Playing one handed on PC

I have sustained ligament damage in my right elbow, which may mean that I may need to play one handed (left). Usually I play left handed with the mouse, and right handed with the keyboard, but the latter is becoming a real problem.

Can anyone please suggest any solutions for me to play mostly left handed. Perhaps there is a mouse that would enable me to do this?

Thanks.

I am a big fan of both the razer naga and the orbweaver. If you could only use one, I thing you could do a better job with the orbweaver. Basically use the traditional WASD buttons for direction, and the left thumb stick for head movement.

That said, i do know people with some pretty strange setups that actually do things like using LMB for forward movement. I think if you went the mouse route, you would have enough buttons to cover all your combat essentials, but it would be tight. 12 buttons on the side could be: 5 skills/WASD/Swap/Potion/Ultimate. You could use the two top buttons for sprint and crouch, and LMB/RMB for attack/Block. You would then bind everything else to a normal keyboard. You also have a mouse scroll to work with.

If you go the orbweaver route, I believe the left thumb button is intended to function as a typical left thumbstick does on a Console control (controls movement), but I dont think there is any reason you couldnt go the other way with it (control your head/view). On mine, I just use the left thumbstick as 4 keybinds for random stuff, and use what would normally be the WASD keys for movement.

You might be a little limited on button selection, but I think you could get everything you need in active combat all in one place. You would obviously have a regular keyboard you could use as well for more functionality when things arent trying to kill you.

Also look into a keyboard mount for your chair. I have used two different kinds with great results. If you can position the keyboard such that you dont have strain on your shoulder or elbows to reach it, that might help.

The test for you would be to sit in your chair in your normal position and rest your arms on your arm rests, not to type, just resting your arms like if you were just talking someone and you were not at your desk. Remember, your not going to be putting your hands on the desk at all if you go this route. If you do not feel the strain on your elbow, send me a PM here and i will give the links to the ones I have tried.

All my elbow and shoulder pain went away in just weeks using the keyboard mounts.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I should be able to use my right hand for the 5 skills; it is the walking and running which is mostly causing the issue. I have stumbled across the mouse below:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-G300S-Optical-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00PVWZH78/ref=mp_s_a_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1529170036&sr=8-22&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=left+handed+mouse+with+buttons&dpPl=1&dpID=41eIeOTwCaL&ref=plSrch

I was thinking of either using the middle buttons or the ones on the right for forward and back. What do you think of this?

    Thanks.

I sustained nerve damage in my left hand about 6 years ago as well. The first year or so was awful, couldn't use it to pick things up, hold glasses or bottles or anthing but I recovered enough eventually. The hand is still completely numb, sensory-wise but I can move it "normally" again. Not sure what your exact condition is but for a while I used a mouse similar to the one @Aesthier suggested

    Macros??

I know it's a long shot. But if ZOS were to allow players with disabilities to use macros that would be really thoughtful of them and I don't think anyone would really object to that...

Basically using macros to automatically weave light attacks (and bash cancel) would help one handed dps and give those people the chance to perform at a competitive level.

Kk, so a few years back I broke both wrists in one go, I could still use my mouse but I couldn't use my keyboard. I was still going to play tho so I did what I had to do, I got 2 extra keyboards, popped off all the buttons I didn't need, spread out the bindings and played with my feet. Wasn't the best at it but after a few months of practice I got pretty good at it. Maybe not the *best* idea but it worked well for me

I play on a laptop with a regular keyboard and trackpad. I more or less already play 90%+ of the game left handed on keyboard (movement and all combat minus block and panning essentially). If you’re currently using your right hand for most usual keyboard functions, would simply swapping hands be a huge issue? I can’t imagine using right hand on mouse to pan around would be a huge issue if you’re currently using it for much much more. Might be easier than learning to play the entire game on a left handed gaming mouse. Depends on how serious the damage is of course but just a suggestion.

I only learned to use the mouse left handed because it made my right elbow worse when I initially damaged it 12 years ago.

I assume that using the keyboard more since playing eso in the last year has damaged other ligaments in my elbow. I either have to stop playing, or play almost completely left handed until my elbow gets better (assuming it does get better).

Holy crap! Nice collection of links! The rudder and DX1 controllers are fascinating. I don’t need them but now I wish I had them!

I use the Tartarus and the Naga... LOVE the functionality. Almost never have to use the keyboard except to chat. Everything else is programmed to one of the keys or buttons.

I had a similar problem when y right shoulder froze a few years back. Moving my mouse wasn't too much of a problem but clicking was excruciatingly painful. I tried to make a foot activated mouse click system but failed. Ended up just having to quit ESO and my other gaming for 6 months. :(

I bought the Logitech g300s in the end. The outside buttons are using for locking sprint, auto run, forward and back. The lower middle two buttons are r and e, and I use a number pad for skills. I have found it works really well for me, and my elbow is much better as a result.

    Thanks for the advice!
