changing character background screen

Currently the background in character selection is tied to alliance, and frankly having all my characters in the Dominion has made that jungle background a little boring after so many years.

Could we get a way to change it? Maybe base it off the zone the character logged out in?

I would love to be able to set which background my character has. For example I really don't like the dessert background for DC, but I would be really nice to have the mountains of Wrothgar or cities of High Rock.

I'd like this. Would give a bit of variation and be a bit more relevant.

I always thought the background itself should be selected per character race, and only the banner added per alliance... so the current nord-ish EP background would trhen be for nords only, dunmer should have a morrowind background, argonians some black marshyness, and the Pact banner would be what tied them together... and so on.

it should display where the player logged out of- or perhaps show the players accomplishments behind them- like their achievements, et, like a trophy room behind each player.

Just to add my voice - I agree!

I love the Ebonheart background, but the Daggerfall background has never made sense to me. Where are the rolling green hills and stone castles.......? Nope. Just desert ruins. Desert, I tell you........

I expect a new background with Morrowind, but I too would love to change the background.

It would be really cool if you could set character background in option to be zone / location dependent - so if you logged off in Alik'r Desert - you will see desert in character background. If you logged off in Shadowfen - you will see swamps etc.

I thought it would be awesome to have the background where your character was left last. Craglorn, White Gold Tower, Deshaan, doesn't matter.

Every zone has a background which will display if you leave your character in it.

I would kind of like it to be the zone associated with the race, so Morrowind for Dunmer, Skyrim for Nord etc.

This might just be because I REALLY want my Dunmer characters to have a volcano in the background.

And it's really simple to do it

Just add another entry to parse in UserSettings or the LUA file prefixed with "ZOS" (I'm quite sure there's one) and read it as filepaths when loading character selection screen.

Just use the default images as fallback, in case the custom image doesn't exist or is too small...

I just would love a selection of like 20 eso backgrounds

Race-based environments will be much more entertaining.
Argonians - Shadowfen swamps.
Altmer - current AD background of Auridon.
Bretons - Daggerfall street or Glenumbra forests.
Bosmer - Grahtwood
Dunmer - Stonefalls Ashland
Imperial - Imperial City street or Gold Coast
Khajiit - Reaper's Marsh
Nord - Current Bleakrock is nice, but it may be Windhelm,
Orc - Orsinium stronghold, or default orcish longhouse.
Redguard - Current DC desert.

Problem with race based backgrounds is we get the same problem for those of us that only play one race =p

I guess my question is what do you just sit there and stare at the character selection screen for hours at a time? When I log in I'm selecting my character within 10 seconds of the screen loading then it's to a new loading screen...If you do just stare at it sometimes just make a character on the other factions and leave them up when you want to look at a character.

I mean I get the request, but maybe you shouldn't have made so many dominion characters. Also are you just sitting there staring out it for hours? Not sure how a screen I only see if like maybe 5 seconds each time I log in can be "boring"

Or if you (for example) made a khajiit in EP or DC. Doesn't make sense to have an AD background

Character backgrounds should be race-bound, not just alliance. So the current EP background is only suitable for Nords, but not Argonians should have marshland/Shadowfen back ground, Dark Elves Vvanderfell/Stonefalls/whathaveyou and so on and so forth. I think that would be ideal.

Of course interchangeable background based on where you logged out would be pretty awesome too.

I'd like to see a "photo booth" house decoration that allows you to choose that spot and whatever is in view of it for your background.

This would allow you to build your own, complete with lighting and pets/mounts, and change it at will.

Give us the ability to set our background via a chat command. For example you move your character into position somewhere ingame and set the camera angle of your choosing then type /homescreen and your character screen is set to that location.

This way you can set it to your house, your friends house, some place in Cyrodiil, part of a group dungeon, trial, arena, delve or public dungeon, maybe on a ship, in one of the main quest zones, theives refuge, skooma bubbler, next to a crafting station, etc.

It seems like everybody has ideas of where we want it changed to, so why not let us decide on a character by character basis.
