Eso Won't Start Up.

I bought Eso, Installed it and all that jazz.. but now when I click the play button nothing happens. I live in New Zealand and have Kaspersky (anti-virus). Please help

if you still havn't fixed it, this is how I fixed it. take a flash drive to a friends house where it works, copy their live folder from my documents onto flash drive, go to your computer, replace the live folder, go into usersettings and change that value they always want you to change, problem fixed. Worked with my GFs comp when I transferred over my file. Nothing else the support did helped.

good luck. comment if my fix works for you like it did for me. Customer support may not thing of it as a viable option when I told them how I fixed it, but if it is a working fix, they may figure out how to send people live folders who have this issue. your problem is a "click the play button and it goes grey and doesn't open the game" right?

Check your Anti virus application block list it may have placed ESO there for some odd reason, F-secure did try very same thing.

This is not a guaranteed fix, but we have seen it alleviate this bug for multiple posters on the forums.
Please go to your "My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online" folder and open the folder in there called "Live."

If there is a file called "UserSettings.txt" do the below.
Open the file "UserSettings.txt" in Notepad, and delete all the content in it.
Copy and paste the text quoted at the bottom of this post.
Save and close the file.
Restart your launcher.

Thanks! I had the same problem but it worked on my laptop. I did this and also replaced the UserSettings txt and it started up! thnx!

This does not work at all, btw im not even clear on what your instructions are to be honest not very clear at all, iv had this game for 3 days now and it wont play im getting so annoyed now.

You need to be much more clear. Which method doesn't work? And what is the error that you're experiencing?

Also, you really want to post these kinds of things in the support forums.

The method bushranger describes does work. My work computer (which is not as good as my home tower) had these symptoms, added the txt file and bingo, im playing eso at work!! Thanks bushranger for that great info!!

I found a solution to this ... I am on Macbook pro and I have the game on steam. A feature of the fairly new Yosemite upgrade is that when you shut down and not close something it will automatically come back up when restarted. Do this with the launcher .. hit play and it worked for me. Not sure why but it did! happy days!

I doubt you will read this as it's so old, but how do I do this if there isn't even a Elder Scrolls Online folder in My Documents, nonetheless a UserSettings.txt?
