ESO Battle Royal - Yes or No?

It could easily be implemented into Battle Grounds for a four man team only.

Using existing BG structure/maps and having it be just a 16 man free-for-all, no respawns would be fun a few times.

Would likely get old really fast, though.

Yeah it was a four man instance in SWTOR. Since I was always a Healer/DPS type I was always one of the first to be attacked LOL.

I'd much prefer some different battlegrounds, two teams 8/10 per team, capture the flag. I used to play WoW and Warsong Gulch and Twin Peaks were always my favorite. I prefer the mechanics of this game but would like to see something like this. I'm not sure on the whole 3 team BG layout.

Battle royale is a fad that will die down soon. ESO is poorly balanced for this kind of gameplay, too.

Would it though? I mean, there would be a short term bump of interest, and some former players would probably return--but I can't imagine your average battle royale player wanting to spend 40 hours grinding up levels/CP/gear in order to compete when other games in that format let you get up-to-speed very quickly.

Or, if you had it set up to be a quick, drop-in style with preset gear/builds, I can't really see any longterm players being super interested in it.

I’m always in favor of more options to PVP and also in expanding the player base, if anything it would be more marketing for ESO and may be even expanding the player base for PVP.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be king of the hill dwindling from 50 players to 1 but may be teams even in IC or even smaller. It could may be include CP and NO CP campaigns as well as under level 50 only for new players.

I understand why some people might not like the survivalist mode of games that are out or coming out but unlike those games that help one particular player stand out and get viewers or a following...

We can use that same game mode to may be even push the concept of guild vs guild mode. Bragging rights for one 20 man group of one guild challenging another could even lead to a bracket style of tournament that some other games offer. Finally decide which guild is better in a faction only tournement and have another for cross faction bragging rights.

I understand why pepole dont like it, i hated battle royal games with no reason, until i tried one, and i freaking loved it.

    Other,
I would gladly welcome and play any new PvP activity that would be added to the game, including this "Battle Royal".

However, copy-pasting this into ESO's universe feels a bit dumb to me, as it would need several band-aids to account for the nature of the game and it's combat system.

I would like a free-for-all environment, but not one that ties winning/rewards to being the last man standing.

Imperial City was cited for good reason, the existing tel var system is a much better mechanic that doesn't promote spamming cloak and resto ult until the end of times.

A few months ago someone posted a nicely thought project for a duel arena with rewards/score tied to win-spree, like hearthstone's arena mode. I think this was a much more fitting project for a new PvP mode.

No .. and it's just battle royal doesn't suit this game style

And if I wanted to share that style I'd go play one

I like this game cos it's kind of like a magic version of socom ...it has some tactical merit when team are balanced

    Problem lies in balancing issues

You could expect a very specific meta build that would win 99% of the time because of its survivability. BR is not a good mode for an MMO like this.

    Other,
I don't have a reason against it, if you don't want to play it don't play it... but I can also see a magicka nighblade just permacloaking the entire match until there is only one other left and then just murdering him

I do not think we have to be concerned this thread will give Zos ideas. Zos is bright enough to understand that successful battle royale games are designed totally different and would not be ideal revenue drivers for ESO.

I wonder, all of u that have voted no, do u even have a reason? Why would u say no to another PVP enironment?
I bet u simply saw battle royal, and the negative thoughts came in auto'.

    1) Other games do it better than ESO will because of all the baggage PVE, etc. is forced to bring to the table.
    2) There is nowhere near anything like class balance for a situation like this to work. Some classes, there would simply be no point in even trying.
    3) I'd rather they expend whatever tiny bit of resources they allocate for PVP on fixing problems with existing PVP than add a trendy new thing.

Battle Royal would be about running around, looking for loot. How is ZOS going to do that effectively? *Heres a random Green greatsword* Good luck trying to kill with it lmfao.

I'm not getting paid to get in depth thinking, that ZO$ job, i just threw an idea that might be a good solution for the crap environment we have today.
