Compensate us for steam issues

It's Sunday evening for me now, and I've got some time before going to sleep, so I wanted to spend them for the game. But steam doesn't work again, and this is not the 2nd or the 3rd time we've been experiencing such issues. For me, it's the SEVENTH time so far. It's rediculous, why devs can't do smth to fix this? It's already a tradition for us once a week to become dumb while waiting fixing steam login issues. Seriously, I pay for the game already for 2 years, and what I got? Why I can't login when I want to the game I pay for?

this speaks someone from non-steam acc, i guess. does this really matter on what side is the problem? if it's steam that is responsible, so why we are still playing in ESO via steam? I don't want to, why I should play on unstable platform?

I'm not even surprised any more. It's now one of the 'normal' issues that are most likely not going to be fixed. It's now the fifth or sixth time in the last three months.

This is a joke not karma.. ZO$ doesnt care about steam users because it's not really their problem atm, they dont want to respond, and ESO is so small on steam so generaly valve doesnt care aswell..

    Sure. Legally.

I still think they should consider a compensation for Steam-players (out of embaressment maybe). I even have a proposal: How about a free new non-Steam account, including a move of all our toons including achievements to the new one?

Exactly. Legally, they don't have to give anyone compensation. As for the "should they compensate" aspect, I'm sorry, were you hoping for good customer service from ZOS?

They've extended events due to lengthy and widespread downtime, and that's about the only compensation I've ever heard of then giving.

what are you guys saying? steam hosts loads of games like that warframe etc and they have no issues whatsoever.. it's not that i ask for compensation but for me in 3 months since ibought the game it's like happened 11 times, it's a bit too much.

man, it's a complete ***! how much time has passed since the issue occurred? 5 hours, dude! and the problem is still unresolved! you are blind or smth? it's a rage post 'cause you guys are living in a country without tools or what? how many times I will log in to your game and see connection time lapsed error?

All these steam issues is making me consider other (non-steam) games to play. I'm the same as OP, wanted to log in, play for a bit slay some monster to qualify for the crates, but now I can't. I guess no crates for me (not like I get anything good in them).

It really adds to a poor experience overall, doesn't matter if it's ZOS's or Steam's fault. I don't care. I'm guessing ZOS/Steam doesn't care either to find the root cause of these issues and resolve them or have an SLA/OLA between them. Steam probably doesn't provide an SLA for anyone having a game on there anyways.

Exactly. Weeks of that crap and we still DO NOT know what's going on.

If this is on Steam's end, they need to address why purchasing a product from them is penalizing us and what they're doing about it.

If this is on Zenimax's end, they need to address why purchasing their product from a third party they have a deal with is penalizing us and what they're doing about it.

Either way, at SOME point, it would nice to know why we paid and for many of us are paying a monthly subscription for a game we are getting less from than other people who purchased it through other means and are getting more from it.

This is plain and simple unacceptable.

ps I posted an ESO Steam review a littler while ago that is currently the top one on Steam with, as of typing, 658 upvotes. I do love ESO, but it feels kinda bad knowing people may be buying the game from Steam after reading my review when I feel at this point that buying it from Steam is obviously the wrong choice. Will have to change to change it accordingly if nothing gets done and we don't get a proper official response about the situation this time.

steam support is ignoring us, same as ZOS. i just cant send a support ticket to steam 'cause when a dozen of "Next" buttons have been overcome to approach a final button by clicking on which a ticket should be submitted, suddenly it appears that as steam says "please contact game developers because we cannot provide you the best support for a third party product" and suggests to choose from the list of available support, i.e. ZOS and Bethesda or just go to the forum!

Is that a support we all deserve?? Neither ZOS nor steam can provide an assistance with the matter!

So from STEAM's reply it follows that ZOS's fully responsible for supporting players with ESO - not steam or some other company. Well, ZOS can you PLEASE (I'm tired of asking) CLEAR it UP ---- WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON WITH YOUR PRODUCT?

They really do. I remember one time BDO went down for part of a day, and they ended up giving everyone goodie packs as an apology.

Here, all we get from ZOS is "the issue is now resolved." And people go on about their day, until the next time the servers *** themselves.

    Compensation != free.

It's literally the opposite of free for most people, since we paid for the game, the most recent expansion, and many of us pay for subs.

With all the login problems ever since Summerset dropped, I don't think it's at all unreasonable for people to ask for compensation. There's been a large amount of inconvenience with logging in for weeks now.

the server is down for 6 hours. it's basically a half of the day if to assume a normal person sleeps the other 12 hours or so. for Russian players, it's a half of their whole Sunday, oh my!

Why should ZOS have to do something because the third party site you are using isn't working properly? Steam can do something for compensation as well.

Put your brains to good use man! Gimme some evidence it's steam's fault and you can take a cookie. ESO is running well for nonsteam users, so what's the problem with steam alone? do you really think steam is responsible for the game and gaming process? the game runs NOT on steam but on ZOS's SERVERS, so all connection issues are the fault of ZOS, steam just provides us an ability to run the launcher. all game data is stored on ZOS's servers as well. so dont please type such nonsense

leaving players in the dark concerning these issues is a slow and insidious killer of our patience.

what is so hard just to clarify for us the roots of the issues? ZOS just does not tell players what is associated with the connection problems

Steam is working perfectly. I can log in to, and play, Fallout4, Skyrim, Rocket League ... actually over 200 games ... without problems. The ONLY one I can't log into is ESO

It's like literally every flipping sunday!! I'm really fed up. The compensation should be that everyone who logged in once during the event gets three crates regardless of steam, or whatever. Any technical issues should mean automatic qualification for everyone. That will make me happy in the short term.

Steam is working fine. I've been able to login to NA server without issues. If it was Steam's fault i shouldn't be able to login at all.
Also notice how there is no official statement about what the problem is - if Steam was at fault they wouldn't hesitate to point it out, but doing so when they know it's ZOS fault could led to legal issues.
As the problem can be experienced only by Steam players and, at the same time, one server is working without issues and the other is not then the problem is on the server side and is probably related to the code related to steam integration/authentication - that code was not written by Steam - it was written by ZOS/Bethesda.
