• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Do you think ZOS shows enough appreciation for the community?

Had issues back at launch with the game and the customer support rep that contacted me just told me to re-install the game. CS here at Zeni is always a flip of a coin: you might get someone who is actually helpful and honest, or you might get Chet.

    Did the reinstall work? :pensive:

Nope. I was then unable to play eso at all until I got a new computer a couple years later.

If you look around you can find tons of ignored issue threads, issues since launch even, but if you curse theyll jump right on it and still have nothing to say about the topic. Their communication sucks.

That's because it's easy for a forums moderation team (the team who moderates the forums as their job) to do moderation, but harder for communication on development issues as only Gina, Jessica and Kai have contact with the devs to pass info on and the devs themselves rarely post.

You can't compare forums moderation and games development because they're separate parts of running an MMO handled by different teams.

I think it depends greatly on which team in ZOS you're talking about. I think the likes of Gina, Jessica, the story & art team, and even the game designers (despite how much hell they get with each update), I think they all appreciate the customers. I think if were up to Gina, Jessica, or even Wrobel, they'd be handing out fire or frost mounts to everyone as if they were Oprah.

The sales, marketing/RNG box people however... I think to them we're just fatted cows to be beat up for more dollars, or euros, to be squeezed out each.

Also, you have Gina and Jessica, who are the front line against an often raging community - Side note: watching E3, and once again seeing Firor talk about how ESO has the greatest community. I'm sure the guys at Blizzard said they have the greatest community to, and the guys at EA, and so on. There is no "Greatest Gaming Community". Most gamers are a pack of toxic immature opinionated over-grown infants who throw tantrums and look for ways to push it to the line of getting reported so they can report someone else for getting them to cross that line... And that is for all communities. All of them. I laugh every time game reps get all PR and call the raging fans: "passionate fans".

That being said, back to the point... Gina and Jessica are torn between even possibly secretly agreeing with that outraged community over certain topics, yet still having to do their job and represent the company and its decisions. They are supposed to be excited, and supposed to make you even more excited than they are, about exclusive Maomer motif pages in RNG boxes for example... I've followed those two long enough to know they most certainly have the intelligence that when informed of that one, they most likely looked at each other and telepathically exchanged fears: "This will not go over well..." But they obviously can't jump on this forum and say: "Hey guys, bad news. Sales and marketing are going to really stick it to you with these RNG box motifs exclusives. Really sucks right? Oh, yeah, and they are never going to budge on the outfit slot pricing either. But here, have a vvardvark...."

In the end, I won't say I feel unappreciated. I like my vvardvark, dusky fennec... As much as I hate RNG boxes, I do appreciate receiving promotional RNG boxes (notice I said "promotional". They are not "free". They are promotional, and given to you with the intention of triggering that little spark in you to make you want to go buy more. You are not getting these simply out the the kindness of their black little hearts.... but that's an entirely different rant.)

TL/DR: I like getting things, even if it's things I don't like, or even an ulterior motive for giving them to me. If not for promotional RNG boxes, I would never have opened a single one, ever. I think certain teams in ZOS appreciate the customers much more than certain departments do. But at the same time, when I plugged my credit card in to buy the game, or chapters, or ESO+, I have never thought to myself: "These people better appreciate me!!!" either.

"I don't know why I bother guarding you horrible people." - Orama Sadas
"Scales here is about to have a really bad day..." - Valeric
"Just tell me what you're doing here before I turn your heart into a tomato..." - Sereyne
"Break those rocks! Dig those ditches! Why??? Because I want you to!!!" - Ifriz the Unraveller
"There are worse masters than I. Far worse." - Molag Bal
"I humiliated the Daedra in Mehrunes Spite." - You, when turning in a specific Undaunted Daily.
"I'm not finding YOU very pleasant!" - Adla the Brewer
"Old Ri'hirr likes his birds slow and stupid!" - Old Ri'hirr
"When things get dirty... Oh, I get so flustered." - Meredil the Archivist
"Too many Argonians about these days..." - Davon's Watch Guard back at launch (though I think this one has been removed from game)

All we get on the forums are copy-paste replies that has nothing to do with the topic. We are not getting any infomation of anything. The issues with steam is just the most recent drop in the bucket. ESO is a really awesome game. But Zenimax is awfull.

Even their ticket system gives you robot replies. In the beta they said when we where providing feedback that it was a "real human" on the other end so we should keep it polite. All we got was copypaste replies if we got a reply to beging with.

Game is awesome. Zenimax? not even close. a joke even.
speaking of jokes.. 1 crown crate for how much downtime? since the last 3 months even.

We pay for a service so the best way for them to show their appreciation of us is to make that service as buttery smooth as possible, to make our experience of their service as good as it gets.

Is it what it should be? definitely not.

Is it as bad as some doom-sayers shout? nope, not that bad either

As usual it ends up being about balance, plenty of communication, some bug fixing, some new content, some market place. unfortunately its currently too much of the last one and not enough of the former which just emphasises that they are about the money.

They should be, but not to the extent they've been showing, even us marks have feelings.....
