So I guess we will get 2 dungeon dlc, 1 story dlc and 1 chapter per year?

I just wish they’d take 1 of the free DLCs and not do content exactly but make it more QOL , balance, and bug fixes. Should probably be right after the paid chapter where new things were introduced with the possibility of new bugs or unintentional uses if things that make them too powerful. Would discourage players from jumping on the new “meta” too hard if they didn’t know it would last a year.

    Q1: Any DLC
    Q2: Chapter
    Q3: Dungeon DLC
    Q4: Story DLC

Dungeon DLCs are my favourite, so I'm happy with this year. Casual PvE players get two story DLCs each year as it is (chapter and Q4 DLC). They need to throw veteran players a bone from time to time too or we'll all leave.

The chapters & story DLC frequently have trials or dungeons (or those "group arena" things). So they have content for groupers & "veteran players"

Meanwhile, dungeon DLC have..... dungeons? Do they have anything else to cater to other playstyles? Well, aside from more motifs for the crafters to collect buy from dungeon runners.

Seems like they "throw a bone to veteran players" quite frequently.

The first DLC of the year usually has something to do with customisation. Like housing or Outfits. This year they also threw in some dungeons, which have normal and vet mode.

Second is a full chapter which is literally an entirely new zone with quests, delves, PDs, a trial, WBs, group events and solo dailies. The introduced BGs last year, and moved it to basegame this year, which people wanted.

Third DLC is 2 new dungeons that have both normal and vet modes.

4th DLC is literally another new zone with a story, some delves, a trial or arena, WBs and dailies. This is just a smaller zone, like clockwork city or the Gold Coast etc.

They also added new BG maps along the way.

I’d say they’re doing a good job at caring for a lot of different play styles. They might miss one or two things here and there but I think we’ve got it pretty good...

    And no fing pvp one.

What would they add at this point? More battleground maps? They likely will on their own time.

PVP isn't popular enough with this game to warrant it. You'd think people would learn that right now.

Battlegrounds are only 4 people at a time. I run a pvp guild generally 6-10 people a day. Battlegrounds split us up.

When game came out we had 6-7 full pop lock campaigns all day. No content terrible lag and nothing new is why it isn’t popular anymore.

You can’t feed a dog scraps and expect it to get healthy

In a game where we all litterally experience some of the worst lag, 5 minute loading times, and so on, what makes you think that their going to bend over backwards to fix the lag for 1/3rd of the game when they dont bother to fix the lag on the rest of it?

Furthermore, how much of the audience will the new content retain, do you think? Here's a hint, not nearly as much as you hope it will.

You're expectations are unrealistic. Sorry. But it's the truth.

It’s not even the lag that bothers me as much as the same stale state of pvp. Same places same people.

No content won’t retain anybody either. So they can at least try to retain something.

A traveling caravan with goods that rides around and people fight to control it would go a long long way. They can create an entire area from scratch but we (and I mean the pvpers that do support the game with purchases. I know 15+ people who all pay Eso plus and additional purposes) can’t get anything in cyrodiil. I like and play Battlegrounds but on a Friday night when everyone is on it’s the same it’s been for 2 years.

It’s ok E3 showed a bunch of stuff and a lot caught my attention. I’ve bought 6-7 different games since Eso came out and maybe beat 1 of them. Eso = Life and Life is a *** right now.

Im not a big PVPer but i think they could do something in terms of content for PVP with Cloud Ruler Temple, they could make it a 3 team trialesque/sewers/battlegrounds area, the teams start in different areas of the temple, fight enemies on their way to a point where they try and secure the objective

This objective could be a Daedric artefact (being sought after by 3 different benefactors), once aquired applies boost to the owning teams stats, then they must then kill all the members of the other teams to win (respawn timers of 30 seconds), if one of the team with the artefact dies, artefact is dropped and can be picked up by either of the other teams who then have the objective to kill all others
    PS4 - EU - DC
    Characters:
    Adzer - Breton Templar
    Thorgon Stormcaller - Nord Dragonknight
Elrond Smeagol - High Elf Sorceror
    Akorithi Sendu - Redguard Nightblade
    Miraak Icelight - Nord Warden
    Father Dori - Breton Templar
    Argo - Argonian Dragonknight

I'm glad we are getting more dungeons, those are my favorite DLC packs. My friends and i could spend a couple weeks doing the achievements while the little story zones like clockwork, hews bane, gold coast, etc. are all cleared by me with almost all achievements in a couple days.

Casuals already get the chapter and 1 other story DLC but REEEEE when the people who actually want challenging 4-man content get thrown a bone. It's really funny actually.

Think it will depend on what systems they bring to the game. This year we have had the outfit system, jewellery crafting and a new skill line.

I think if we didn't have that the time and resources creating them might of been diverted to creating another story DLC, plus they have to think of the year ahead and the year after that.....no one apart from ZoS themselves knows that's going on/whats coming up....

Hey Murkmire this year might be a zone the same size at one of the vanilla zones. If we got that plus summerset this year, zone wise I am happy......If murkmire is a small zone like CWC then.....well that will be disappointing to say the least. I would rather have quality over quantity.

You are out of your mind if you think murkmire is going to be any larger than goldcoast, hews bane or clockwork city.

Most MMOs I played started off with little to no content and eventually started doing quarterly. The quarterly content was light and many complained resulting in the devs splitting that into 3 pieces of content a year vs 4. Some even felt 2x a year was enough.

Personally as long as the content has a well developed story and if possible a dungeon that is worth replaying due to mechanics and loot than it is a win for the community. Content also need to consider casual and hardcore players; with casual getting easier dungeons and the hardcore getting whatever is considered hard content in the MMO. The devs also need to include some type of PVP update once a year, be it new gear or a new zone or both; nothing major but enough to keep the PVP players happy and playing.

I am far from end game so I have no idea how end game content is for ESO. I have played a few other MMOs and played end game content and I would consider myself a hardcore player with those MMOs. Now I'm more casual and definitely not seeking the challenge as my time will be limited on ESO as other things in my life take priority.

Whatever the devs do, I'm sure they are using data to make their decisions. That is very common when it comes to a game that wants to generate revenue and expand beyond its current game world.

Exactly ^THIS (bolded). The devs KNOW who is spending money in the game and who is not... veteran players typically have everything already and are not spending money... not as much as new players, RP's, or those just out questing in the world for fun. Players who tend to take this game seriously, as in competition wise, typically aren't worrying about costumes, mounts, housing, etc... so why should the game invest financially into content for them if they know they aren't going to get any long-term return? ZOS knows where the money comes from, and while many of you may not like it, that's what is called... BUSINESS. ZOS is here to make a profit, not offer freebies with little to no return. They know who is running what content, and how much each of those players are spending in the game... so yes, as @MEBengalsFan2001 noted above, they are definitely using data to make their game development decisions.

pvp content is actually lacking content, so why do a pvp dlc or something for it if its basically the same thing? its just pvp, no story no loot... no nothing pvp is worthless atm , people asking for pvp content is sooooooooooo boooooooooooring

<5 per cent of the community responsible for <1 per cent of the profits? Where's the loss for them?

Proof: Heart of Thorns. Went hardcore. Cash shop profits dried up almost instantly. Almost killed ArenaNet. Also Craglorn. Also Cadwell's Gold/Silver. Also Wildstar. Also Battleborn. You know this is true.

You guys keep asking for too much and paying for too little. Exactly the opposite of what the casual community does.

The thing is, we all would like something different.
Personally, my wish is for a trial, a REAL trial. Something epic with trash and bosses and the feeling of battling your way to the final goal. These so called mini trials are not trials imo, they are more like arenas. They are ok but I would much prefer something like VMoL or VHoF.
Apart from that I think Zos does a pretty good job with the amount of content it keeps giving us.
They are never gonna please everyone but I think we get a pretty good deal overall.

This is the problem that all MMO devs face, trying to please the masses. Some players want more dungeons, other want trials, other want open world content, some want better stories, others want PVP, and than there are those that would like an expansion to create 50 man dungeons (yeah I want this).

The thing is this, the devs have to use what they have to make decisions. Just like other businesses, data drives their choices. What we say here is just a small sample of the overall gaming community of ESO and because of that, devs cannot just listen to the forum members. They need to listen to in game chat, social media and other means by which feedback is provided to them. The direction of ESO does not come from one single thing it is a collection of data to drive this game forward.

This is a word that too many people use too often.

No one deserves anything, entitlement is 90% of the worlds pain.

The unfortunate truth about ESO is the developers made a bad choice, highlighting PVP as end game when the game first launched, this game does not lend itself well to PVP like DAoC did, and that was inevitable, many of us long time Elder Scrolls fans tried very hard to talk the devs out of this every time we saw them, and they chose not to listen.

But what the hard core TES fans saw happening actually happened....PVP more or less died, because that simply isn't what fans of the series wanted, they wanted Skyrim with friends, and the developers backed off on PVP, to be fair they also backed off on end game raiding too (yes they still do trials but ESO isn't raid or die like WoW)

I know hard core PVP players hate to hear this but, ESO is about the story and the journey, and that is where it's found it's audience (because those players were waiting for ZoS to finally get it, it took damn near a year but they did) Most serious PVP players left ESO for the gankfest dujour that is being cranked out on a bi-monthly basis by lazy devs looking for quick cash.

Does this mean that PVP is totally ignored? Hardly, but it isn't a priority the way it once was. Honestly I'm surprised that the smallish PVP community has stuck around at all, but that is also what is great about ESO we got folks who fish all day and those who do nothing but BG's.

I think there are better choices for the PVP centric MMo player and I say that as a hardcore DAoC player back in the day...I just don't think a PVP DLC is worth the devs time and would probably get them raked over the coals by folks who are expecting the content expectations ZoS has set for themselves.

They just went from little content to very little content per year. Two dungeon DLCs is basically the worst thing you could do. As subscribers you get 4 dungeons and a small zone per year - for a price of almost $100. That's ridiculous.

Not really....folks who played Arena and who are familiar with the lore know that there are plenty of untapped areas they can go back to in the expansions they have already released, and the areas that haven't been released we are talking about five or six years minimum ....so plenty to do and still plenty of areas to cover.

We knew we would get 2 dungeon DLC and one zone. Zos said so last year and did what they said.

Until and unless they change things again this is what we will get. Zones take much more work than a couple dungeons mostly in designing a larger area and all the quests deigns and dialogue.
