changing character background screen

I've always wondered if the background locations are actual places in game that you can find, or if they were just made for the background.

I wish it was like World of Wacraft where each race has specific background, but instead it's like Bleakrock Isle for Ebonheart Pact, even though they have swamps and ashlands, Stros M'kai for the Daggerfal Covenant even though they have more than just deserts and actually for the Aldmeri Dominion the background of Khenarthi's Roost seems the most accurate depiction of the zones they have.

But my character (so far) is a Khajiit and I wish he would get an Elsweyr background or something, before I had a Dark Elf that I deleted and I hated the snowy background. Snow is depressing me and making me feel sick.

Another great QoL improvement would be an option to sort our characters the way we want. Not sure why such thing is not in game already.

How about an option in settings that affects the character selection screen -
either a randomized background off of any of the zone backgrounds or based on the zone my character logged out in.
As for me, I really love the surprise of not knowing, especially if I haven't played a character in a while, when
I log in and it's like really, is this where I was last?

We have been able to do that since last year. Use the up/down arrow to sort your toons.

Yep, it would be great if we could change a background.
I'm not saying that they need to make hundreds, but few themes would be awesome.
