No they won't since early access was a bonus and not actually paid for.

Sure, refund on the way! Oh, wait... the 5 day early access was a gift. So... you want what? They gave you early access in exchange for a pre-release final testing time. No, you won't get all 5 days. But it was free. They don't get your money for those 5 days, but they have a million guinea pigs on their server pre-launch to help ensure the game is up to par by the launch date.

Thing is though, those of you arguing in favor of the shutdowns, it is setting a precedence for them to be able to shut down on a daily basis...not good if think about it.

They could extend pre-orders 30-day subscription by a day or two.

I may be wrong here , but i dont remember ANY other game i paid sub/month EVER refunding anything like this.

If the game was out for some hours , it was out for some hours , that is it.

Wrong, Elember. They can get away with it now because it is the final stress test, and the pre-purchase demographic is one that will stick with the game because they are the foundational fan base. Come live-launch, you will see people who are not in the ESO boat yet trying the game, at which point service will step up in accordance with a lower tolerance for downtime. The first month will still be riddled with maintenance and likely some refunds, but the pre-launch access will have no compensation.

While I agree that griping is going to get nobody anywhere -the major premise behind preording for most people is the early access. To say you didn't "pay for it" would be a complete fallacy. The sole reason for preordering in my case was the early access and the last time I checked I'm out 70 bucks and 2 of my 5 days "early access" were null and void.

how much did you pay to pre order?

I must say shutting down the servers at 20.00 my time was really not something that I would expect.

All day I was working and looking forward to playing and then I log in just to read the message that servers will now be shut down?

So far the whole early access was spent waiting for Quest bugs to be resolved.

Then they make a maintenance at about 23pm and the next evening again allready at 20.00?

Please try to consider a bit better the different time zones.

Europe has different time zones than the US.

Conveniant maintenance times are 4.00-8.00 in the morning.

Please in the future stop making maintenances in the evening when people come home from work and want to play from about 19.00 to as late they can afford.

Pretty much two days out of five were unavailable due to extended downtime.

    Not good.

Well, if you do the math, it's not much money, so this is kind of a pointless discussion. Sorry.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA your serious?!?? This was a free gift for Digital DL and for pre-ordering. Why do people get so upset when a game that is a MASSIVE undertaking, has a couple of bugs....i mean come on, this isn't D3 I have one server. They actually did a pretty good job. You just seem upset with life. Go read a book and burn a fatty.

I can play evenings. Just started to play and I get that message in my face. Great, 1/5 evenings for me is gone. They should have sold 4 days head start, not 5 since 5 days is now a big fat lie.

Boss chuckles to himself over the poetic justice of this! ;p

    NA Mega-server
Basilthwaite - male Nord Templar Ebonheart Pact (unwittingly looks like Hulk Hogan. Trying to find some bright gold breeches to match the persona.)

Arwen Basilrond - female Wood Elf Nightblade Aldmeri Dominion (this character is smoken', but she's been advised to quite due to 'elf reasons!)

Sir Basil Ozarian - male Imperial Dragonknight Daggerfall Covenant (this character is titled, but not entitled!)

Perhaps we are seeing why some other MMO's have a much larger number of geo-located servers... As they say... It's 5 o'clock somewhere - have a drink!

True that - so I'll simply settle for the interest the money I spent would have generated for being in my account an extra month? Or about a day extension on the first month pro-rata as it would work out...

If the game was out for some hours , it was out for some hours , that is it.

FFXIV ARR gave everybody extra time due to down times in early access and a week after launch.

I agree with some here, this isn't a beta test. Early access should be launch, just a few days early for some. And we DEFINITELY pay for it. We pay in not knowing if the game is any good, we pay for their failures if this game flops on release. We are "investors" and those that play the game for free some time down the road (if it goes f2p) will get the benefits that we paid for. Just because we don't pay "extra" in cash, doesn't mean that we aren't entitled to early access for investing, besides the fact that it was presented to us as part of what we were purchasing, not a free addon.

That being said, downtime on a new MMO is pretty standard. If it was down for a few hours frequently, it would be a different story, but this is expected. But, this game is a buggy mess, even compared to a lot of MMOs on launch. The actual play time is pretty smooth (with a bunch of game breaking lag only happening infrequently) but the sheer number of game breaking bugs is actually ridiculous, seeing as many of them have been around for many months. I still think that GW2 had one of my favorite launches. It wasn't perfect but I was able to play from early access right on through with few interruptions and the way they handle their updates is incredible as they don't even force down times, just game restarts. Why that isn't standard now, is unknown to me.

Agree 100%...we PAID for early access and this is an ONLINE game that we PAY for in the subscription part of the purchase. OUR MONEY, OUR TIME and no warning that this was going to happen.

plenty of games have extended the 30 days worth of playtime because of extended downtimes in early access or start of the game.
