It's not. It's against ESO's terms of service.

News travels fast. Except, sometimes it's slow.

Crowns are in game currency and have no real world value. As per the ToS, that makes it okay. Lady Bruno confirmed, but honestly it was clear as day anyway.

Well, good to know. Sad to know, but useful at least.

Changes absolutely nothing. All just cosmetics and convenience items anyway. And the guy receiving gold is just gonna use it to buy tradeable item sets at most, which are usually outperformed by their bind on pickup alternatives.

    I honestly don't see a problem here :3

I mean, I've already seen a few people get scammed by other players saying they'll trade gold for something outta the crown store, and then not delivering. Seems like a problem to me. Not that it'll affect me directly, but I mean, it's definitely a negative for some people (and it is very annoying when I get people begging me for stuff after they get scammed (so indirectly I am affected), although luckily I haven't encountered THAT in ESO... yet).

I mean, I like the idea of gifting - I've used it myself already - but there should be a safer way to do this stuff, like being able to put a crown store item in a trade window or something, in order to protect the more vulnerable players in the community from being taken advantage of.

Unless they are buying carries and not gold. The only place where that is not possible would be Maelstrom.

It is much easy to sell gold on special services with real money and then buy crowns by this money. There are a lot of services which allow you to sell or buy ingame gold.

If you dont use bots I dont think any problems about selling gold with real money.

I'm pretty sure that your average goldseller wants real life cash, not crowns...

You may not see a problem with it but you dont make the rules. Sell gold for money equals a ban. Gold sellers are only below hackers as the scum of online gaming.

I consider cheaters, botters, gold farmers, and hackers all the same level of dirt

I mean, it's possible in Maelstrom too. Just requires a pretty significant breach of what most people consider to be basic security (and a hope that ZOS doesn't do any kind of IP-tracking shenanigans).

I've heard of a few instances on this on PC, and I think it's possible via some innate sharing on one of the consoles.
