I think you answered you rude quandary yourself, steam users have no problems. I think there is something to ESO running through a third party program. ZOS is innocent until proven guilty, so provide some, and I'll concede, until then, try to remain civil.

Nope. Again, maybe you should think before typing. How many of the games on Steam are third party? The vast majority of them ....and they're all working. All except ESO ... and get this ... even ESO NA is working via Steam ... not EU. So please enlighten us all with your analysis of how Steam is the problem

I cannot log in on NA via Steam, was able to about 4 hours ago but not anymore.

This is straight BS. I can get on the PTS but not the live game. I’m telling ya. I’m not playing ESO much longer. Canceling the subscription RIGHT NOW. Gonna stick around a bit to say so long to a few pals. That’s it.

Check out that TOS we all signed. ZOS doesn't owe compensation for downtime.

How about a free new non-Steam account, including a move of all our toons including achievements to the new one?

    ^ This would be ideal.

It feels like the right time to admit that they can't fix the problem for STEAM users, and that's just not right. So the least they can do is offer this.

I've already cancelled my recurring ESO Plus subscription tonight, for these STEAM connection issues which I didn't sign up for, and for other reasons as well. I still have reasons to play the game, but I must admit that both artistically (costume/mount/armor color/body decoration aesthetics - not in keeping with the Elder Scrolls, but in keeping with MMOs that twelve year olds play) and technically (really sad amount of user downtime due to connection issues), my reasons get a bit more threadbare all the time.

(I'm not one of those enticed by more and more DLC dungeons and group stuff & PvP to do, either.)

I would hope not; I would hope they'll "fix this" by compensating everyone just in case they were affected, like they have in the past.

But they're going to need to realize that every time they have special daily offers & rewards and such, but can't fix game inaccessibility issues, they're not only going to have to fix the access issue, but do twelve times the extra programming work to make sure everybody gets their rewards.

It's got to be painful for them. The stakes on making mistakes just got exponentially higher for them with the daily rewards system & with all the extra "special limited time offers" they're doing.

I've seen some folks ask for compensation. Unless you mean something else, my mind always jumps to money when people request compensation. So correct me if I'm wrong. But ....

If you pay $15 a month and you've played for 2 years, then approximately....

    $15 X 24 months = $360

    $360 / 17,520 hours in 2 years = 0.02 cents an hour

Average time of temporary service interruption? 4 hours? 12 hours? Let's go with an average of 8 hours. And this was the seventh time this has happened in two years?

    ( 8 hours downtime X 0.02 ) X 7 = $1.12
For your service interruptions, of a game you've played for two years, are you asking for $1.12 to be credited to your account? Or are you wanting a new hat or something in game?

you are insane! it's the seventh time in ONE month, not 2 years.
And when I asked for compensation for connection troubles, it means smth in-game content, but not the money.

I'd settle for 100k gold a day. Considering that I'm having problems since January this year that's roughly 18 millions. That's not asking too much is it now? :*

If the conclusion is that the launcher problems just cannot be solved reliably the least I would expect is to provide this customer base with an alternative method to log in. Regardless, of when or where they layed their RL money down to invest in this game!

The official launcher is absolutely fine, no issues in game either.... (for me)

I used to have mega problems with lotro via steam, as soon as I binned steam off and used their official launcher there was never another problem.... also gta5 via steam is now and always has been a mess! Steam is a joke, why people continue to use it when there are better options is beyond me.... but then there would be nothing to moan about...

You realize they likely use different API’s for different games? Just because you can access one through steam doesn't mean you will be able to access another. I authenticate fine, doesn't sound like an issue in ZOS's side.

You realise that this is unlikely? Maintaining multiple APIs is not a sustainable business model and certainly would be a huge strain on resources. Also it would likely result in simultaneous outages in ALL the games using that API. That simply isn't happening.

What is more likely is that some games don't use the API in the way that it is intended or because the technical implementation would break their code. This means that they are outside of the standardised method of interaction with the hosting service and therefore responsible for when that breaks.

I am not saying that this is the case here as I have no knowledge of the interfaces themselves but having worked 40 years in IT functions it's my educated guess.

Regardless of actual calculations of loss or what TOS says, there is this thing called "Good Will" that usually is used when someone suffers unfairly even if noone is to blame, or when it is clearly the right thing to do.

Developer/Publisher whoever should google this term and fire their community PR department and hire people who have some idea how to act towards their playerbase.

The lack of compensation and communication towards its playerbase is easily the worst I have seen in any game of this stature.

I mean come on even the korean piece of garbage MMO "Black Desert Online" threw out compensation left and right for small issues.

It doesnt have to be anything of value tbh (although in this case a crate for those that missed out on their third crate because of this login bs) just something that speaks "we recognize there was an issue, heres a little something for your inconvenience" How can a company that releases such a big title not have a PR/Community department that recognizes the value in this? Its absolutely unbelievable.

I am new to the game and purchased ESO+ fairly quickly because I felt I wanted the full experience. After all the login issues thats been more than once a week on average and so many hours of downtime per issue I am seriously contemplating not pouring more ESO+ money into the game until the game is in working order. I doubt Im all alone in way of thinking and that means an actual income loss and potentially playerloss, mostly because of the inability to communicate issues to the player is a more caring fashion. Pathetic.

Also, lastly, 12+ hours for an issue that is occuring week after week, sounds like there needs to be firing and hiring on the technical side as well.

Well, in the past eso have been fair in terms of extending events due to technical issues... so hold on to your panties. Also it's clear that outside of steam the game is fine

I can only speak from the experience Ive seen so far, compensation has been for all the hours of downtime we have had. If they decide on compensation this time, good, but theres been weeks since we had issues without a single mention or any form of communication.

There were someone in this thread saying he/she had issues and was not using steam, and regardless, its their resposibility together with steam to resolve it, especially since they removed the option of launching outside steam. And since its been reoccuring more than once a week since the Summerset patch, needing so many hours each to resolve it every time is completely and utterly disgraceful.

No panties twisted in any fashion here, its a completely legitimate response to reoccurring login issues I have not seen the likes of in any major game Ive played.

At most, anyone missed one of the free Psijic Crates.

As for daily login rewards, everything you "missed" will still be there when you log in, and as long as you've been logging in daily to claim your rewards, you should have plenty of days left to claim all of the login rewards by the end of the month.
