and it’s not a Dps loss to get them.

I'd buff Oblivion's Foe to give a generic damage increase vs targets that are Soul Trapped

It'd have to be pretty sizable to make up for the fact that you are running Soul Trap and giving up a set, but it could be interesting at least.

Double the damage, and add Major Defile to the effect while you are at it.

    Perfectly balanced.

In the opinion, Sloads needs a buff in damage too many good players can out heal it and if I can’t kill players much more skilled than me what’s the point

    Ice Furnace Set

(2 items) Adds 1096 Max Magicka

(3 items) Adds 833 Spell Critical

(4 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage

(5 items) When you deal damage (changed from direct damage) with a Frost Damage ability, you have a 50% chance to deal an additional 1046 Flame Damage to all enemies within 8 meters around the initial target. This effect can occur once every 1 second.

Basically this adds an AOE Burning Light to frost damage, which would be nice for magwardens. And since it's not burst damage, it would be exclusively relevant to PVE.

Ashen Grip. Buff it so that the 5th piece is stronger and enemies affected have minor vulnerability applied for 6 seconds.

I would add weapon damage or more crit to the 5th piece bonus of night's silence. That way I wouldn't feel so bad about always using it on my nightblade.

    Magnus' Gift

(2 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka

(3 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery

(4 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage

(5 items) When you cast a Magicka ability, you have an 8% chance to negate the cost of any abilities cast withing next 4 seconds.

Or I'd probably turn Ashen's Grip damage into physical, make it look like an ash cloud instead and increase the damage dealt overall.

    In no particular order:

Iceheart: switch the 1 pc to Max Health or resistances to emphasize survivability.
Destruction Mastery: buff the 5 pc to give more Max Magicka.
Rattlecage: change the 1 pc to Spell Damage and change the buff to a proc that can carry over to the other bar.
Domihaus: improve the AOE of the damage proc.
Elegance: add a self-heal or resource return buff to the 5 pc.
Burning Spellweave: the previous nerf went too far by reducing both proc chance and damage. They should have only reduced the proc chance. Restore the damage to the old value.
Combat Physician: give the set a per-target cooldown instead of a global cooldown.
Warrior-Poet: Change 5 pc to apply Minor Toughness to your group.
Vampire Lord: This set is completely obsolete due to War Maiden. Change 5 pc to nullify the negative effects of vampirism (health recovery and fire weakness).
Scathing Mage: Remove the "direct" damage requirement. Let it proc on any crit damage.
Wise Mage: Change to a Magicka version of Vicious Serpent
Powerful Assault: Introduce the Minor Courage buff and use it for the 5 pc
Salvation: Add poison resistance to 5 pc.
Imperium: Increase the range to 20m.
Trainee: another set that got over-nerfed. Increase the 5 pc stat values at least halfway back to where they used to be.
Wyrd Tree: change 3 pc to Max Magicka, change the proc condition to healing a target, remove only 1 effect, and make the cooldown 3 sec per target (not global)

A bunch more, but you get the idea.

IA needs something else for its 5pc. Minor vulnerability can be easily obtained by anyone with an Asylum staff, infused Shock glyph, or even just a charged weapon trait. There is no reason to waste a 5pc set for this, especially now that no bosses are immune to concussion.

I would like to see it become a useful group buff, possibly functioning like Morag Tong or Engulfing Flames. It could make heavy attacks increase the amount of damage an enemy takes from shock and/or magic damage by 10% for 10s.

The poison used to trigger on your opponent but now triggers in front of the player. I wish this changed back to make it better for long range too.

Such a great name and memories of using it in all my builds. I would buff its 5 piece to it its former glory (relative to what's out there now) for old times sake.

Disgraceful set and a small wonder that only half the DB die if that's what wearing.

    My version
    Stamina
    Magic
    Weapon+Spell Crit
Increase the effectiveness of poisons by 20%.

It only makes sense that a league of assassins from all walks of life would use a Hybrid set that caters to poison usage and would fit in well thematically, especially since poisons were 1st introduced in the DB patch.

Morkuldin - The swords appear when you enter combat.
Pelinal's Aptitude - 5pc set crit% to the same value as well

Elegence - Change 5pc to empowered.
Hircine - 5pc stam cost reduction 8%, change stam regen to max stam and max health, make it heavy armour.
Scathing mage - remove the crit requirement
Vestments of the Warlock - change mag regen to spell damage and crit. buff 5pc to 10k magicka
Desert Rose - make it a heavy set
witchmans armour - double the resources returned on ult.
footman's fortune - 5pc also reduce cost of blocking by 8%

Could go on forever, and these are the ones that just need "tweaking". A LOT of sets could use little buffs to bring them closer to the "META" sets and open them up as viable alternatives. Like destruction mastery. tweak the max magicka a bit and it's a good set.

So many sets are just bad in every way.
like, dune-rippers scales. Why does this exist with Mark of the Pariah Or brass fortress? There is literally no time ever that using dune ripper is a good idea.

All the sets that provide 400 spell/weapon damage increases to specific damage or skill types get buffed to 600 spell/weapon damage instead. Sets like Innate Axiom, War Maiden, Sword-Singer, Netch etc

I'd love for them to be viable such that I could choose to run a class or weapon skill heavy build without being gimped. Also not so good that it means it's the new meta.

You already have Shield Breaker and Sloads for Sorc haters, Torugs should be off limits for Stamina builds.

Remove RNG from monster helms, and make them scale better.

Valkyn: Every 30/35 dot ticks drop a meteor on your enemy. 5 dots, 6/7, so quite balanced. No cooldown. More dots = more meteors, and you can time it better based on your own dot amount. Currently valkyn gets worse outnumbered, since dotting more people means less chance of it being on the one you want.

Bloodspawn: Every 50 hits you take, turn your skin to stone gaining 15 ult (why they changed to 14, beats me) and increase your resistances by X. No cooldown, more hits = more procs, but takes longer vs less players.

Malubeth: Every 10s, drain the essence from those 8m around you, dealing 2k damage and healing 2k. Every essence drained increases your healing by 7% for 5s. Lesser healing up to a 1v4, but more reliable and timed. More healing after that.

    Numbers can be tweaked.
